no not true. His message needs to be herd by everyone dummies. We already know he makes good music. he got his point across to us. but he needs a bigger following as 2 pac, or Bob Marley when it comes making revolutionary music. I mentioned the two cuz they actually made changes to our world. It still is his art its not easy to be a versatile rapper and make music u can vibe to, party to, and still get a message. Saying "make your art" is ignorance bro.
idris mech Your partly right. His music needs to be heard by everyone, but it will NEVER happen. He is to smart and can not be bought by mainstream music anymore. That reason alone is why he will never be on as big a stage as they were. His music will be heard forever though. Its up to the true fans to push his music and support him. I myself have turned people on to this album that never even knew it was out. He will always have a great fan base.
Tyler Durden If you open two windows and have the album playin in the background on one and this interview on the other, every time the mic goes out, its like somethings happening, like its fading to some song...and then the mic pics back up...goodstuff man
I just love someone who can put art into words. Even when he talks he paints a picture that is so dope to me. I have always been a fan and will continue to be
Fans of hip hop keep saying its dead, but when true hip hop is put out they dont support it.. the people are killing hip hop.. no excuses for why lupe wont sale at least 50 thousand copies this week.. on the positive side, the album is a future classic. The best I have heard in a while and that includes everything from last year as well
Sad thing is that Lupe's album sold 32k last week, while Iggy, Wayne, Nikki and Drake will sell 400k to 1m first week, it's sad when people that only like music so it sounds good bumping in their cars support artist more than the people that likes music because of its message, Hip hop is dead because the so called "real hiphop" fans aren't supporting "real hip-hop", this is why record labels fuck up good rappers music because they want rappers to make stupid shit that the masses will buy.
tjmack010 Its a recurrent theme. so i don't know why you guys are surprised. I already knew this album was not gonna do big numbers, i already know this album WONT get accolades. guys understand we are dissidents. we are cain. we are lucifer. this is esoteric territory. thats why we need to get our shit together and stop procrastinating and letting electronic devices hijack or minds. so then we can change lives by example..
Lupe is easily the best rapper alive there is no category to put him all that top 5 dead or alive talk doesn't exist when it comes to his level and skill he has surpassed jay and nas as far as lyrisim. It's sad because the masses will never get to know this
I agree he's a phenomenal artist, who's misunderstood because he's not a bubble gum rapper or someone who only talks about money, cars, and clothes. He is still one of the best artist I've seen in my life.
Ion Zine How can you not classify him as one of the top 5 dead or alive then? How long has hiphop been around? Not that long, and if he has one of the best albums in a 2 decade span then he is up there.
I hope Lupe fiasco reads this. I became a fan because of this album. You talk about important topics without the animosity and anger of people like immortal technique and Vinnie paz. .not only did I just become a fan, you became my favorite rapper. The Intertwining layers of lyrics just kill it. This album is a Picasso, or a van gogh type of masterpiece that I wanna graffiti the streets with by blasting my speakers.
This album has the greatest showing of lyrical art there has ever been. It's like walking around an art gallery and every track is a picture all creating one exhibition. Adoration of Magi >>>>> any song written you can name. That shits mind blowing. then you get the wink at the end. Lupe thinks he's slick.
***** calm down buddy... this conversation been over for like 1 week lol .......theres no reason for you to continue on talking cause no one gives a shit......just scroll to the next video and let it be...also u shouldn't call someone a idiot just because they have different opinions and don't agree on a subject about music or rap / hip hop....... u sound idiotic thru your comment ......have a nice day..... please don't respond cause it will be a waste of your time and finger strength cause I won't respond lol hahahahaaa
Man this video shows exactly why I love Lupe so much He doesn't care about how other people see him and just does what he does best Why aren't all rappers like him?
huge fan of lupe . he deserves alot more promotion and credit. he's one of the best in the game and yet he gets no recognition for it :( . ill support him always a fan !
Tetsuo & Youth is spectacular lol...how he took video game references, religion, the role of mothers in society, poverty and youth in the ghetto, prison system for different perspectives, and math / récord deals with secret geometry and Number systems is astonishing. Theirs Alot of narratives.....this álbum could be about a monk Tryna reach nirvana, a child trying to reach Peace Thru a hard Life, Lupe's time at Atlantic and HIM being free, Or etc ....Best álbum of the Year!!!!!!!!!! Mural = Lupe's Magnum Opus..... 👍💯🎁💿
Body of work and mural almost got me really emotional. Thanks for supporting my people. After listening to mural, I had a gut feeling you were going to bring up the issue of my country and by my favorite rapper, just blows me away. Best album ever, keep it up. Mad respect for you and always gone support you!
