#Elvira #HomeFree #Reaction #TheOakRidgeBoys
Love that you just listen.
This is one of my favorites of theirs, the bass from Oakridge Boys (Richard Sterban) actually did session vocals for Elvis!
Great reaction...Tim not only shakes the floor...when you see them live his bass shakes your chairs and he is known for blowing out a speaker! I saw the ORB in 2019 and they are still as great as they ever were! That shirt they all signed....Austin has it framed and hanging in his house!
Right? When I saw them in Prescott also in 2019 (first show of the Dive Bar Saints tour!), Tim made my hair tickle and my chest ache with resonant vibrations... but to my surprise, more than a few times, so did Adam Rupp!
Not to mention, during those notes, I couldn't see a thing, between my eyeballs and my glasses vibrating so hard, lol
I love how Joe Bonsall seemed so proud of Austin, especially on 🎶 we're gonna fiiiiiiind that Preacher man🎶. Joe put his hand above Austin, like he was either saying, "the winner." or like he was saying "this kid is incredible!" I've listened to this version of Elvira more times than I can count. I've also caught myself doing some of the hand motions with them. Lol
Please react to more Home Free! I have a couple ideas if you do.
He definitely looks like a proud dad haha 😄
I love your comments on this. There certainly is a chemistry between Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys. I loved what you said about the "passing of the torch". I whole heartedly agree!
I love how Richard Sturban was like "watch this young man" with the bass, then Tim is like..."Oh yeah...hold my beer," and bottoms out the subwoofers.
You should check out Adam Rupp's drum solo.
This was the Oak Ridge Boys biggest hit from the 1980's....it was a crossover hit that gained great acclaim for the boys......and Home Free was opening act for TORB a number of years ago, so they know each other very well. Love your analysis at the end, thank you
Ah nice! Yeah both these groups go together super well!
It's always fun to watch someone enjoy Home Free, as much as I do. Keep the Home Free reactions coming, we Home Fries can never get enough.
Intro to the Oak Ridge Boys: Joe Bonsail (mustache) is the lead, Duane Allen (blond) is the tenor, William Lee Golden (beard) is the baritone, the legendary Richard Sterban is the bass.
Actually, Joe's the tenor, Duane Allen is the lead, and yes William Lee Golden (The mountain man with the bread) is the Baritone and of course Richard Sterban is who I like to call the King Bass. I loved the Oaks since 1989 and I about five when I liked their music and I loved them ever since. Home Free is now my new favorite and can't wait see where they go from here.
It's normally on this song, Joe usually sings the lead when the boys do this song.
Awesome review! Very observant - there is a mutual admiration society comprised of the Oakridge Boys and HF and especially between Austin Brown and Joe Bonsall. HF was also highly admired by the late Country legend Kenny Rogers. See their collaboration Children Go Where I Send Thee.
Thanks 😊 Nice bit of info there too
Awesome reaction ❣
Whoa! I didn't actually notice until your second time through (and probably my 35th) that not only does Adam have a _gorgeous_ brush kit sound, at 6:01 or so he even has rim clicks snuck in there! Such an amazing beatboxer...
Most beatboxers work their whole careers to get _one_ good snare sound. He has like, five. For like, brushed, rim click, piccolo, full snare, and techno snare. (Pff snare, tongue click, the crispest spit snare in the universe, kh snare, and pft snare, respectively, I believe)
this song was in last year's concert playlist and it was absolutely amazing
They sound Amazing together
Great reaction! Much respect to both groups. Its so cool to see the ORBs "passing the torch", very classy!
What I love most about this collaboration is that Tim Foust gave a radio interview over a decade ago saying that this would be his dream to have a chance to sing with the Oaks someday. You could see on his face that this is his dream realized!
If ;you haven't already, Check out...Hillbilly Bone....Man of Constant Sorrow....Ring of Fire (the version from the Sing Off season 4 knocks your socks off) ...What we Ain't Got...and last but certainly not least...End of the Road. Thank you for your reaction.
I've heard a few of those but the ones I haven't ill add to my playlist, thanks! Glad you liked the video 😊
Mayday is really good!
This such a great collaboration! Love this song, love Home Free and the Oak Rudge Boys. You should check out the other collaboration of Little Star of Bethlehem. They did that in 2020 was the did an online concert called Warmest Winter. It was during quarantine when they could not go out on the road. It also stars Jeffrey East. Love your reaction!
Great reaction! Homefree is the best!
Joe Bonsall is the tenor for the Oaks. He's a big fan of Austin's & vice versa. If you remember from "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem", Joe was really enjoying Austin's solo. As you probably know. "Beautiful Star" was from the Chrismas show they did. There was a bit in the show where you see Tim talking to Joe & to Duane Allen (the other Oak who did a solo in this one) One of the things they talked about was how the Oaks had sort of been mentors to HF & how appreciative HF was of that. I've been a fan of the Oak Ridge Boys for years so I love it when they collaborate with HF. Enjoyed your video!
