I have been using this antenna for many years on the ceramic tile floor in my kitchen. I tried attaching a ground wire at one time but the SWR's shot up so it's best left as is. The SWR's are kinda high with the 18 ft. of supplied coax but flatten out nicely with an added run of coax. I've talk skip with it many times when conditions are right.
highly recommended when you're not able to use an outside antenna.

HI Rick, did you put your antenna in the attic?

Not to be a nitpicker but it would have been more helpful if you took it out of the package and set it up I'm dying to know if I can attach a 3/8 diameter ground plane in between the antenna and the so-called ground plane / four leg stand. Great sales pitch though

I run this antenna upstairs. Low swr and works great as long as u have no metal in the area

Not really an operational review...just a sales commercial.

I just ordered the President Andy CB radio and this FireStik Indoor CB base antenna. I plan to make it my home base radio! Any recommendations?

Hey man, I purchased this antenna from your website. It didn't come with instructions. I appreciate the advertisement, but I wish would assemble it for benefit of your customers.

    What about grounding this thing?

I've had to go back to basics I'm using a 4ft springer antenna on a magmount base on a baking tray in my front room but I can't seem to get the swr down it's quite high. I'm transmitting OK but they can hardly hear me and thats breakers near me. maybe it's the antenna or my location as I'm on the first floor of a block of flats. I could but the antenna on something higher if that would help

Under your baking tray, add 2 meter square of tin foil. Your swr will drop under 1.5👍.the Baking tray isn't sufficient enough as a groundplane on its own

This may solve my problem living in an apartment and not being able to install a permanent outside antenna. Though there is a roof that comes right up to my window and I can set it outside on that and bring it inside when the weather gets severe.

the ground plane is part of the 'ground'.. should be placed on a metal sheet, with 3 feet of metal beyond the edge of the ground plane in all directions... the whole point of a 'ground plane' is to ground!. you can also just run a wire froma bolt to a ground pipe... but that's if it's mounted outside where lightning can hit it.

You can't bend the rules of physics. Antennas for this band are big. And they need to be many feet away from metallic objects (usual reason for poor SWR) and just as important, they require a resonant ground-plane. Having an acceptable SWR is always important, but with a compromise antenna like this, it's critical. Get this thing outside and up in the clear at all-cost. You might get-away with compact antennas at VHF, but when a half wave length is about 18 feet, bigger is definitely better.
