Great work. NOT TIMESTAMP THEM (ò◡óˇ)
but should they censor out Lavender town?
Melissa Correa Why would they censor out Lavender Town?
Idk if I should be happy or sad that I own all but 3 of these....
@ateb3 I read somewhere that it was confirmed to be false. Why would it have been true? Nintendo would've had their asses sued off if it was.
I'd buy a GBA classic in an instant if it was in the original form factor and had a good screen
Grey Goose you wrote gba as in game boy advance is that what you mean or was it a mistake and you were talking about the original game boy
lordgamer 122 I just love the original body of the Game Boy and it feels timeless
lordgamer 122 I mean the original Gameboy advance (not the sp). The horizontal form factor was so comfortable and the games were great
Grey Goose yeah the game boy advance was my favorite handheld the games for it were so good and the pokemon games on there were the best if they made a GBA classic edition I would instantly buy it I also agree that that original gameboy advance was better in the hands than the sp
If you want to put in the work/money a Freeplay cm3 is like $150 or so and a few hours of work to put a raspberry pi cm3 in a Gameboy advance body. It plays everything up to PlayStation games basically perfectly.
sad, its 2019 and we got neither :(
john g I think they are still working on it
@@therealboomshlamian700 its still not out ;-;
@@G_Fantastic At this point, I don't think they ever will. Which is a shame, because I'd seriously consider buying it, if it was not going to be unreasonably expensive.
@@frankgile1996 if gameboy classic edition came out, WITHOUT FREE GAMES, i will literally not buy them cuz its the same as the old one
@@G_Fantastic Yeah, I agree on that. I mean, the classic edition NES/SNES consoles came preloaded with games, so I'd expect a classic GameBoy to also come preloaded with some games... Even the Game and Watch came preloaded (only with 1 game + 2 minigames and the clock function, I guess), so... Maybe it'd be more similar to that, than to the Classic Edition consoles? I don't know.
It would be cool for each game to have more graphical options, such as:
-Black & white
-Green
-GB Color Mode
-Super GB Mode
I'm buying 3.
YOU WOULD
Scalp to your hearts content. Lmao
Wow, good to see you here Izzy
I hope they limit it one per person. 😐
I smell a scalper. It doesn't matter it's never going to happen anyways
TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan
The whole trilogy should be there. If they have to include only 1 it should be the first but if they go for the best it should be the 3rd.
chamoo232 Radical Rescue is so awesome!
I would also add Gargoyles Quest!
Came here to say exactly this!
"May-rio" *cringe*... If this does happen, it better hook up to a TV with hdmi, and/or have a screen that's at least New 2DS quality.
Crow Migration there fricking 8 bit games dingus not some 2ds shoved in a gameboy case so you dont need a new 2ds level screen
Lassi Kinnunen maybe oled but probs led or lcd
Crow Migration lol I just commented him saying mario weird
that would look amazing until the burn in - thats bearable on phones cause people keep em on average about 2 years
gotta be LCD if its colour or if not colour maybe something like e-paper
Tim Marshall Yeah if its just gonna be original gameboy games e paper might look good but itll probably have a lot of motion blur so and LCD would be good
Nintendo in 2020: Best we could do is Game & Watch
Back light, chargeable, save states, gameboy color form without the battery pack bulge, good games.....and under $100. Perfect!
Is available now...it's called the Odroid Go
Heaven Williams nah sp form factor is for the GBA classic this is a Gameboy classic, but even that the original gba design is better
I like how he says games that WILL be on there super optimistically
Metal Gear Solid on GameBoy Color is awesome. So glad I bought it years ago. I've beat that game like three times....three times!!
Jesse McKowen fuck yea brother I forgot it existed im gunna be buying that its like 10-20$ on bay
It was amazing, pictures don't do it justice.
Add Mega Man V (the only 100% original Mega Man) Mole Mania and Kirbys Dream Land 2
How about they toss all these games into a Switch cartridge and sell it for $40?
Edit: spelling
that would be lame
@@flybid301 why
Who needs a game boy classic when Nintendo can just VC all the Gameboy games and I can play them on switch... Please...

Burgundy Burnouts
They'd rather increase the profits by selling you another console.
Burgundy Burnouts no
Idiotic Tirades cost of manufacturing and shipping of individual consoles vs having like 100 digital download games for $5-15
People wouldn't want to fork out for a Switch and then buy the games too. Makes sense to do a cheaper console with them all on.