Thank you so much for doing Home Free!!
I’ve probably watched this 30+ times and never get tired of it. What a great blend with all of them together.
The ORB contacted HF to do this...
You should definitely join/start an acapella group - that was some nice bass/baritone there -- I've been in 3 - it's so much fun
Thanks very much, might have to wait till the lockdowns lifted but yeah, I'd love to give it a try 😀
I agree! Great taster - you nailed it. 👍🏼
Sir, could you react next to a Home Free cover that is just awsome - Life is a Highway, a cover of the Rascal Flatts song.
I'll add it to my list ;)
Tom *ahem* Cochran 😎
@@TheCaveman46 I always think that too since Tom Cochrane wrote it and had a hit with it long before Rascal Flatts and the movie Cars came along!
New sub. Love your reactions have been binge watching them tonight. You have a pretty good baritone,/ bass yourself😊❤️
Thank you so much 😊 I'm so glad you like my content
Greetings from a danish fry , you should check out any song from Dive bar saints or some of their quarentine songs
I agree...anything from DBS would be amazing! I play the CD over and over! It would be hard to pick a favorite!
Great reaction! Love that you reacted to this one! Elvira is such a fun song to listen to... I heard it live last year (only by Home Free) and Tim shook the room with his low notes! It was awesome!!!
Hope you'll react to 'can't stop the feeling' too! Or their Butts remix... it's so much fun and a great listen! Or if you want low notes maybe 'everybody walking this land' or 'flowers on the wall' (songs they made in quarentine)
Thanks, glad you liked it! I can't wait to see them live!
If you watch the LIVE version To M hits super low notes you should also listen to mayday just to see their true talent
The Oaks have actually said Home Free is the only group who can do their songs as well as they do
I always believe in being present to enjoy the experience first and foremost
Love this. The level of respect they have for each other is so wonderful. Adam kicked butt on this. wow. Home Free and the Oakridge Boys are really huge fans of each other.
Brad Steele gave you a shout out so here I am and happy to subscribe. I'd love to see you react to Adam Rupp's beat boxing drum solo. Lots of new stuff with great audio quality. Looking forward to seeing more.💕
Thanks for the sub! I'll be sure to go over and say hi back 😊 I've actually got Adams solo on my list, so I'll get that done very soon!
Great commentary. Always come for Home Free.
Liked the non fmality, chrmistry, and minded me of being priveledged through sitting and listening to old blues anfd country atrtist just sitting and jamming. At. A loal dive or waering hole after groups or individuals finished nights gigsOld friend used to be blues and jazz played with best but quit cuz drugs wereb killing him
Anytime one of old grpups played locally we went.
zUpon recogmitoon he playrf damn near any instrument from juice harp to all drums , they wpuld call him to stage introduce and metimes let him play
But it was later after bar closed , the rpopm purple hazy, drinks flowing
That music went crazy
it was the music that talked and I heard riffs and licks that were nevrr put to wax as one started jam amd others floated in and out
get same vibes freling between., IMHO was there betweem old greats wand this generations up anf coming greats
Not a competition just music doulong the talking.
You obviously took to this rendition - a lot of camaraderie here! - glad you went back into it a second time.
Please do a reaction to Home Free's End of the Road Boyz to Men cover
Your own acapella group would be so much fun.
Liked your reaction. Home Free is so good and this collaboration is good. I think Tim was holding off those really low notes to let Richard shine. Man of Constant Sorrow, Folsom Prison Blues, In the Blood, I Can’t Outrun You, Blue Ain’t Your Color, What we Ain’t Got, Yours, Helplessly Hoping. Can’t go wrong with HF.
The Oaks & Home Free are great friends ! They get along terrifically & harmonize so well !!! It’s great to see young & old together !!!
RIP Joe Bonsall, a tenor in the country music group The Oak Ridge Boys, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the age of 76
Rest In Peace! ❤️
Hi! Brad sent me. Actually I subscribed before Brad sent me. Great reaction.
Thank you so much 😊
I love your reaction alot. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free.
Absolutely loved your reaction. Try Flowers on the Wall by Home Free. It's a cover of The Statler Brothers'. Harold Reid was the bass in that quartet. He passed last year.
Do Home Free's version of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues...
I've already listened to that many, many times (not a rection). It's an amazing cover and I love Chance's parts as well as Tim's low section haha 😄
@@OwenAlec so do I. I love a good base
Love these guys 💖
Wait for it......
Just subscribed. Home Fries!!! Coined by Ben Folds when they were on the Sing Off.
Thank you very much 😊
love these guys Man of Constant Sorrow is my fav........
Great job adam
Love from a Home Fry!!❤
Checkout Home Free's cover Man of Constant Sorrow.
Another that I've listened to many times, such a brilliant cover!
Nice!! Your reactions ROCK!
Thanks very much 😀
Huge fan of Home Free!!! Great reaction! Check out the album Dive Bar Saints...most are HF originals. I was told by Brad Steele to check your channel out.
