I love all that stereo gear behind you Todd, pretty amazing. My local store in Midland never orders a lot of RSD. It is so costly to them and if it doesn’t sell it ties up their inventory. Their goal is to sell out early. He has a crate of past RSD that just sits there. In Groove has traffic and can move product even after RSD. You found some nice stuff Todd, I always enjoy the clips you show

Hi Todd 😊 Came across your channel via Steve Carlson, we’re fellow VC’ers I guess. I was thrilled by this video, because, as a Scandinavian I kind of keep an eye out for north americans mentioning bands rarely mentioned «over there». And not only do you mention but you bought the same Keane record as I did! I think the only other VC person over there who ever mentioned Keane was Steve? This record, allthough recorded in the Netherlands, was special to me as I saw them on that tour in Oslo. And it was one of the most thrilling live experiences of my life. I don’t think I could talk for two days after!
OMD, another great pick. I have that deluxe CD you showed.
Anyhow. Subscribing to your channel, if you want to see a Danish trip to RSD, take a gander at my channel. Oh. And I love the Peanuts. I’m sort of a failed cartoonist myself, my dad reading comics for me, specially Peanuts is a very fond memory.

I got Air, Daft Punk, Lost in Translation, U2, Ultravox, OMD (Crush) in store. Got Midge Ure, and OMD (Bauhaus Staircase-RSD) online through indie stores.
Nice! I've been looking for a copy of OMD's Crush on vinyl. I tried to order from discogs a few years back but it came warped. Midge Ure, Bauhaus, Ultravox!! man those are all great choices!! I like your taste!
Hi Todd, I live in NYC and Rock & Soul here has a great way how they handle it. They hand out the list to everyone on line then before they open they collect the list. When it is your turn to enter the store they hand you the records they have. You then have the opportunity to still look at the remaining records that haven’t been pulled yet. I was there at 4:20 AM and got all but one record. Ending up getting 10 records. The line was over 100 people when they opened at 8:00AM and I was number 20 on line.
That's awesome! I wish all record stores ran it that way! Seems like a better way to do it than people just mad dashing lol.
Hi Todd, the queues in the UK this year were crazy. I kinda got most of what I wanted, I ended up with 7 records this year. You did well getting 3 out of 4. Are you still trying to locate Peanuts? I watch the In-Groove videos and I agree they’re great. Mike

@@toddthemod Ziggy Marley in July and Howard Jones in August with special guest, Martin Fry of ABC. I got a backstage pass to meet Howard and his band. It will be worth it.

I went to four stores and didn't find any of the Vince Guaraldi title either. Between watching store and customer videos, I do not believe that 1,000 units made its way to stores. Just wanted to make sure you know it's coming out on July 5. The only difference is it will be blue vinyl instead of green.
Hey fredpatek! Thank you for mentioning this! I'm so stoked it's coming out on July 5th! I will for sure get it then. yeah I'm questioning about the 1000 units as well. When I went to RSD I saw one person with it and he told me it was on a table at the other end of the store. Made my way through the crowd and it wasn't there. Questioning how many was ordered from that store (Zia's Records) and the Zia record store in Tempe didn't put everything out as employees were finding stuff in the back.

Hey Todd, I usually do the In-Groove every RSD, but this time I decided to try my local mom & pop (Grace Records), got there around 4am, already 40 people or so in line, but I got what I wanted, Ladytron and Siouxsie. I have never done Zia for RSD, but it looks like you made out ok.
Siouxsie! Almost got that one and now kind of regret not getting it. Yeah I love The InGroove. It's officially my favorite record store. I always see Mike in there but am too nervous to go say hi lol. (Stupid I know). I haven't heard of ladytron but I will check them out. Going to watch your RSD Video now. ;-)

RSD=Record Store Disaster
I arrived at my local record store 1st and waited since 3am that day. This was my first RSD experience (I usually buy them online the day after). I don't know what my local store was thinking but they let about 75 people in the store at one time and it became complete mayhem (they had a sign on the door saying 5 people at a time AND EVEN HIRED SECURITY). I left with 0 records or items that I wanted. People that I have never seen shop there had arms full of records almost as if they were scalpers. I was very disappointed and I will be changing record stores that I shop at now. I loved being a regular at my local store but this was the worst experience I have ever had with records, worse than buying anything off of the UMG website.
aw man I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with RSD (I love your definition by the way). Shame on your record store for not being more coordinated. I was disappointed at Zia's record stores here in AZ but it sounds like your experience was worse. Sorry my friend. I may be wrong but RSD on black Friday was better and less chaotic.

This was my first RSD experience and all I can say is that the whole concept is completely incomprehensible to me. Why would you willingly create a scenario that makes buying your product as difficult and unpleasant as possible? Happy for anyone to explain it to me.
yeah I agree. It' was not pleasurable and stressful. The InGroove record store which I love was less chaotic and done in a way where it was worth the wait but generally, it's insane how they make it where people just trample over you to get records. Insane.
@@toddthemod Sounds like InGroove handled it better than others. I'm wondering if its always been like this or if the renewed interest in vinyl has led to it becoming something that it was never intended to be.
I wanted Tinted Windows and Ramones those were the only two I didn't get but got mostly everything else at Record City in SD. Got Elton, AWB, Carol Douglas, America, Chris Issak. Westbound Funk, Kim Wilde and Dead or Alive.
Man how did I overlook that Ramones had a record out? Those are all good finds my friend. I had to narrow it down to 4 or I would've gone broke lol. Dead or Alive..another great one. I love to see what everyone got cause I can check out groups I may not have heard of.
I got the Guaraldi release but they only got one in and I had to get there at 1am to be first in line. I’m a Guaraldi nut myself (I have 43 variants of A Charlie Brown Christmas).
I'm jealous. I was really bummed I couldn't get that one. Zia's record store here in AZ says it's on order but I don't know for sure if they are printing any more. Awesome on the 43 variants on Charlie Brown Christmas. I love Vince G too. Such great Music.
Todd Tempe is my Zia's but I went to Chandler Zia's this was the first RSD I did & was amazed at the line at 6AM about 300+ feet long, I almost went home but at 7AM they let us in & I was in line to check out 13mins later , I went for the “Sweethearts of the Rodeo” live LP they had 2 copies, the others were Yes Live '71, Yardbird B-sides, Talking Heads Live '77 went back & got the BBC Faces LP the next day, from what I see on YT the Zia prices where great, $34.95 for the Talking Heads other stores charged $50 & $55+!!!

Yeah it was a madhouse! I love the Tempe location but this was a bit too much for me lol. Ooh I bet That BBC Faces, Talking head live and yardbird B-sides are awesome! I'm not that familiar with Sweethearts of the Rodeo but I will check them out.

So people only buy records on one day a year and make a big deal out of it? I STILL can't figure it out.
It's more a RSD has release only specific for that day and only so many are printed so the chances of getting it later on is slim. Hope that made sense. I do find it somewhat irritating.
