Well boy oh boy do i have good news for you while this movie exactly is not live action there are live action adaptations of other discworld books that are really good
Thankyou very much for this which, in my opinion, is one of those rare instances when the film/movie is better than the book! I don't say this lightly as I'm a huge fan of Pratchett's DiscWorld books but there are some very clever moments in the film that the book cannot give justice to. Especially the way each time the band plays it progresses through the stages of development that rock music followed. Starting with basic 50's rock through psychedelic to flower power, I thought this was a really nice touch. Also the puns of course, my favourite being a parody of Lennon's "We're more popular than Jesus" where Buddy says "We're more popular than cheeses" oh, so many good digs at those times.
Some of the acting is a bit off (Susan sounds rather whiny) but Graham Crowden is a good Ridcully and of course you cant beat Christopher Lee as Death - "Oh bugger!"
She's portrayed as a child. You may be comparing it to her adult self, but children tend to change personality a lot, becoming more refined, as they mature.

Books are great! I still read them over and over 😊
I love the ongoing "are you sure you're not elvish/(Elvis)"? joke 😂
C. Lee as Death: "Why are you walking around w/that duck on your head?" "What duck?" "Oh. Sorry." Wyrd Sisters (1997) AND Soul Music (1997) (dope Pratchett Discworld adaptations well-made for British TV). Magnetic, you're quite generous. Thank you!
An excellent animated version. Included all the right ingredients and was very enjoyable.
They amazingly got some great voices for this. Accurate to the book. Good stuff.
I remember the original series of "Disc World" & one or two other series on TV before TVNZ stopped it for some reason - it's late time slot didn't help, so I came hunting & found this, & more - cool 😎, a couple of days entertainment for the family.
Cool thing is the whole soundtrack including full band songs is on spotify
One of my most beloved childhood films, so glad to see it again
one of my more weirder accidental watches. was looking for actual music like for meditation or just good music. found a good movie instead. 9/10 good show
Grandfather says: 💀 This is brilliant! Animation, & voice work all awesomely quirky to match the story. (What do you mean I have boney knees?)
Thanks for this, when you realise how many hours of talent, probably thousands, went into this production, you remember when talent meant more than celebrity. A proper tribute to Terry Pratchett's writing. Excellent!
Talent has always meant celebrity. Hiw do you think John Wayne made so many movies?
@@Erika-ko4gbno it hasn’t don’t be daft. Plenty of very talented people who aren’t famous.
That was beautiful. Thank you so much! RIP Sir Terry.
So many pop culture references in this
ya dont say, never read a Discworld book then...
You've made a Yank very happy! Can't find Terry Prachett ANYTHING over here in the "land of the free" 😉 I only knew about the books because I watch (probably too much) pirated BBC. I love the animated versions! Thanks so much.
You're Welcome!
Best moment: Death tearing around a corner on a Death-Cycle, saying "Bollucks," and flying over the edge in a fiery explosion.
1:14:49 “Ye gads, man, i wish i was a clever bugger like you and knew every *damn* thing”
Wonderful!! Thank you. And thank you Terry.
💟🦌🦉🐱🦋
what? what are those emojis for
Love disc world. It's wonderful
I watched this as a kid loved it, I still do.
Would love to see this with modern day animation if not then with real actors!!
Well boy oh boy do i have good news for you while this movie exactly is not live action there are live action adaptations of other discworld books that are really good
@Hudson Allyn they are on youtube one is called hogfather and the other is going postal
How old do you think it is?
@@williamwallace3780 its atleast 20 years old because i watched this when i was roughly 7 or 8
@@FishAreFriendsNotFood Do you mean CGI, then?
"So you can fill her head with a lot of logic and other modern rubbish?"
I love this XD
Ludwig Wittgenstein said that you could write a book of philosophy based entirely on jokes.
Sir Terry proved his point.
They really nailed the different musical styles!
Discworld death character, is my favorite death character
RIP Christopher Lee
"We're more popular than cheeses" best quote ever!
got a bunch of recommendations on terry pratchett then started seeing clips and now im looking up the movies
Same
The same thing happened to me!
@@cadeautismproud5495 what do you thibk so far?
Pls read the books he is such a clever man :)
@@davidharkin8554 i have added to the list of books to read.
Might start with whem death finds work as somethimg else.
Love the fact buddy is Welsh and glod is a Liverpudlian
And cliff is definitely American
Some of the acting is a bit off (Susan sounds rather whiny) but Graham Crowden is a good Ridcully and of course you cant beat Christopher Lee as Death - "Oh bugger!"
She's portrayed as a child. You may be comparing it to her adult self, but children tend to change personality a lot, becoming more refined, as they mature.
Ade Edmondson as Quoth the Raven is brilliant
The Death of Rats is too cute!
Holy phuk thats so metal! That wooden horse buggy crashed so hard it exploded in flames. Not what i was expecting when i clicked a video called soul music.
Making RPG Maker levels with this in the background is hugely inspiring!
That was certainly .... something. I don’t know what it was, but it was something.
I just sent this to my mum... she's so happy. Thank you so much!!!
You're Welcome!
I grew up on Tiffany's books. I mentored a kid and when I left I gave her the first one
I love how the band evolves through all of rock history
One of the few authors that can take into you into there world, m
1:26:57 "I have forgotten how to get Drunk" That line killed me. I almost fell out of my seat laughing.
So awesome to see Foul Ole Ron the cartoon character! Buggerit millennium shrimp
*millenium hand shrimp!
@@shrubby-ov4yw I often get that line wrong 🤣
The rite of ashkente is brilliantly done.
Terry Pratchetts endings are so fun
"Yeah, that's a horse that ain't there, sure enough."
I won't say that's the best line ever, but it certainly got a laugh.
That intro music gets me so hyped!
This animation is so similar to the Halloween tree, reminds me of my childhood, love it
That reminds me, it's almost Pearl Arbor Day and I haven't put up my oyster tree yet...
