    It's cheaper than getting a moving company. It cost me $95 to move 30 miles with a 15 foot long truck. This included two appliance dollys , moving blankets, and the insurance. A moving company would have costed me at least $400 to make the same move. For short moves, Uhaul is definitely worth it. Now if you are moving more than 200 miles, you might want to look into a moving company. The only thing that was bs about the uhaul in the video, was that cleaning fee. I have never had that apply to me, even when I moved during covid-19.

      Yeah I’m going to be renting the Van for the first time and a lot will be done by myself ...was the dolly a big help with the furniture? The good thing is I’m moving only a mile away so back and forth prob won’t exceed 20 miles

      Very late reply, but I work at a Uhaul and the cleaning fee is kind of BS. We almost never give one out unless the truck is excessively dirty/ messy. This instance is just on isolated event. Technically Uhaul's can give out a cleaning fee if we clean it at all after you use it, but we almost never put it on there unless the customer is being rude or just not nice.

      You have to sweep out of the back of the truck bed ALWAYS before you turn it in. They will get you for being lazy and making it the next persons problem, hope you learned your lesson!

    The cost of preparing the truck for the next rental should be solely the responsibility of the uhaul if the truck is returned clean.

    The sign says: $19.95 plus $0.99 a mile. The guy estimated 20 miles during use (you can pause it and read his contract). He also got the SafeMove $14.00 insurance coverage. Of COURSE it’s going to come out to $50-$60. HOWEVER, the cleaning charge was pure and utter bullshit. It definitely didn’t warrant the charge. But moral of the story UHAUL and their workers just need to do a good job at bringing attention to the mileage charges.

    I have moved several times, and never used any rental vehicles. I live in apartments, sell off anything big, then buy new/used stuff when I get to my destination. Anything that won't fit in my car, for any move, will not be coming with me.

  • @crayguy

    Say what you want but I work at Uhaul. The signs say 19.95 plus mileage fees. The contracts we hand out also has all of the information on them about fees and everything, and every customer signs the contract agreeing to this. Dont blame the workers or company if you cant read the not even 1 page contract, or ask questions, or follow the instructions texted to you about looking over the truck and everything before driving off with it. Basically the exact same terms and rules as any other truck rental company, and any detail you want or need we can give you, or literally look it up

      So you think accessing a customer a $25 "cleaning fee" is appropriate when you say the vehicle was "dusty" is warranted? That's just padding the bill.

    • @KennethGardner7
      @KennethGardner7 Рік тому +1

      I agree with what you say. On the other hand, I rented that exact van, and it's DANGEROUS. It's rear-wheel drive. Without a heavy load, it has no traction, even with good tires! Very bad design, Ford! It could cause a serious accident since it shouldn't be safe only when loaded. I got stick in the middle of the road on Wolf Creek Pass, one of Colorado's most dangerous roads, in a snowstorm because there was no traction, but little cars were zipping right by. An 18-wheeler got stuck behind me because he lost momentum because of me and then had to chain up. Luckily, there wasn't much traffic. I was SOL until a snowplow with sand happened to go by, and then I backed into its tracks to barely get traction. Then, at my destination, I got stuck simply in the exit to a hotel that had the tiniest bit of dirt and mud in the gutter. ANY car of other vehicle could have handled that. It was ridiculous. Then I had to avoid any areas with the slighest bit of ice and snow. This van NEEDS to be all-wheel drive. I'm surprised if Ford hasn't been sued. A van should work whether loaded or unloaded. U-Haul needs a better option.

    Ive never had a problem with Uhaul or any rental service. Read all the fine print, ask questions and take pictures.
    Don't waive the liability coverage unless:
    1: Your auto insurance covers rental damage.
    2: If your credit card company offers liability coverage as a perk.
    3. You can afford to pay all the damages/full price of the rental.

    It clearly says 19.95 plus mileage fees at every location. Its usually $ .59-$1.29 per mile. Then its up to the customer if they want the extra savemove insurance. Dont be mad youre an idiot and think you dont have to pay for gas😂. I work at a Uhaul (an actual center, not just a dealer) and I will admit dealers can be sketchy, and I wouldnt have charged the extra cleaning fee for some “dust in the cargo area”😂 but you cant be upset that the total price is not $19.95. It’s not hidden fees. Gas costs money

    Credit cards don't cover insurance for uhaul, so yeah you have to add insurance. $60 is still a fair price, that's the same you would pay renting from any other company like enterprise. But the cleaning fee on top of insurance is a ripoff.

    • @robert-joshuamcfaddin7041
      @robert-joshuamcfaddin7041 7 днів тому

      That cleaning fee was definitely isolated. Unless the truck was clearly dirty (I'm talking large chunks of garbage) I won't charge a cleaning fee. Even then, if it's excessively dirty but it ain't that busy, I'm not worrying too much about the cleaning fee either.

    • @crayguy

      Wrong, it is written in every contract that if we need to or do clean the truck at all after it is brought back we 'can' charge a cleaning fee which we almost never do unless excessivly dirty. And no the 20$ is also wrong. That first of all is criminal damage of property, and also we can change the cleaning fee. I work at a Uhaul and i can charge as much as I want with a reason, like when UPS rents our trucks and basically destroys them, that is about a 50 dollar cleaning fee along with damage charges.