I need Mario tennis I use to be addicted to the game as a kid on my game boy color
one peso98 Mario tennis!!!!!!!! Love that game
Thank goodness someone agrees haha
nah not Mario fan but it good to here its your favorite game
Ifkr
*THATS A GBC GAME NOT A GB GAME*
I just want VC on the switch. I'd drop quite a bit of cash on that.
Links Awakening was not originally intended to be Link to the Past. It was an internal pet project that was promoted to official status when it turned out really damn good.
Metroid 2 never got a port except for a fangame and a 3ds remake? HELLO! Its on the virtual console...
And remakes hardly count as ports
I'd love to see them include functionality for wireless connection for pokemon trading.
Hi I love you and I don't want to come off attacking or belittling you because I do love this video and I think you're super swell, I just wanted to correct a mistake you made but while not being an A-Hole
hi
"Kirby was white before he was pink." is incorrect. That was a move on the North American side of things. He was meant to be pink but NoA didn't think American's would go for it so they recolored him white using old concept art and shipped that on the NA boxart. He was always meant to be pink.
I thought it was a disagreement between pink and yellow so they kept him white for the moment. I could be very wrong though.
@@Supertimegamingify According to a statement by Sakurai, that was not the case. He said that the USA release made him white on the cover with no communication to the actual dev team.
@@DaileyDoseOfJoseph Oh right, how very _out of character_ for Nintendo of America.
@@Supertimegamingify Lol - At least this was early history. They've gotten better.
@@DaileyDoseOfJoseph have they though?
You dont just "toss in" Donkey Kong 94. That game is a puzzle platforming MASTERPIECE
Kirby was actually pink in the Japanese release of Kirby's Dream Land. But since the game was black and white anyway, the localisation team changed him to white for western releases because they thought a Pink protagonist would sell worse. I guess they didn't expect Kirby to become a franchise.
Probably the same guys that make Kirby look angry on all the American covers.
Personally, I think the Gameboy Classic Edition should have these features:
-Have the same saving features as the NES Classic Edition
-Have a backlit screen while still having the games in black-&-white with green coloring that the console is known for
-Have the model be shaped after the Gameboy Pocket with all different kinds of colors (or get a special original model Gameboy version which costs more, but is a great collectors item)
-Have wireless connectivity to other Gameboys for multiplayer & digital TVs to play the games on it with added color like it's a Super Gameboy
-Have a rechargeable battery that can charge through a USB cable
and these would be the games:
1. Tetris
2. Dr. Mario
3. Super Mario Land
4. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
5. Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3
6. Pokemon Red/Blue (you will get one of these randomly)
7. Mario's Picross
8. Operation C
9. Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters
10. Final Fantasy Adventure
11. Megaman V
12. Wave Race
13. Alleyway
14. Balloon Kid
15. Donkey Kong 94'
16. Donkey Kong Land
17. Baseball
18. Golf
19. Tennis
20. Blades of Steel
21. International Superstar Soccer
22. F-1 Race
23. the Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
24. Metroid II: the Return of Samus
25. Kid Dracula
26. Gargoyle's Quest
27. Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
28. Final Fantasy Legend II
29. Kirby's Dream Land
30. Kirby's Dream Land 2
31. Pinball: Revenge of the Gator
32. Street Fighter II
33. Double Dragon II
34. Ninja Gaiden Shadow
35. Harvest Moon GB
36. Mole Mania
37. Gradius: Interstellar Assault
38. Pacman
39. Kirby's Pinball Land
40. Kirby's Block Ball
do you think that would be good?
They should also have Pokemon Green as a special game. Kinda like Star Fox 2
Shiny_Ditto Pokémon Green is pretty much what we got as Blue. If they did Green here they should use Japanese Blue as the base.
Would you have Nintendo tweak it so it would include certain new features, or just have the game translated and included in the console?
Turtles, can't have a legit retro system without the good old Turtles games. Gameboy had 3 TMNT games and they are always my go to when i emulate any system. If not for the gameplay then for the music.
And you could use a good color screen and use shaders to emulate that green Dot Matrix Display and then have multiple other shaders for when you get sick of the retro green, that would allow for all kinds of shenanigans AND you could throw GameBoy Color and Advance games on there as well.
Thinner and lighter is a no brainer, but i would not change the look, those things sell purely on nostalgia, can't screw around with it too much or you might just sell more emulated games for the 3DS.
