Seymour Duncan Dimebucker VS Distortion ( SH-13 vs TB-6/SH/6)

- English :
I couldn't resist comparing both, since I still can't make my mind which one to chose ! The Dimebucker is of course the signature pickup from the late Dimebag Darrell from Pantera, and the Distortion is my all time metal/rock favorite (yet !)
* It is actually a Distortion TREMBUCKER (TB-6), meaning that the pole spacing is wider to fit tremolo string spacing. Interesting fact : Seymour Duncan is the only company that changes also the baseplate's width, meaning even if it's MEANT to be identical with compensated coil winding etc., the TB-6 and the SH-6 (normal version of the Distortion) are not physically identical.
...Sounds identical though haha.

The Duncan Distortion is my pick because it has more midrange sizzle, but I'm partial since I've been using them for years.
Haha, same here !
Sold me on the dimebucker. Great playing you kick ass dude.
thanks buddy !
I loved sh6 Duncan Distortion. I just put one in my Lefty Poplar body Jackson Dinky two months ago and absolutely love it... originally I put in a Duncan JB but it left me wanting a bit more tightness any Clarity on the low-end which is what's Duncan distortion did for me that that the JB did not. The Duncan Distortion has more mid-range while the dime bucker is more mid-range scooped... personally I feel that duncan Distortion is a lot more versatile while the dimebucker is more of a one-trick Pony and finicky depending on the guitar... the dimebucker is very sterile sounding to me. I also found that lowering the Duncan distortion down to about 3mm makes it even sweeter sounding and more versatile.
I liked the distortion more isolated but the dimebucker more in the mix. Both great pickups. And great playing as well!
Thanks buddy, another video is coming really soon ! with 5 pickups
Both have qualities that I like, but choose the Dimebucker between these two, as I like the blade sound and the EQ.
Great video, thanks!
Such a good tone !!!!
I gotta say, I LOVE my tb6 it definitely screams, however it is a little "twangy" when i hit certain notes when using heavy amounts of gain. My question is which one did you prefer, the dimebucker or the tb6 and why?
Hey thanks for your comment !
I'd say the TB-6 is more balanced and all around easier to mix. But it's been months since, and I got to admit that the Dimebucker has a lot more bite. I might do another video to make my mind :P
I have the exact same guitar and dilemma, I'm looking for a good rear pup to replace the stock. How are you doing with the guitar? What pick-up did you settle on finally? I'm looking at the Duncan Distortion, EVH or the Duncan 78. I tend to like 80's tones. Great playing dude, keep on keepin on.
Thanks ! It all ended with the distortion, but I'm trying out more vintage pickups in another guitar, including a duncan 59 !
The 78 sounds great too
@@TheScovilleProject keep us updated!!!
Méchant bon playing!
Merci mon homme !!!
Dimebucker much better here, more proffesional sounding than TB-6. Better clarity, seperation, mids, punch, cutting through with edge, etc. and overall mix breathes with these pick ups.
100%! I’ve played with EMGs and Fishman Fluence for many years and still like them a lot but 2-3 months ago I bought a Kramer Assault 220 Plus that had the Dimebucker instead of the EMG and man…as someone who never liked Pantera and Dimebag’s tone…it’s probably the best passive pickup I’ve ever played. The clarity of the strings and the thickness of the palm mutes on either my Peavey 3120 or EVH 5150 100w are really impressive. I cut through our band mix like butter. I’ll maybe buy another set to put in my SG ;)
Dd a little more middy and not as compressed. Dimebucker more scooped. Both sound excellent to me
Who painted your guitar? looks cool.
It's a factory finish from Schecter :D !
Why TB6 (SH6)?
-TB6 AND SH6 ARE THE SAME?
This sounds more like Winger or Motley Crew than it does Diamond Darrel
Your're totally right ! I wanted to get a "neutral" field of play for the comparison
Im here just to leasten this beautiful music. By the way i prefer more sh-13, it has more harmonics and it sounds reacher, but maybe a bit dirtyer at the same time. The other one sounds too flat and clean in my opinion.
Tb6 is same sh6?
It's the "floyd rose string spacing" version, since Floyds are wider
lequel tu preferes??
