Rafael Artiga prisoners 1 and 2 has more complex bars, i prefer it over murals but yeah, Mural is just fire the whole song is just bars after bars and the flow is contious asf.
the album didn't take a turn. It flows perfectly with the story being told. There's a reason that chopper is the first song after winter, and deliver comes after that. Notice during winter there are no kids outside playing like the other interludes, you pointed out yourself that its darker. Chopper is painting the picture of the worst of the ghetto that lupe grew up in and deliver follows, giving you the consequences
My boy pointed out this line on T&Y "Started at the end, that's the part where you begin." and gave me an idea to play the songs in backwards order. So far it flows a lot better than the regular version. I guess Tetsuo is the forward version and Youth is the backwards version.
Grom Hellscream Yeah he said that he isn't worried about trying to get new fans. He said this album is specifically for the hardcore fans who love him for his wordplay and other things. And what is even better is he has two projects after this, Skulls and The Cool 2. And he said that Skulls is even better than T&Y and The Cool 2 is even better than Skulls so we have two great albums to look forward to.
megamixa He said it's from 2 shows, I don't know how many Tetsuo's there are but he clarified that one of them was from Akira and the other one could be the one you named.
Without a doubt. I'm a huge Cole fan, but this album by Lupe is too nice, I'm on my 100th listen and it keeps getting better. I got tired of FHD after the 10th listen so it doesn't have too much replay value to me.
wabammoneymaker Well.. maybe not the whole album, but it's def up in the high 70's right now. That's also me with B4.DA.$$, I've heard it once through but can't go back to it because of how good T&Y is. Also if you watched this video, you basically listened to a little bit of every song so...
Lasers was not a bad project. It was definitely better than most of the stuff that was released that year. Food & Liquor II was actually a good album. Tetsuo & Youth is one of the best albums ever made period.
This is the 2nd best hip hop album of this decade behind To Pimp A Butterfly in my opinion, the whole concept of this album is just remarkable... it's art. Not to mention Mural, and Prisoner 1 & 2 could be some of the best songs of this decade as well.
Same, its legit my favorite music album of all time. So many underlying themes, connections to religion, his upbringing, the elite-level lyricism throught, very diverse and tasteful instrumentals, how the sound & subject matter progressively changes per season...there is SO much to it.
@@ptrcrispy Incredibly well said. I have not found anything close to this album in the slightest. This is the greatest album of all time. I am a huge Fort Minor fan, Joyner Lucas, Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique, etc.. They have some classic story telling songs but T&Y has the best song list of all time. All unique in their own way, practically all the instrumentals are good and melodic (which is always unusual for most albums), and the more and more you listen to a song the more double entendres and hidden meanings you can pick out. This isn't some sort of pseudo art. I think most of rap is not art. This album is the exception. This really is the greatest album of all time dude and I am happy someone finally agrees with me!
This is his best work I can't believe people that say his first two albums are better this is the best album in 18 years I don't get it since 97 there has not been a better album.
Fearless Q8 None of them albums are better you're not saying much. Eminem has not done an album better then this album. Stillmatic is not better, I Am (I don't know why the album or The Eminem Show was brought up), 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Trying is one of my person favorites and T&Y destroys all these albums. T&Y is monumental masterpiece and so is now To Pimp A Butterfly.
Ion Zine you have to be kidding me man, this album is great don't get me wrong but its not better than the classics that I have mentioned, at least MMLP, GRODT and Stillmatic, stay real
Fearless Q8 Your crazy I don't understand why I'm responding to some who thinks T.I. has anything classic in his catalogue. Then mentions an album that wasn't better the his first 2 garbage albums. Lupe T&Y is one the greatest hip hop albums ever and I go back from the golden age era. No one has done what Lupe has done on this album. Now...are there better albums? Yes but not many and there definitely isn't a better album in the past 18 years other then something parallel ex: Dead Prez: Let's Get Free and maybe Outkast: Aquimini (I don't think so) but nothing else. This album blows everything out the water...Trust me I didn't think Lupe would ever come out with something this good. I always knew he was capable of making a classic album but not a masterpiece. People will appreciate this later on when they catch on to everything he did on this album.