ZeroB4NG so far, none of the classic consoles have had licensed games
I would love if some how the jrpg Harry Potter games could be on the Gameboy classic. They were a bit repetitive, but still really fun
One extra thing that could work really well: a "link cable" which is just micro-usb bundled in the box. People would go crazy trading pokémon.
I feel like if they did a Gameboy classic edition it would probably include Gameboy advance titles as well.
Think about it: the Gameboy advance was fully backward compatible with Gameboy classic and color games and it would broaden the library of potential games they could include.
Plus, the Advance SP is undoubtedly the most portable of all of the consoles (except maybe the micro) so you wouldn't have to carry around a clunky brick in your pocket just by design.
F1 race should be included. Gameboy classic should be wireless connectivity to xtra player(s).
Yea to the camera.
Gargoyle's Quest and R-Type are obvious ones to add to the list, but I would like to think that Nintendo will milk us out of our money by making four separate versions of this thing, one for each Pokemon installment and another one with Pokemon Green as Japan only release. That's what I would do in their place. Gotta buy 'em all.
Zelda Link's awakening was awesome. Maybe also the Zelda Oracle games. Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal.
A Gameboy Classic without PAPERBOY isn't worth it.... However Pokemon is worth it weight in HeartGold.
There is already a third party manufacturer, that is making a smaller gameboy with an aluminum construction and allows you to play original game carts. And it is set to release sometime 2018 or 2019.
I think it should be exactly like the DMG-102 mod, but in a smaller form factor and with better shoulder buttons and come with a multicart of original Game Boy games. It would still be compatible with GBC and GBA games, but the multicart would only have original games for nostalgia's sake.
Game Boy classic will be me hacking my Switch and adding Game Boy games.
Wario Land II was a GEM
IMO they should bundle not only the GB and GBC, but also the GBA. The downward compatibility angle of the GB line was a big selling point, so I could see them doing something like that. I liked the form factor of the GBA SP myself, but for maximum nostalgia they'd probably offer it in a form more similar to the original GB, with a few extras, like backlighting, controller port where the link cable would go normally, maybe an HDMI port hidden by the battery panel. No matter what they do though, it'd be really cool if the cart slot was functional so you could play whatever games they end up not including digital copies of. Maybe release the console with a bundle cart and leave the option of using your own carts for games they forgot/couldn't bundle?
Game Boy Advance AGS101 + gba everdrive x5 + goomba = The entire gb, gbc, gba & nes library on real hardware in your pocket.
Seriously I do love the old gameboy/gba hardware, the pocket seems so tiny in comparison to the others. And game boy micro is the coolest mobile console period.
Forget everdrive. Get an EZflash. It has support for GBA GBC GB and Nes and the newest version even has an interchangeable casing for it to fit in a DS Lite without sticking out.
chamoo232 Meh the fact that everdrive can run roms directly without requiring any patching, supporting every save type there is along with RTC, which very few carts even support. It might not seem like much, but 10-40sec rom load times on ez will get annoying fast. Even the largest gba rom loads instantaneously on everdrive. The sticking out factor is a small compromise for the wealth of features, especially regularly supported firmware updates. Granted it costs 2 to 3 times more than ez, so if you are on a budget that would be the only reason not to go everdrive.

There was load times on EZflash 4 but the newest one EZflash Omega has instant loading. It has save state , upgradable firmware and real time clock as well. The Everdrive has no advantage anymore and cost a lot more.
Battle Arena Toshinden for the game boy definitely needs to be in such a collection...it is definitely the BEST fighting game for the game boy.
i should be like a little switch
where you can dock the gameboy classic to play it on a big tv
Sanok Maynik thatd be cool actually if it was just an HDMI wire hidden in the battery slot. with internal battery as well
Super eevee except without switch games 😉
People overstate the form factor of the original Gameboy. I use mine a lot and I can just easily put it into my backpack, along with it being able to be kind of tucked into a pocket. The catridges are pretty easy to store too. Also, people say the screen is SO HARD TO SEE!!! It's really not. It works AMAZING outside and even in low light. The only problem is if the Gameboy is shaking or if you're in a car and those stupid lights next to the road make it go from light to dark over and over. It also doesn't work in the dark but really, when are you ever going to have the sudden urge to play Tetris in a dark closet? Also you could just buy one of those lightbulb attachments.
I agree with the smaller size... Also I wouldn't mind the "buttons on the sides" Advance/Vita-like layout
I say the Gameboy classic should look exactly like the Gameboy Pocket. But with a backlit color screen. That would be my dream Gameboy!
