@platinumyaadmusic6410 really well done video. Nice job! Were you using Rel's high level connections? If so, did you have the red and yellow cables twisted together? If not, how did you wire them? Thank you very much for the video and answering.
If I was buying new subs ... I might directly go for the Carbons. But to replace my current 2 S/510s with Carbons ... not going to spend that kind of money.
Trust me when I say the Carbons are a completely different animal compared to the S/510Ss or the S/812s. I own 2 Carbons and they never cease to amaze me.
Cool review thanks. I have the 812 with some active atc scm50a. Had it for 6 months. Very good and very happy and can keep up with the excellent atc's.i fancied the carbon special but couldn't find second hand one but this review has convinced me i should have a listen. The atc's are excellent speakers and can work better with better sub's. I 'll give it a try. Interestingly i was considering the arendal line of subs as they looked excellent design quality and value but went with the 812. Sounds like it could have been a good option between the 812 and carbon special for way less?
If I'm honest the arendal 1723 1v out performs the rel s812 but the arendals are significantly bigger.. if your not worried about size then yeah I would go for the arendals
I can guarantee before even watching this vid that the carbon special will be preferred even tho there is precious little diff between the two. I've heard them both.
@hawkmoon369 . Hey, I want to start off by saying what a great pair of front speakers. Because they are so capable, I would be inclined to cross them over around 50hz and apply a suitable gain, just enough to notice your subs are missing when you switch them off.
I have two of the 812s with Sopra 3 and I'm super happy. They have more power than I could or would EVER use.🫣 They are tight, fast and go deep to 19htz, all the attributes for simless implementation in hi end stereo. My subs are only set from 30htz, so they don't overstep lower frequencies of my Sopras. I have them also connected at the same time to my Anthem 1140MRX surround amp and I'm very satisfied with them too. I truly highly recommend them. I can't imagine someone not being happy with 812s and for the extra $2K they could already buy a nice cables for their system or buy a room treatment, or a streamer, etc. You know.
I moved from a pair of S/510 to Carbon Special and the difference is night and day! It worths every penny
It would be cool to include how you had them wired and settings used.
On reflection I agree.

I appreciated your review. You showed what that extra $1K can give you, which the specs did not disclose..
Thanks Ron
The surround on the Carbon is significantly more beastly.
Could you please give a detailed comparison between the Rel Carbon and the Arendal 1723 1V?
Hi, I'm going to get two Carbons in to review later this year/ early next year. At that point I will provide a lot more detail.
Nice vid I love the Michael Jackson part 5:43
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Sony will drop planner magnetic speakers soon seeing how they bought audeze it will be interesting

I know what you mean. I would love to make the the jump but haven't got the ££
Ii think 2 510's or any two quality subs will be a tough match for a single carbon.

Hehehe, you're right!
Which Michael Jackson track you play?
How many clicks on the dail did you go on crossover and clicks for gain.
Hey Hawkmoon. I think the crossover was turned around 12 clicks and gain was just over halfway so running slightly warm.
@platinumyaadmusic6410 I am using 2 s812 with focal sopra 2 so how many clicks on crossover would you recommend and gain. Thanks for reply

olá, obrigado, precisava mesmo desse comparativo :)
abraço.
Can you tell me how the 1723 2v vs carbon?
The 1723 2v is much more dynamic but the carbons are a more sophisticated bass and most likely blend with your speakers more.
Wow great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
What’s the title of the intro song?
It's an instrumental I made and not officially released.
@@platinumyaadmusic6410that’s lit. I want the full version please.

The 812s are great subwoofers.
