(To be clear he'd probably beat any deck I've ever made but that's just because I play 60 card Dragon (with an unsupported blue eyes sub-focus) hard-summon jank. Love to see Star Blast. The only other place I've ever seen it is in Duel Links, where it was used to activate degenerate skills that required you to be low on life points.
Yes I'm a year late, Don't worry about it Cimo not summoning Treeborne off of One-for-one when it's so clearly in view, and so clearly 1 star, when he knows Watt doesn't out monsters is insane, especially when it absolutely made the difference
Cimo really made watching this unbearable. He could have saved himself 1000LP to reduce Za Warudo to level 6 and sac'd Lotus, which would have also prevented Lotus' burn damage every turn. Game 2, he opened with the perfect cards to set up his graveyard, and instead of going for Treeborn like he should have, he goes for Samsara Lotus, which ends up burning him yet again.
and then even after going for Lotus and taking 1000, he still had Lonefire in hand, which he could summon and have it tribute the Lotus for Dandylion, removing the lotus from the field and setting up to tribute Dandy and get tokens for tribute fodder, etc. The play could have been salvaged, but...
Cimooo versus a deck based on locking out attacks and chip and choosing to run a deck based solely around attacking and being burned by his own cards. Never change Cimo, never change.
This episode is another of many that showcases a huge issue with this series. We have two decks running such seperate win cons that they actually have no interaction with each other. Cards like Screech are played with the intent of being destroyed by battle, going against a deck that never attacks opponents monsters. Jank decks are designed with their format in mind, not another random deck that doesn’t interact with them whatsoever. We saw this with the Final Countdown episode.
I mean, part of the problem is this a weird matchup right? The world deck counts on your oppoent attacking into your stuff. Against a deck that isn't all about direct attacks, it does better. And we didn't get to see the value of the watt-lock. You kinda picked a match up that didn't show off these decks

Cimo could've Star Blasted 2 stars on The World instead of 4. Then he could've gotten rid of the self-burn while hoping for The World to get its Heads effect and have 2 other monsters on his field. Also, with One for One in Game 2, he could've Summoned Treeborn Frog instead. The tunnel seems to be full of Samsara Lotuses.
I have no idea why in game 1 you would pay 2000 when you can get away with 1000 and tribute away the lotus. ...Or in Game 2, i'm totally lost as to why you'd summon Lotus that burns you instead of just taking the easy Treeborn. Especially since you not only already had a Lotus for the grave, but ALSO a Lonefire to get another one. Sure, Screech was gonna get you Treeborn in the grave, but that's objectively a worse play since it leaves you with a Lotus on the field to burn yourself with. Plus, since your opponent was playing Watts, they were never going to attack your monsters in the first place. Man, when Cimo dismisses a deck as unplayable, he really doesn't even try huh
It does kinda suck for Cimo that Skreech is just a dead card. MBT wouldn't attack it face down and the strongest Watt monster he plays has 1400 Atk so Cimo couldn't even crash it.
The World Lock deck definitely would have benefited from a side deck. For instance, My Body is completely dead against Joseph's deck here. Reckless Greed might be a better replacement considering you're at risk of deck out, otherwise spot removal or flood gates would be better. Other than that, I think Alex just misplayed a little bit. For instance, the way he played Samsara was Gage-tier in terms of self-burn. All of Joseph's monster attack directly anyways, there's no reason to put up defenders.