Harnoor Singh Great analysis. I love Deliver's meaning. "Papa Johns" and Little Caesars" is like saying fathers and the government. But yeah, like you said, go out and get the peace of man yourself, don't always rely on others to delivery it for you. Don't rely on government programs to make you survive the hood, etc.
No bull but when I first heard the album I didn't get past track 2 aka Mural for an entire week. Then I was blown away by the rest of the album of course but Mural is in another stratosphere as far as songs go in any genre. Insane
Ayesha Jaco is the person who did the intro on Food & Liquor 2 by reading off a poem about modern issues. She fulfills a similar role on Tetsuo & Youth, which is a really cool callback in my opinion.

Dude I agree. I wasn't blown away by the rest of the album, it wasn't bad, bad I can't get enough of mural
Yes I agree with this statement so much.

When I heard Mural I was just blown away man. The amount of bars in that song was fucking CRAZY
Cmon Chelseaaa
DaMoziTB Yh if you like that song check out Dead Presidents 3 by Logic..sounds similar
DaMoziTB Yh picture is worth a thousand words so it's no coincidence that murals has 1037 words
DaMoziTB Yh *1377 words

Exactly backwards is growing up and fowards is growing down
Hopefully I speak for everyone when I say BIGQUINT's reaction to Prisoner 2 is how we all reacted.
Word.
Kalamite LMAOOO yeah
Adoration of the Magi is pure genius!
Selassie I caught the baby references instantly and I thought it was pure genius.
in 5 years, people will see this album is better than The Cool and Food & Liquor. Yup. I said it. It's better than both.
I don't think it will have the same legacy, people don't care about Lupe like they did in 2006-07, unfortunately.
Grom Hellscream Yeah he said that he isn't worried about trying to get new fans. He said this album is specifically for the hardcore fans who love him for his wordplay and other things. I agree with you this song has too much meaning and too much lyricism. This is his best work up to date.
Absolutely loved this album.
CrimsonChinnyChinChins don't know if it's on the same level tho, but this album got one of best rap song of all time, so it would mean a lot.
Definitely!!
I think the title comes from an old Japanese anime movie called Akira. Its about the fall of a boy named tetsuo.
That's what I first thought
It is, the album isn't about him but he did help influence the story.
***** he did confirm the character did influence the album though, he's just not the main guy. He said that in his skee interview.
I thought it was from Tetsuo: The Ironman.
megamixa He said it's from 2 shows, I don't know how many Tetsuo's there are but he clarified that one of them was from Akira and the other one could be the one you named.
am I the only that liked the banjo in dots and lines? lol
I had the same reaction when I heard Dots&lines.
Gotta say my fav was body of work don't gotta say shit about mural of course that shit was epic.
This albums amazing. Dehh loved this. Everyone loves him. Lupes a gangsta
Mike said it was the album 2015 LMAO
Ibedesire a poetic gansta that is
to me it was the best 2015 album, followed by TPAB, Music for my friends, 90059, Sour Soul, L'Orange album and Shadow of a doubt
90059 jay rock classic
Juanni Why Am I So Happy by Spose was dope.
Malibu?
Sakaru Kamaah 2015
Juanni Oh, my bad. Got the years mixed up.
This Album Killed Forest Hill Drive
It did tho

and it did such justice to this album's BEATS cuz they are so DOPE.

Quite possibly the greatest hip hop record of all time
The way in which this album was split into 'seasons' was something different. Lupe def delivers on this

3 years later, but imo Drogas Wave tops both, T&Y and TPAB.
@@Portthefirst they not topping GKMC & MBDTF.
2015 was a pretty solid year for hip hop
his reaction to the beat switch on prisoners was fucking priceless! XD
what the hell his going onn??!!
"Corn Squares" I know the struggle, but like J.Cole said "theres beauty in the struggle"
Body of work is so fucking fire
Connor Farrell I love the hook
Plus, Terrace Martin's sax solo tho...
Hugo Arruda dos Santos I shit you not that solo made a single tear run down my cheek
This dude really takes a cereal break and roasts kim jong Un half way through for no reason lol.
"the fucks up wit the banjo bro" lmao thats what i was sayin
Not going to lie, I loved every song on this album. It might be his best one for me. So much art in this album.
