The van with rocket launcher would have been towed before he got there.

I work at a level 1 (highest level) trauma hospital. Whenever the president was going to be in town, we’d get several visits from the secret service days before he was scheduled to arrive. Theyd scout the hospital and ask about all the entry/exit points. Before he would arrive, an ER trauma bay, operating room, and surgery team would be reserved for him in case anything would go wrong during his visit.

When the president travels on Air Force One, it costs millions of dollars. Just like there are 2 presidential limousines, there are 2 identical 747 planes, for the same reason, to confuse would be assassins. Also, large military planes transport all the cars for the motorcade. The Secret Service scouts the President's route beforehand, including all buildings along the way. The manhole covers are welded shut. Nothing is left to chance.

I'm surprised they didn't talk more about the goodies inside the limo. The president's car has it' own set of countermeasures.

In the rare event a guy _was_ able to get a clear shot at the limo with an RPG, i think its a little too late for fancy smoke screens 🤨

I highly suspect that all of the airspace near the president's route would be cleared in advance of his travel as well as potentially 1 or 2 military planes of some type monitoring the airspace near the route. That's not counting whatever the process is for airforce one.

As far as changing routes goes, I imagine they have at least two routes scouted ahead of time. So for instance, it would not be so simple as placing a bomb under the route. They'll have teams scouring that route for exactly that kind of thing. In the event of an emergency they won't care about routes. For example, when Reagan was shot they were first headed to the White House but then switched destinations to a hospital once they realized he was wounded. The hospital wasn't secured ahead of time since no one knew that would be necessary. Once things get to a certain point you just have to hope for the best.

Being from Chicago, Obama came to and from here and DC often. He had much more severe security than Biden and Trump because there were more threats. There were always multiple planned routes as well as alternatives and backups. They also would block off portions of the high way for about 20 minutes when they had to go and from the airport.

I live in Scranton, Pennsylvania , where President Biden was born and played Little League baseball until they had to move because there were no jobs here for his father.
He just visited. we watched planes all the time, but when Air Force One comes here (he was here last week - it flew over our house arrivong and leaving), our all wireless communication is down - no internet, no cell phones - nothing when it's arriving or leading for several hours.
All communication is down until Air Force when Air Force One is out of the area everything comes back. It's a pain, but we are President Biden's hometown, and he needs to be safe.

I was working as a Aircraft Mechanic for a local Airline at PDX. The "Crew Van" made regular trips between the Hanger and the Gate (on the other side of the south Runway) by heading to the East along the Frontage Rd to the end of the runway to cross it and then back West to the Gate. President Bush had arrived earlier that day & was at a local Elementary School meaning, Air Force One was on the ground.
I was asked to take the Van to the Gate on it's next run and help w/ some maintenance. In the Van was a New First Officer (aka, the "flap operator ; ), the Driver who we all knew, and another mechanic all headed for the Gate. We'd departed the pick-up area at the Hanger and the moment we pulled up to the Runway Frontage Road to turn East, a PDX Police Officer, who'd been waiting at that intersection, pulled in front of us and Stopped us from proceeding because President Buch was headed for the PDX Airport.
After about an Hour, we could see the East Airport Gates, normally reserved for Airport Maintenance Trucks, had been opened and were heavily guarded by Men in Black suits. The South Runway was only about 100 yards in front of us and the adjacent Taxi Way was even closer to the Frontage Rd we were halted at. Soon there were several Black Chevy Escalades zooming up and down the So Runway & the adjacent Taxiway, w/ their rear doors open, and we could see armed Men in Black sitting in the back facing aft.
President Bush finally showed up about 30 min later and we could see him boarding AF One. As soon as the Main Cabin Door closed, they were pushing back and using the Taxiway right in front of us to head to the West end of the Runway. The New FO rolled down his window and waved wildly at the passing 747 and we all saw somebody wave back. Don't know who it was, but they were that close. It made me wonder what was the whole point of all the security when we were allowed to be that close to AF One, but I guess it was known that we all had already had background checks done just to Work for the Airlines.

The CAT aka the counter assault team are comprised of a lot of former special operations guys that are generally former tier 1 guys meaning delta force and seal team 6 and a couple other units but almost all if not all of them will have a massive amount experience and all of the CAT dudes have to pass extremely difficult training. I’ve never been in the military but I’ve always been fascinated with it and I haven’t seen many interviews with CAT dudes but I have with Ground Branch aka the CIAs tier 1 unit which recruits from the same sort of pools of people and the training or rather the tests and qualifications they have to pass to be accepted are less physical but incredibly mental. For instance they’ll do things like put a bag over your head and hand you a gun that is messed up or jammed and loaded with simunition rounds (basically hard paint ball bullets for training that hurt and can mess you up) and then immediately pull the bag up and simultaneously punch you in the face and several people will run towards you from many directions and you have to fix your gun and decide correctly who to shoot and who not to and shoot the correct people with accuracy before they shoot or stab you or whoever you’re protecting etc. I don’t remember the exact weapon qualifications/accuracy drills but I remember thinking it was borderline impossible (I’m not a terrible shot either) when I was listening to one of the podcasts “The Shawn Ryan Show”, he used to be ground branch I believe but at least was a SEAL and then CIA and was interviewing a dude he knew I think who was ground branch and y’all should react to some of the clips from his channel because y’all would enjoy them and they’re good for views since he has a large following. Anyway obviously CAT has a different job or rather it can have a similar type of job in far different environment and with far less room for error so I doubt they would train that exact senario but still that probably gives some sort glimpse into the oddity and difficulty of their training. Its basically the ultimate best of the best of the best swat team personal security detail since some of the jobs for the tier one units that CAT pulls it’s candidates from is also personal security details so its like the best of the best OF the best OF THE BEST so its kind of de bestest

No one in the USSS calls the Presidential Limo "The Beast" only the media uses that term. My nephew retired from the US Secret Service a few years ago and he said that as soon as you hear someone refer to the Presidential Limo as "The Beast" you know they are clueless. Also Dan Bongino (12 years as a USSS agent) said the same thing recently.