Love Lupe, his mind, his music, his material, is untouch...there's nobody in this industry that's more focus, gifted, & concise all at the same time. He's not blinded by money, he doesn't rap the normal bullshit (money, cars, & clothes), he's raps about the struggle, the slave mindset 80% of this country has. Like he said, Tetsuo & Youth is not for the new fan, it's for his fanbase. It's honestly his best work yet, & nobody except for maybe one person if he wanted too, can make a Tetsuo & Youth. This is a classic people, mark it down! When you speak of Thiller, Illmatic, Blueprint 1, Ready to Die, All eyez on Me, We are the streets, you have to include Tetsuo & Youth now!
I was late watching cuz I was putting my son to sleep but when I seen this that night I literally thanked God that I had ears & eyes. It's amazing how he keeps us guessing, he literally puts the pieces of the puzzle right in our face & like a true master let's us put it all together on our own. Thank you. In love with this album.
Guys, you have to give a big thanks to Hacker Anonymous for giving us this great album. If it wasn't for them putting Atlantic on their asses via twitter, it's likely we would have never gotten this album, and thus Lupe's awesome freedom from this slavery. Great interview!
Around 13:28 to 17:00 Lupe explains the albums construction and functionality. It just make sense man. I honestly think he's one of the coolest dudes alive.
Great fuckin interview. Phenomenal. Everything about it, just perfect. You dont see this kind of lupe in all interviews.. Only when he feels like the people interviewing him are real and true to him and themselves will you see lupe elaborate on questions, comments etc. Awesome explanation of the essence of the album, great side convo's.. Just watching this made me an even bigger lupe fan than I already was. #BeMoreLikeLupe
I don't understand why this guy doesn't get the respect he deserves. From the first time he came on the scene. Food and Liquor to Tetsuo and Youth...he has given us ALOT of content to get US by. Thanks Wasalu Muhammad Jaco for giving us your all. Will forever support this brother...The Creator has really worked through you to change lifes. You helped change mines. Thank You.
FINALLY! Best Lupe Fiasco interview I've seen in a while.....(this is an AUTHENTIC DUDE!) The last few I watched before the album was released he didn't seem himself. Almost like he was frustrated or in turmoil or something like that. I'm so glad I took about an hour to watch this. #LLupeFFLIFE #FAN#17 ;-)
I just started listening to him and I literally think hes a genius! He actually talks about real shit in his songs unlike the rappers that get the most attention like Drake.
I still listen to this album today it's one of my favorites of all time this dude is a musical genius and this album f&l,the cool, drogas wave and house are yall masterpieces but this one is probably my favorite
Well you got my word of mouth. Not only did I buy the album, but I told about 20 friends who bought it. This album is his best yet and I appreciate that he has the humility about his own success. Class act all the way around !!! I am one of those fans who he makes albums for and I will pay for this lyrical masterpiece ten times if need be.
I fucking love this guy. his music opened me to the possibility of intelligent rap and his songs are densely packed with truth and hidden meaning. thank you lupe for doing you & thank you anonymous for making this video possible and album possible.
Most underrated highly intellect most sweep under the rug lyrical master they tried to keep him out of the public and the corporate mainstream who makes sell outs Can't hide him because of you us the people the world wide web LADIES AND GENTLEMAN THIS IS LUPE FIASCO WELCOME TO LUPE LAND.
Tetsuo And Youth was a damn nice album, and yet sales projections have him doing less than 50k this week. I'm not a numbers guy, but I wish it would of sold more. But in any case it's great to see Lupe is off his label now.
Listened to T&Y in its entirety before I watched this and can safely say, best rap albums of 2010 on so far are My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, good kid, MAAD city, and Tetsuo and Youth. Real shit
I hope this album gets the attention it deserves. People keep saying they want great hip hop but don't support it. I recommend purchasing this album, definitely.
I haven't even heard the new album yet but I couldn't agree MORE!!! I'ma be buried with a copy of the Cool, lololololol. I wouldn't change anything about that album.
