if you look around the starter or behind it you will find a engine cast number there it will read somthing like d3e ect. it will tell you the engine year and size. i have iether a 74 351m or 400 or a 351c and under the valve covers the cast number for the heads are there..drivers side front left corner may have a .4 or .2 it refers to the cleavland head being a 2 barrel intake or 4 barrel intake. hope this helps you on other motors but the head info might help with yours nice truck! the old fellow that had it is happy to see it on the road again. the rear brakes might haveto get under it and take the slack up useing the slot on the bottom back of the wheel..there is a star in there one side goes up the other down to get the pedal to come back up to force mine had no slack adjusters they may have rotted off the small cable that turns the star. most cars trucks you back up and jam the brakes and the slack adjuster does the job for you, but you can adjust it maualy..jack wheel up adjust , spin to check if rubbing. done :)
Ummmmm no sir. I have the the cheapest highboy in the US. Haha few months ago I got a 77 highboy for free. Few minor repairs and she’s on the road. Beautiful truck though. Congrats on your dream truck.
Tell Nancy those trucks never had great breaks or steering! U have to be a actual man & drive that truck! If u let it drive itself u will eventually kill some poor sap in Chevy avalanche! U have a extremely nice & solid truck there! These things are the real deal! I work with & rebuild these truck my whole life. Get yourself a LMC truck magazine. There located in Kansas city & they have alot of good parts for almost everything u need for that truck. Find out what axles u have. If that front axle is a Dana 60, u got a real beast of a machine!!! Oh ya, that transmission is a C6 and they are practically bullit proof!!!
Jesse Duke good condition? I can’t hardly believe anybody could get a running and driving, no rust, good paint truck with all the extra goodies this one has for $400
It was a few months back! I ended up selling it to Cool Classic Rides in Sherwood and they’ve already moved it to a new home. You should check it out on their page - it was nicely buffed and turned into a two tone.
Nice truck, they still make 16.5" tires, and you can swap to a 16" wheel on that truck too.

Awesome truck I have a 77 Continental 460 C.I. backed with a c6 and AVS 2 carb on top, I get roughly 10mpg. It's straight piped true duals as well.
The cougar is looking good too.
Yeah! An Oregon boy. Its cool except for the U of O sticker on it! Lowers the cool factor! Todd the retired trucker.
Haha I agree with you! First thing I did was take the sticker off - it was more fitting given that I drive an orange el Camino and go to OSU
Great find! That will be a great truck once you sort it out.
SCORE!! Have fun with it, Brother!
Stay safe, stay healthy!
That's a sweet truck! I've got a 78 F100 ranger that I traded a free bmw for. They're extremely easy to work on and pretty dependable
ALL Ford trucks had the tank behind the seat until 77
Love it man, I need to fix my truck, lmao.
