If the conversation stalled, I would ask some questions to try to get to know my date better, - his opinions, ideas, dreams, and might relate some interesting stories about experiences friends have had. Sometimes it’s nice to just smile reassuringly, to encourage a comfortable pause in the conversation.

i usually go to the mall the first date and just start a vonversation about everything i see. for example if theres a rock band shirt ill be like " hey what time of music do you like"..? "have you heard this band?" then ill see a rugrats poster and he like "what 90s cartoons was your favorite?" and just take it from there. lol

Hey hello, I was impressed by the games. I don't like competing on the date, I love you be social and of course fun! I've always been successful with looking for things that my date didn't like and try and find other ways to look into the box and enjoy these in a personal way. Like one date didn't like to try different foods he didn't usually eat! I asked for: If he had a choice what would or wouldn't he try? He answered never sushi! So I asked what then in the Japanese government would he try? He said nothing! My challenge: finding out what... I asked some type of foods with no successes and thought... this is to look inside the box an other way----so I remember the chefs with the grill and tossing foods around! I suggested that we go without asking about pallets. His eyes lightened up and clearing his mouth smirked trying to say no, and yet I caught it and laughed out softly with a smile and tilting my head looked up towards his eyes and said calmly and assertively: For our next date You pick the Japanese restaurant and when we arrive I'll act like a dizzy dummy and ask all the questions for you. Any questions you have you ask me if? Then we can order 2 different meals and I'll ask for some samples! He loved the idea of looking in control of the ordeal and I would help without showing it! He agrees and the date was fun, funny and he got to enjoy Japanese foods, that opened up the door for other restaurants and home cooking different foods for each other. A other way was with church, with a long distance relationship when we would see each other periodically. My date had questions about how important the Biblical history, the facts confuses, how this applies to his life? He didn't want to get pulled or forced into religion. So being a Seven Day Adventist from birth. I asked for some stuff and helped him understand somethings and connected to him by asking him to open up and allowing me to answer what I can. He didn't happily and when he needed a authority to talk to him o asked him to look for a SDA church and visit without comment and he found one he liked and started working with bible studies with his requesting. If you're in a restaurant you can guess which professions people have sitting besides you or what they probably are talking about etc.