I don't know man, read what I had to say. genius.com/Harnoor-singh-detailed-explanation-of-tetsuo-and-youth-winter-to-spring-lyrics this is only 1/4 of the whole picture too, the whole thing is too much lmao
Harnoor Singh wow, that was a very interesting write-up. thank you for the insight! I hadn't even thought about those connections to "The Game" on The Cool but it makes perfect sense now that you mention it.
I was the biggest Lupe fan between 2005-2007. Lasers was a disappointment and I lost all faith in Lupe when he dropped F&L 2. He really redeemed himself with Tetsuo & Youth. Best album since The Cool and early candidate for album of the year.
GilC1992 everyone hates on F&L2 because they were still butt hurt over lasers which in its own right was also a great album. "or are we more? than soil tainting DISLOYAL CHANGELINGS" -MURAL- people always hate then come crawling back.
Kingstrumental Music No we hate it cuz it was trash compared to what he'd made b4 & was even worse than Lasers in literally every way (which was unimaginable at the time)
Two solid albums in a row, one classic (Tetsuo & Youth), incredible flows and lyrics (Form Follows Function) and Lupe still isn't in people's top 10s. This generation of fans are plain ignorant if they don't start recognising the real top MCs in hip-hop. On a side note: Lupe went from a low haircut, to a fro, to braids to dreadlocks . . . this guy's like a Pokemon who's final evolution is rastafarian. He's a legend.
Great interview. Only reason I still listen to hip-hop is because of Lupe and Kendrick. Art and puzzles on a track. Haven't listen to a artist this inspirational since Pac
Lupe's album is a all around great work of art.He painted the cover, the interludes the extended verses not being cut down, That is art! He's got Three great albums and this one is one of them and this is the greatest of the three. Blew J. Cole out the water and J. Cole dropped a good album too he always does but the journey, the message the all around artistic package is great in "Tetsuo & Youth"
I'm with him in regards to art. Thank God somebody cares about making high quality music while pushing the artform further. That's what we need, not to focus on massive record sales.
I love music and I've never been into Hip Hop. I needed to for some reason and I've seen that there's a big gangsta mainstream which is dominant and probably the reason why I was so reluctant to approach hip hop. And then I happen to listen to Tetsuo & Youth, and I was like.. finally! no swearing, no bitches, no exaggeration in any sort of way. Simply music and art. I hope Lupe can inspire other rappers to do so. I like this album!
Ivan Conte There are many many rappers like that. You just need to look online and find recommendations. Do not let what is played constantly on radio, commercials, and the like influence what you think rap is. Because all labels and businesses care about is making money so whatever sells is what they put out and people don't care to listen to much if it takes actual attention to understand the song. Glad you found his album I hope you can find more rappers that you will love.
Love this man. I grew up in my teens playing food and liquor and the cool. now I'm 19 in college and this incredible rapper still forces my brain to think. Tetsuo & Youth is food for thought for the mind with pleasure for the ears. I'll give this one some more time but I think this may be my favorite albums EVER. and thats competing with kendricks albums nas's albums Outkast, The roots, Mf doom, Kanye, eminem, Jay-Z(reasonable Doubt) and Jay electronica IF HE EVER FUCKING DROPS!!! >:(
He says he doesn't think this album is for new fans and doesn't think someone can pick it up and become a Lupe fan, but that's exactly what happened to me lol I had never heard a single Lupe song in my life as far as I know. I gave this album a listen and Lupe Fiasco instantly became one of my top 10 favorite rappers
Lupe is an amazing lyricists the album was great from front to back. I still can't believe people are sleeping on him he is so underrated it's crazy. I think if he got another radio hit he will be able to get his name back out there so people might go check out his album. I blame the radio because that's what majorities listen to and it's just the same people. They need to mix it up more.
I purchased this album wasn't really a fan of it but I been a Lupe supporter since the very beginning. I honestly just hope he can get some better production on his next one food and liquor style or freind of the people ish. I just have a hard time focusing on his lyrics with the beats he's been using lately.
