My husband and I have a pair of budgies and yesterday it was raining and they were singing away when my husband got a work conference call. His boss commented on how lovely the sound was hearing birds singing and rain pouring when my husband started to apologize for our bird's noise. His boss said "no leave them! They sound so wonderful!" lol
Hello, I have done a good amount of research, and have settled on the Hahn’s 🦜. I love everything about it! The curiosity, colors, size, personality, and talking ability! I also like how they are playful, but like to chill on your shoulder as well! I have only one concern, and that is the noise. They seem to be manageable to me, but is she squawky all the time? If not, done deal!!
She's pretty sqawky. However, I don't believe she would be if she'd had a different experience in her past. She was the only bird/animal with 2 people, but that's just not enough companionship. The owner got sick and the husband had a hard time taking care of his wife and trying to give Emerald attention. Impossible. If you can't give a parrot A LOT of time, the thing to do is to have more than one. They like being in a flock, makes a huge difference. My guess, your Hahn's would not be squawky all them time if you are home a lot and have other birds around the same size/ energy level. LMK if you get one!

Hi I live on Sanibel Island, as you know we were devastated by hurricane IAN. My beautiful Goffins cockatoo had a heart attack and expired because of it. I rescued Holly 11 years ago. It was estimated that she was already 7years old. I miss her terribly. Although I have two small dogs but it is not the same. Holly used to dive bomb the dogs. We bonded within 5 days and she assumed I belonged to her only. Anyway I have been watching your videos and I feel ready to adopt again. I am leaning toward a Hanns or a pious. Can you tell me the names of any adoption places in Florida. Sorry this was so long. Thank you.

That must have made the hurricane that much worse. I'm sorry for your loss- I have a friend who has Pionus parrots. He is not a rescue, although these are 1 year old and need a home. In WPB area. My cousins had budgies and they were muuuuuuch louder than this. Also, Emerald’s sounds aren’t shrill or jarring. The lower frequency makes it much less challenging, but man those budgies, wow, they had some high pitched flock call that was just not for me. I always know birds I can never have by playing their flock calls at full volume and you’d be surprised which species’ sounds do and do not bother you.
Ha ha!’ My lovebird makes the loudest high pitch sound in my ear, but my caique is also high pitch, and even louder. I think it his excitement that makes it worse. The other birds start calling out from jealousy. My African Grey doesn’t imitate the caique, but does the lovebird’s high pitch sound, at a greater volume. 😂 I also find the bite of a small bird to be amazingly painful, like a paper cut.😂
Hi I’m a university student,I want to start with a caique or a Hahn macaw. I prefer caiques cause they are energetic and playful but I’m away from home for at least 8-10 hours when I’m home I will give my parrot quality time and let my parrot out which one would you suggest?
I think it's wise to really research, watch videos on Hahn's macaws and make the best decision you can. It's a big investment and it's also the bird's life. If you have any questions about Hahn's macaws, let me know.
I’m looking for a more slow moving bird (similar demeanor to an african grey, cockatoo or larger macaw). I assumed Hahn’s macaws would have the same slow moving manner but in a smaller body. Looking at Emerald, I can clearly see this is not true. Are all Hahn’s macaws so hyper?? Lol
A lot depends on the individual parrot and shrill of the call. Green-cheeked Conures are less loud than Sun Conures. Out Hahn's is in-between. There are 50 species of conures, si a range of sounds. I would guess Hahn's would not be bad at all. I think I have a squawky exception.
@@ParrotBliss Well let me rephrase the question because I was actually going to ask this myself, Are there any species of parrots, cockatoos or passerines that can potentially be suitable companions for someone who is new to birds who has done some research but has never had any hands on experience outside of some handling and interaction with some? I've personally always wanted a Macaw and am confident that I could handle a large bird as I've handled them before but I would not get one if its likely a bad idea for a first bird

As long as someone is willing to put in the work and do the research and understand the responsibility, get what you want! Yes, experience plays a part in decision-making, but if you're *committed* and understand what it means to have a parrot, I'm sure whatever bird you pick will be right for you. The people who end up rehoming birds and getting in over their heads are generally the ones who just get them because they're pretty or trendy. They don't understand that they basically have a wild, feathered stallion in their homes 😂 (speaking as the owner/trainer of my own mustang horse. I'm just a glutton for 'difficult' pets lol). But it sounds like you're someone who understands the implications of a challenging companion animal. Not a mere 'pet'. (I myself grew up with cockatiels and budgies, but I've always deeply wanted a caique. After researching and scaring myself out of it 😅, I settled for a lovebird, whom I still love dearly and he's my cute little ball of fury and he's taught me so much about aggression and bird body language lol, but I still really want a caique some day the more I research about them and try to understand what I'd be getting myself into). Anyway, I hope you ended up getting your dream bird by now!
