    People told me that i should learn acoustic guitar before electric guitar.
    However, it has always been the sound of an electric guitar in songs that took me to ecstasy ❤🌺... So I bought an electric guitar... Cos, the procedure to learn is the same in both types. I'm just so satisfied😊

      @@fall447 so you speak :/ however learning guitar is a journey through time, it’s kinda up to you with how you spend time. So to speak you’ve already given time to think about it so might as well curate that time before you regret it, it’ll come quicker before you know it

    i wanted to play electric but i was forced into acoustic amd while i love playing, i still doubt my parents decision. they asked their friend who is a “musician” aka a guy who just plays guitar sometimes at the local pub. i hope i get to start in a year or two.

    Honestly I want both you see acoustic for one song (the devil wears a suit and tie) but also a lot of just pick it up and start playing random songs for the mood or boredom but the electric because of AC/DC I’ve listened to a few songs and fell in love so I wanna listen album by album and play the songs that both challenge me and I won’t get tired of so I’m leaning toward electric but who knows

  • @invasivebird5646
    @invasivebird5646 9 місяців тому +1

    Acoustic first for sure! If you plan on playing both which most do, start with the acoustic. Yes it’s hard all around including Harder’s strings but that’s what it is about.
    Acoustic is more raw and manual. It’ll build up your calluses more and exercise your hand and finger placements more because electric is softer and easier to play.
    Point is, putting good amount of hours on acoustic will make the transition to electric feel ALOT BETTER. Starting on electric, the easier one you can do but if/when you transition to acoustic you won’t know what to expect, yeah you will know chords and play songs but terms of that raw feeling of the harder strings and your fingers will hurt.

    Obviously Electric Guitar is physically the most beginner friendly because the strings are under lower tension, easier action, & flatter body.

    I want to learn guitar but my dad said i should learn acoustic before electric. I truly don’t understand why since they are fairly similar and all the songs i want to play are electric. I despise the sound of acoustic since it sounds too country- does anyone have any tips to convince him?

      Fender makes amazing guitars in Mexico that are affordable. Save up your money, and don’t skimp out. Buy used, and buy the very best you can afford. It’ll make you appreciate the process more. Good luck.

    Just no man jesus.
    Reasons to start with acoustic: 1. You only ever want to play acoustic. 2. You enjoy pain. 3. Hand cramps and carpal tunnel are a goal of yours
    Reasons to start with electric: 1. Drop 9's on it.. or even 8's and its doubtful you'll ever find playing painful. 2. Your range of tones is LITERALLY infinite. Including getting VERY close to acoustic. 3. You want to be able to play any kind of music from country to metal to pop to blues to anything. 4. Theyre sexy. Acoustics can make beautiful music.. noone on earth has ever called an acoustic sexy or sat at their desk seen their acoustic and thought "i just want to touch it".. Im surrounded by 5 electrics right now. Its really hard not to pick one of them up and just hold it. 5. You'll learn MUCH faster on an electric. That chord that just made your fingers bleed on the acoustic and still sounded like shit you'll play beautifully within 10 minutes of the first time you picked up an electric. You will have nailed/memorsed all the major chords on electric in a week practicing 15 minutes a day..
    I could go on for hours. As a rule if a guitar instructor says either a: you must learn on acoustic b: you must like these bullshit songs/style I like c: you have to learn to read music first ... flip him off or tell him to fuck off and go find an actual guitarist.

      ps tips to newbies. Acoustic WILL make your fingers bleed. Its doubtful you'll be able to fret chords without buzz etc for months (til your hands get much stronger)

    • @aceofspades1815
      @aceofspades1815 7 років тому +2

      Well the electric is just a more techy version of the acoustic it's the same and if you don't want pain then the electric is the best way to go

    • @eiregonzo97

      But players who learn on acoustic can transfer over to electric with ease. The same can't be said for the other way around.

    • @ijustnoticediexisted253

      Honestly,If someone is inspired to play the acoustic let them play,if they are happier with acoustic than let them play acoustic. I used to play electric,I was tired of amps cables and pedals,and not being able to sit comfortably and just play. I got myself a norman b20 from the shed,fixed it up at a guitar store for about $100,and there I had it,I could take it anywhere whenever without having to worry about a thing. I pick it up and play. My fingers bled,I was in pain,but I didn’t stop because I loved the music I was making and the instrument I was playing on. If I decide to pick up an electric tomorrow it’ll be way easier for me to learn it,than someone who played the electric,but picked up an acoustic.If it was the same story for you but with an electric,Great! It inspires you to play! Just don’t go telling people your type of instrument is better because different things inspire different people.

    9 out of 10. No, 99 out of 100 guitars are just sitting in a corner. Your first guitar should be an electric. Why? Because 12 gauge strings will just not be played because the strings just hurt your fingers too much. You can set up electrics with 10 or even 9 gauge strings. Plus 10 gauge strings can be bent so much easier. I have a hollow body Epiphone electric, so you can still practice without the amp. OH BTW Epiphone guitars suck. Then I've got a Taylor acoustic. I love the Taylor and even with the heavier strings, I like playing it more than the electric. The lowest price on a Taylor is about $1000.00. But I've played Yamaha's and others that really sound good. The reason I said that the Epiphone sucks is because, the "gold" plated metal hardware has turned green. This doesn't sound like gold plated to me. Second the high "E" and low "E" strings both slip off the rollers with both 11 and 10 gauge strings when I'm "hitting it hard." Not something you want happening on stage. Third, the damn neck is too fat. And I have big hands. It is way thicker than the Taylor. Maybe that's why I like playing the Taylor more. Fourth, I've only had the guitar for maybe a year and a half and the 3 position switch for the pick-ups is already not functioning half the time. And when I got the guitar new, the plug-in socket wasn't tight. So the plug-in fell inside the guitar and you can't imagine how hard it is to replace accessories sticking your fingers through the "F" holes. And lastly, the intonation of the Epiphone is sooo off, that playing it at times makes me feel like I'm eating lemons. Intonation is bad string placement by the factory that bridge tuning will not fix Or in other words I can never ever tune this guitar so that every chord sounds in tune. The intonation on the Taylor is spot on and they had to get it right from the factory because Taylor acoustics aren't bridge tunable.
    So there you have it. Take along someone you know that plays every day and don't buy the prettiest guitar. Let your friend guide you. Buying a guitar will take at least the whole day. Eventually, you will find a guitar that talks to you, buy me, buy me, When I played the Taylor, that's what happened. I already had a Takamine and a Estaban acoustics. The Takamine was a piece of crap in my opinion so I traded it in and the Esteban I gave to a kid in my neighborhood.
    It takes 3 months to get finger tip calluses and finger strength. Look at it like a heroin addict. It may seem at the beginning that there will never be an end, but time heals everything. JUSY DON'T STOP PRACTICING !