Every album he put out was a masterpiece, especially the cool. Food and liquor was a story about Michael young history( My cool young history) and the cool album pretty much summarize the whole story plus he had amazing tracks like go go gadget, Paris Tokyo, hip hop saved my life. The other tracks were a continuation to his story. Homie the best rapper hands down, hope you feel the same for me when my album drop
Kendrick Lamar. Jermaine Cole. Mr. Lupe... They make true hip hop. They speak on what they see and how they feel about it and interpret it. He loves to rap. They all do. And EXPRESS themselves and their peers stories. They will not sugar coat anything and for that I will always support artists with these qualities in mind.
Forget radio. Just make your art and us fans will support you !
Definitely.
true that man, true that!
no not true. His message needs to be herd by everyone dummies. We already know he makes good music. he got his point across to us. but he needs a bigger following as 2 pac, or Bob Marley when it comes making revolutionary music. I mentioned the two cuz they actually made changes to our world. It still is his art its not easy to be a versatile rapper and make music u can vibe to, party to, and still get a message. idris mech Your partly right. He will always have a great fan base.
idris mech
am i the only one who's annoyed by the mic cracking and cutting out? damn...
Tyler Durden i thought it was my speakers for a sec
Must be poopy speakers
Tyler Durden If you open two windows and have the album playin in the background on one and this interview on the other, every time the mic goes out, its like somethings happening, like its fading to some song...and then the mic pics back up...goodstuff man
It's his chains. His mic is too close to his chains. They should have placed the mic a better place on him.
It definitely ruins the great interview
Lupe is the greatest of all time hands down.
Congoid Negus Thats a bold statement. Far from the best but definitely one of the best of this generation.
***** what do you even know about rap????
+SX VB I think Tupac is the Goat buddy. sounds like a young nigga statement to say Lupe is the goat
MobileCyris real cute
+MobileCyris pac is a cliche answer. he had alot of filler and features on his albums
I just love someone who can put art into words. Even when he talks he paints a picture that is so dope to me. I have always been a fan and will continue to be
Marry me that's it
Alex Tavera lol I just seen this
Don't listen to this foo you gotta marry me lmao
So does that mean yea lol
Lol you 2 are funny
Funny thing is Tetsuo & Youth got me hooked to this guy. Also loving the hairstyle. Hope he keeps it.
Same
Fans of hip hop keep saying its dead, but when true hip hop is put out they dont support it.. the people are killing hip hop.. no excuses for why lupe wont sale at least 50 thousand copies this week.. on the positive side, the album is a future classic. Its a recurrent theme. so i don't know why you guys are surprised. I already knew this album was not gonna do big numbers, i already know this album WONT get accolades. guys understand we are dissidents. we are cain. we are lucifer. this is esoteric territory. thats why we need to get our shit together and stop procrastinating and letting electronic devices hijack or minds. so then we can change lives by example..
tjmack010 i think part of it is promotion really. I mean, a lot of ppl didn't even know Lupe dropped another album until I told them.
yeah if this isn't in my top 5 at the end of the year, I would be damned
Lupe is easily the best rapper alive there is no category to put him all that top 5 dead or alive talk doesn't exist when it comes to his level and skill he has surpassed jay and nas as far as lyrisim. It's sad because the masses will never get to know this
I cant stress that enough
It's hard to argue to people that only see "money" as the result of being a good rapper.
I agree he's a phenomenal artist, who's misunderstood because he's not a bubble gum rapper or someone who only talks about money, cars, and clothes. He is still one of the best artist I've seen in my life.
I don't agree with him being a top 5 rapper dead or alive; but Tetsuo & Youth is one of the greatest hip hop albums in over 20 years.
Ion Zine How can you not classify him as one of the top 5 dead or alive then? How long has hiphop been around? Not that long, and if he has one of the best albums in a 2 decade span then he is up there.
T&Y is a masterpiece in it's amazingly graceful nature.
this guy lupe an artistic genius man
I hope Lupe fiasco reads this.
The intelligence and art that come from Lupe is why I dig him the most. I could listen to him speak all day.
This album set the bar high for 2015. Full of concepts and sonically is amazing.
K-rino - journey thru metaphor labyrinth, imagination, duality, annihilation of that evil machine, and sorcerers den can compete!
Xavier Turner the maven can compete, duality wasn't that sick
Xavier Turner and journey thru metaphor can't compete with mural

You're dumb lol.
This is a historical interview because T&Y is a masterpiece. True piece of art. There HAS TO BE some tech in 2024 that can fix the sound on this.