Love your reactions... i had already seen your reaction, but Brad Steele reactor suggested that I come and say Hi.. HI!!! Thanks so much for doing HF!!
HI 👋😊 Thanks for the support
Happy new subscriber here! Brad Steele gave you a shout-out and I'm so glad he did! Thanks for a great reaction, keep them coming!
Thank you for the support, so glad you like my channel
If you want something a little different to react to... You could try reacting to one of Slim Dusty's songs...
The only problem is when he died, he was working on his 106 album, so it's very difficult to suggest any one song...
His 3 biggest sellers were *Pub with no beer,* *Duncan,* & *Lights on the hill* but I think the title track from his 💯 album *"Looking forward, looking back"* is one of his best.
One of my favorite collaborations was Kenny Rodgers/Home Free Children Go Where I Send Thee. Kenny Rodgers was a Home Fry!
Also add in Richard Sterban once toured with Elvis Presley as backup Bass with J D Sumner one of the best Bass singers ever
I liked that you got so lost in the performance, that you forgot to take notes. 😁
Some points of interest... I believe you mentioned listening to some VoicePlay in one of your other videos. Geoff Castellucci, their bass, arranged this for Home Free.
If you want to see some casual interaction with The Oaks and Home Free, this BTS video has a bit near the end: ua-cam.com/video/pX92vDQ6kG0/v-deo.html
I also thought it might be interesting to mention that since The Oak Ridge Boys typically perform with a backing band, Richard Sterban (their bass), is typically singing lyrics, while Tim (since Home Free is a cappella) is serving as the bass "instrument" (when not singing leads 😁) You made a comment about them trading off/blending in "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem," but they're really not, since Richard is singing the lyrics with the rest of The Oaks and Tim is holding down the bass line throughout.
That's OK. HF is meant for listening, not for writing on your pad. If you want to try this kind of stuff, see if there's a barbershop chorus near you. Unless its just before a competition, they will probably help you give it a try.
Have you reacted to Adam Rupp's "drum" solo?
Not yet but its been heavily requested, so ill be doing it soon 😉
@@OwenAlec i would love your take on it.
My take, you shall have 😊
So, I did a quick search of you vids, and I don’t think I saw a reaction to the Vic Firth vid of Danny Carey from Tool doing Pneuma!! Unreal stuff man. If you watch it, I dare you to keep his time signature. It’s like the metronome asks Danny for the time signature!! Haha
Unfortunately I have already seen that video, so it didn't feel right doing a reaction to it. But you're absolutely right, an insane performance... had to pick my jaw up off the floor! 🤣
Well, just do a disclaimer in the beginning that you’ve seen it, but your going to try to dissect it and figure it out!! Haha. It will boost your page bud. Tool and drummer fans are nuts! As I’m sure you know.
Yes they certainly are 😅 I'll have a think on it and possibly add it to the list 😊 Cheers
Idea:
You could say that you were challenged to try n figure the time signature out.
Headline could say “Drummer Challenged to figure out Danny Carey’s Pneuma”
BAM!! 100k views in a week!!
Haha. Think on it.
In the meantime, you could react to the bass battles featuring Tim Faust and Avi Kaplan. Good shit my man.
Hey there, I see that Dream Theater logo on your bicep... :DD
Yes, they're one of my all time favourite bands!
@@OwenAlec Sweeet! Me too! Though Jinjer has overtaken them for me of late.
And I found their recent single, "Alien" to be... kind of disappointing. First time a new DT thing has come out that I wasn't just floored in awe.
The group they're singing with now is The oak ridge boys sir
I would love to know what you thought about Adam the drummer for HF.
:)
This ios a terrific cover
I like the fact that Elvira was the name of a street. ;)
hmmm....you are a drummer yet you made no comment about the beat boxing of Adam Rupp....disappointing
I made a couple of small comments about it but you're absolutely right, my bad! I guess I just got lost in the rest of the performance haha Rupp's drum solo has been requested quite a lot so I WILL be doing that soon.
Hey, Brad Steele sent me!
Thank you so much for the support!
@@OwenAlec BTW, as soon as I saw your t-shirt, I know you were going to love that one part of the video. You know which one :-)
The Oaks were a top draw back in their day. You might want to react to them. Here is a link to a live performance of two songs from the height of their career. ua-cam.com/video/8SUdMygb9u4/v-deo.html
And one more featuring William Lee Golden (the bearded one) on lead vocal. ua-cam.com/video/O03A5FatTJE/v-deo.html
New sub.... Thought your reaction was spot on... Both groups are amazing
Thanks 😊
I suggest watching Adam Rupp drum solos he does. He does a live drum solo each concert.
Just posted 😉
Wow! Thank you for posting! I never even knew this happened! ❤
Got to hit that notification bell 🔔😉 Thanks for watching
Subharmonic? 4:30
Indeed it is, E1 I think 🤔😅
