It was something about a town of tiny humans who acted like normal people, the staff wanted to try and protect them and make sure they were taken care of well. But the guy in charge didn't want that to happen he wanted to do the bare minimum and almost let them starve and die out at times despite how much the staff argued against him. Still at that University rn but had to leave that place last year thanks to covid making it useless combined with a lack of work to pay for it. It was in the pedestrian zone in Passau (Germany) and seemed to be an absolutely perfect living space. You enter the old wooden door between the entrance of 2 shops, go up the stairs and are greeted with a nice roof terrace with entrances to each of the 3 rooms. Had the smallest one, but it was a floor up which made the view nicer as I could actually look into the streets in front of the house. The entire place had been (actually was still being at the time...) renovated freshly, but we started to notice that they had been... slacking... in some areas. Combined with the fact that my 2 other roommates were there more for the party life than anything else, constantly had guests over, and most importantly: rarely got rid off their bottles etc. First were the ants but that was absolutely our fault. The shared bathroom had a window that just had you stare into other housewalls. We had a chirping little newly-hatched bird fall from the roof (wasn't high but just not reachable from our place) onto the window sill. We left the window open for it, hoping the mother would pick him up. It was hot as hell during summer and that bird invited us to the trend of just letting the bathroom window open all the time as the airflow was nice. And then the ants started to crawl in from that window as there was a small patch of grass below the window from another house. In retrospect that garden on that roof was amazing but... it didn't help. We started closing it again, vacuum'd up all the ants and we all had to leave for a month or so for an exchange. Czech Republic for some projects with people who studied german (teaching) over there like us. Silverfish, an ant colony under the scale and in the shower, the smell from a dead bird from presumably the same nest on the tiny sliver of window sil OUTSIDE the window this time and all the flies that were onto it. Some cracks in the walls had given them full access to the entire bathroom. We're lucky the ants didnt crawl under the door to expand their territory TOGETHER WITH THE ONES FROM THE TERRACE which had a resurgance for some reason. The bathroom was so humid when we came back and it turns out that was due to a water pipe leak from our neighbor which they fixed, but didnt bother to clean up. That stuff sat on the ceiling of the bathroom (or leaked into it through the cracks from before) at 29° Celsius for about a month and made any stay in that room even more miserable. Oh and there was now a hornet nest forming outside my window so yeah. We told the landlord about it all and had to leave for a while, until the damages and bugs were all gone. But we never came back as lockdown began and none of us wanted to keep paying for a place we'd only return to like 3 times a semester for the few exams that were still not digital (Germany ftw...). It was honestly fine otherwise. Location, our respective rooms, the terrace blah blah blah. But the Bathroom was our own insect hell. Thanks for coming to my terrible Ted talk.
The fact that they named these things Genghis makes for a lovely meta joke doesn't it? "The locusts can't escape because they can't eat X!" "Oh yes Genghis Khan!"
I've gone down a rabbit hole of your SCP videos, this stuff is so intriguing man, thank god its not real. Otherwise oh boy, imagine trying to keep all of this stuff covered up. Keep up the amazing work!
Sometimes they can't 😅 I highly recommend actually looking at the wiki @scp-wiki.wikidot.com/ There is an entire story arc based on the idea that the Foundation finally fails to keep everything a secret and have to go public
Imagine being a normal-ass, completely non-anomalous locust flying over to another in the hopes of mating, only for it to completely ignore your existence and divide like a cell after eating a leaf.
Why didn't they just exterminate the mutated locust to the point of needing glass to contain? I know this is for a story, but the foundation knew they'd eventually be able to eat anything once they mutated to eating non organic stuff. And it's not like there was a shortage of locust to contain. A lot of these "what if" stories really underplays the foundation's future planning skills.
@@worldofdoom995 the article elaborated pretty unambiguously on this, the reasoning is that they should keep them for study while totally overestimating their ability to contain it.
@@OFS_Razgriz Not really. But the Foundation also has access to many beneficial SCPs that the O-5 use habitually and Site Directors also have access to a lot more then you'd think. You'd think one of those SCPs would allow for critical thinking skills such as, "Maybe don't let the locus mutate unchecked"
It works especially well with SCP videos if you ask me, I’m beginning to see them as something of a modern iteration of The Twilight Zone for the Internet era.

It’s like they said from the start, let’s treat this SCP with reckless abandon! Nothing will go wrong, not like the world ends all the time or anything.
I feel like there should be an SCP that is somehow already in containment which forces subtle evolution in normal animals. Maybe relate it to the locusts, saying that they found this SCP in a facility that was going to be used to test a new, but now neutralized/explained, SCP.

SCP-3698 attempted to escape during the event, but was terminated via a stray shot from several security officers who underwent mutation causing their bodies to grow additional fingers that were nonresponsive. SCP-3698s remains were then transported following the securement of the site and the containment breach disarmed. Due to the lack of noticeable effects coming from the corpse, SCP-3698 is now classified as SCP-6698-D, and is to be labeled as Decommissioned. Note: SCP-3698-Ds cell is now being used as a temporary holding cell for various low danger anomalies.