Man this video shows exactly why I love Lupe so much
He doesn't care about how other people see him and just does what he does best
Why aren't all rappers like him?
Just glad to see him happy again.
We're so blessed we got this album.
huge fan of lupe . he deserves alot more promotion and credit. he's one of the best in the game and yet he gets no recognition for it :( . ill support him always a fan !
This dude is so intelligent. He already had mainstream success early in his career so he's not worried about that anymore; just making good music.
Great interview.
this album was so much more than i dared to hope for. completely blown away by it.
Tetsuo & Youth is spectacular lol...how he took video game references, religion, the role of mothers in society, poverty and youth in the ghetto, prison system for different perspectives, and math / récord deals with secret geometry and Number systems is astonishing. Lupe been the GOAT to me since I 1st heard him about 15yrs ago...helped my mind build cunning at an early age!

Lupe The Great

Dope interview! This is crazy! I'm so hype! i love the album even more now!
Tetsuo And Youth = Lupes Masterpiece
I disagree with Lupe on one thing...this wasn't his least flawed album, "The Cool" was. That shit was a fucking masterpiece

best album in 12 years
you dont have to be in the radio. you are the best rapper ever happened to this generation. you are the best we support you 100 percent
how can you not just adore him 😍⏳🔥
Notice he hinted for you to listen to the album backwards at the 55:04 mark, as the album was upside down
did you find anything?
Lupe's album is a all around great work of art.He painted the cover, the interludes the extended verses not being cut down, That is art! He's got Three great albums and this one is one of them and this is the greatest of the three. Blew J. Cole out the water and J. Cole dropped a good album too he always does but the journey, the message the all around artistic package is great in "Tetsuo & Youth"
Tetsuo and Youth = Magnum Opus!
You asked the right questions, very well done
Awesome interview, skee.
Cant wait to listen
this interview made me listen to lupe album salute skee
thank yoooooou sooooooo much for those time tags
I'm with him in regards to art. Thank God somebody cares about making high quality music while pushing the artform further. That's what we need, not to focus on massive record sales.
Dayum, Lupe's hair looking on point
First time I heard of Skee was through The Game mixtapes when he was going after G-Unit. Skee's come a long way.
1) dots and lines

Lupe from another world...
Awesome stuff Lupe...You're fucking AMAZING....
I used to say I miss the old Lupe, the nerd Lupe... And now he's back, you can see it all in this interview.
Lupe and Kendrick is all I need
I think it's aswome that cares so much about his craft and knows he made something great
This is his best album since The Cool. I haven't even listened to it all and it is probably one of the best albums I've listened to in years.
Such a great album. Sad that he was not able to pull off another classic since but I guess he transcended Rap and HipHop
Lupe had been freed hahaha
Masterpiece leaves bs in pieces and keeps m in peace
Please come to south africa
THANK YOU!
Idc if Lupe doesnt get played on the radio. I still love his music. Hella better than what's on the radio now
The cool was sick as shit, but this album is on a whole different plane.
I purchased this album wasn't really a fan of it but I been a Lupe supporter since the very beginning. I honestly just hope he can get some better production on his next one food and liquor style or freind of the people ish. I just have a hard time focusing on his lyrics with the beats he's been using lately.
you tripping... this is a great album. you must be a wayne fan
Im not a wayne fan
I might just buy this joint too. Got a 5 CD changer sterio so I"m stocking up on Records, this being one of them.
Classic Album straight up.
Lupe>Kendrick>Absoul>Jcole. There you have it. Now respect that order #NoOl'G
blu, lupe>>>>>>>
+fidelis phiri Lupe, Blu, Elzhi, Ab-Soul>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Every album he put out was a masterpiece, especially the cool. Food and liquor was a story about Michael young history( My cool young history) and the cool album pretty much summarize the whole story plus he had amazing tracks like go go gadget, Paris Tokyo, hip hop saved my life. The other tracks were a continuation to his story. Homie the best rapper hands down, hope you feel the same for me when my album drop
If Lupe Does Sign To Any Record Label, I can see him Sign To Top Dawg Entertainment/Aftermath.
This is my favorite album
I hope he's talking abut me! I'm DEFINITELY one of those 16!!!!!!! Lupe The Fiasco All Day!!!!!!!
I love this guy..