"The [locusts] in containment have continued to evolve. They now seem to eat practically any matter" Some researcher's proposal soon, probably: "How about we just flood 682's containment cell with the locusts"
The locusts now have an infinite food supply. They have filled 682's container. 682, distressed by the swarm, broke containment, releasing a hoard upon the facility, requiring a detonation of the onsite nuke to prevent an NK-class end of the world event. Attempts to recapture 682 are ongoing pending nuclear cleanup.
682 adapts to contain its consciousness in each cell, becoming a hive mind in order to infect the locusts. 682 now has the ability to self replicate and eat anything.
CCTV footage shows 682 appearing grumpy as the locusts burst out of its cell, having eaten him enough times to buckle the strength of his cell with their mass. Filtering out the deafening buzz of the room allows the mics to pick up what sounds like it complaining "they'll have all the fun."
Thank you for doing this for us... I do not know how much you make with this, but know that you make some freaks a lot more happier and self-confident in what they do.
Its hard keeping a balance of making the scp foundation a super secret organizarion capable of levels of communication and action we can only dream of and it also struggling to do anything . Personally i really like the bug apocalypse
I love how the apocalypse was kicked off by one guy picking the wrong vehicle to evacuate in. That nuke SHOULD have been the end of it, but no, one wrong decision and its all over
I listen to you videos every Monday. It helps me get though the week so thank you. Thank you for making my week, sometimes and giving me and many others a great chill place on the internet.
I don't like how easily the bugs broke containment. There are so many ways the SCP foundation can contain them. Force fields exist in the lore. Pocket dimensions too. All sorts of solutions.
Those on the wiki would just spam “there is no canon” over and over until you blindly agree, but I’d argue it’s more for the sake of the story, meta-wise. It is just a story, after all, and if the scp just “force fielded” anything, every article would just have a magic force field in the containment procedures.
They thought glass could contain them, and a glass containment chamber is probably cheaper than keeping a forcefield running all the time. By the time they realized glass no longer worked it was too late.
@@saucevc8353 In most scenarios they have multiple back up measures like flooding the chamber with acid. In this one they just had the glass, and then nothing but the nuke.
@@tokenfinnishguy8714 But nothing else would have been able to recontain them. If they can eat the glass, there's nothing they can't eat through, and all it takes is one to get out, so only a nuke would have worked.

I have an interesting idea for possibly short video. How about SCPs that were initially thought to be anomalous but after some shenanigans proved to be non anomalous natural phenomenon I feel like there are some of those on the wiki and they probably be pretty entertaining
Gooddamn, who was the idiot who allowed these so called "containment" measures? "Let us give the insects growing exponentially some free roaming outdoors time!"

Insect hell? They wrote an SCP about my old University dorm? The sheer horror...
Do tell....
Yes tell us more!

Why didn't they just exterminate the mutated locust to the point of needing glass to contain? I know this is for a story, but the foundation knew they'd eventually be able to eat anything once they mutated to eating non organic stuff.
Scp 3698(if this number is already taken don't care)aka force evolution
Special containment Procedures:
Scp 3698 is to be kept in a house size containment cell to keep scp 3698 anomalous ability
Description:Scp 3698 is a humanoid entity that is normally kind but is known to loose its temper in which will cause a site size lock down due to it abilities
3698 anomalous ability is to cause certain evolutions in any creature or object at 7 meters around 3698
One test was conducted to see how 3698's ability works.A D class(for now on called 6545)6545 was put in close proximity and after two hours Scp security personnel open the cell only to be attacked by 6545 who had grown a tree like arm granting him a shield against any conventional weaponry after 6545 escape 3898 it to be terminated but 3898 broke containment and is still out there

@@benurban8875 I like it, Buuuut I have to say it is something that would have gotten the Decommissioned status.
SCP-3698-D
Object class: Decommissioned (Formerly Euclid.)
Special Containment Procedures:
Former: Because of the Nature of SCP-3698, a specialized medium humanoid containment cell fitted with monitors, speaker systems, and microphones for communication, the cell itself is to be kept in the center of a 9mx9mx9m containment chamber. No personnel are to enter this chamber under any circumstances. Interaction with SCP-3698 is to be done via remote means such as drones, radios, microphone systems, and/or notes.
Current: SCP-3698-Ds remains are kept in a standard storage locker.
Description: SCP-3698 is a humanoid entity, resembling a young ------ male. While normally docile and compliant with personnel, SCP-3698 is known to enter fits of intense emotional distress at random, causing its effects to increase in radius and severity. Any organism within 7 meters of SCP-3698 will begin to undergo mutations in random areas of the body, with said mutations also varying in effect. Mutations caused by SCP-3698 have almost no exact function compared to similar anomalies [Footnote: such as SCP-016] or noticeable consistent mutations. [Footnote: such as SCP-407]
Addendum: 3698-T Mutation log
Effects during limited testing have resulted in the following:
*Ankles sprouting fungi
*Intense bleeding from open wounds
*The ability to perceive movement faster than should be possible [Footnote: Mutated subject D-1842 was epileptic and suffered severe seizures after exposure]
*The ability to consume inanimate material such as wood and metal.
*[DATA EXPUNGED] [Footnote: The fetus within D-6545 was found to not be affected by this mutation, although it was confirmed deceased]
Addendum: 3698-D Decommissioning
On the [REDACTED], D-6545 was exposed to SCP-3698 during an intense emotional state, resulting in a massive containment breach.

Awesome story. Love how it ends up with Solomom. Kinds crazy that one AI has more humility and respect for human life than most of the Foundation. Actually admitting they could have done better and let the world down, you dont often hear that from the Foundation, even if it's coming from an AI.
Ya clearly haven’t read a lot of world ending stories, in most of the ones that I read the foundation accepts that they could have done better and that they didn’t act like they should have.

But even if you never did it I will very much enjoy any vids you come out with, thank you for all the content you provide us each week ^^
"The [locusts] in containment have continued to evolve. They now seem to eat practically any matter"
Some researcher's proposal soon, probably: "How about we just flood 682's containment cell with the locusts"
Makes more sense than what actually happened in the story, namely "Meh, just let 'em out."
Woo hoo!! A new exploring series video! Love the content my man please keep it up!

@@saucevc8353 and inevitably one would have survived, mutated because Radiation, and he'll breaks loose
This is the first world ending threat I’ve watched that actually uses SCP2000