Wouldnt mind a Gameboy classic, though I have several and a box of games... I just cant play on that screen! D:
SepticFalcon get one with a modded screen
naylene hess have thought about that, want to get one for my gamegear too
SepticFalcon you can also buy them prefitted too! Also my gamegesr finally died on me when I moved to my fiances. No idea just doesn't do anything
Yes, it was great back then.. but now at my age, that screen size is not comfortable.
Lassi Kinnunen no leaky caps or anything but i need ti get caps first to do that and check that out
Do you really think people are gonna know such iconic characters such as Whispy Woods and Dr. Mario ONLY from Smash Bros? You are really underestimating the fan base.
I really want a GBA classic.
Donkey Kong was an amazing GameBoy game. You can still pick it up and play today and have a lot of fun with it; it's a platform-puzzle game (yes) where you have to mix in platforming with puzzle solving to get through various challenges; it's like a sequel to the classic arcade Donkey Kong game. It also had a sequel for the GBA called Mario vs Donkey Kong, these games are amazing. Donkey Kong would have to be included
1.) Balloon Kid 2.) Kid Dracula 3.) Mega Man V 4.) The King of Fighters '95 5.) Motocross Maniacs
I have a list of games-
1. Tetris
2. Mario land
3. Dr.Mario
4. Mega man Dr.Whiley’s revenge
5. Gargoyles quest
6. Mario land 2 and the six golden coins
7. Wario land
8. Metroid 2
9. Donkey kong
10. Link’s awakening
11. Pokemon red
12. Pokemon blue
I own Tetris on everything, even my phone. If I owned a device it was available for, I had a copy.
They should put a SD card slot on it for recording video + audio and a DC in connector like the gbp's for recharging + a USB port for buying new digital games to put on the system and use keys for the new games + Wi-Fi for a browser and system updates
As a bonus, I think they should also include the Pokemon Mini games that came out since there was never some kind of rerelease of that system
I think if GB Classic ever happens, it should be a slightly larger than GBA clamshell design with games from Game Boy, GB Color, and GBA.
To round it up to 25 games, I'd add Prince of Persia, Bomberman GB and Game & Watch Gallery 1. We could probably push for 30, though, so how about R-Type, Space Invaders They're Back, Revenge of the 'Gator, Mole Mania and Boulder Dash.
i'm gonna agree with your original assertion of combining the two consoles as the gbc was kinda just a hold over console until the gba was released after the failure of the virtual boy, as such the library in pretty small and i would much rather have to pay a little extra for the bigger library instead of having to pay more for two separate consoles.
Three years later still waiting for either....
I’m surprised you forgot
1.Bomberman GB2
2.Bomberman GB3
3.Castlevania Legends
4. Kirby’s pinball
5. Pokémon card game
6. Dragon Quest 1+2
7. Dragon Quest 3
8. Final Fantasy Legend 3/SaGa 3
9. Donkey Kong Land 1
10. Gargoyles quest
11. Kid Dracula
12. Mario Golf
13. Mario Tennis
14. Pokémon puzzle league
15. Pocket Bomberman
Thats so many games lol
Earlier this week I saw a SNES Classic at Walmart. It was the only one there. I didn’t have the money with me to get it. But today I have the money and I’m going today. Wish me luck that it’s still there!!!
7:02 and Dr. Mario's down-B is a different move. Normal Mario has the F.L.U.D.D
never seen an old WD video...kinda cool to see a different logo and backdrop.
My uncle would be into the switch if it had virtual console to play those *CLASSIC* games
Balloon Boy, Alleyway, Atomic Punk (Bomber Boy/Dynablaster), Game Boy Wars, Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, Tamagotchi, Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator
How about having a specified catalogue built into the console, but the GBC also comes bundled with a memory card made to look like an OG GB replica cartridge (with its own case, for nostalgia’s sake) that contains even more games that you can switch in and out of the GBC?
Definitely Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly
This is good stuff my dude 🙌
If Nintendo does make a Game Boy Classic, they should go with the dimensions of the Game Boy Pocket, which looks like it has a cartridge inserted; the cartridge would actually be a Reset button that functions like on the NES and SNES Classic minis.
I could see Nintendo releasing the Game Boy Classic Mono in Red, Blue/Green, and Yellow editions, each of which includes the Pokémon game of the same colour. Each console should also come with a link cable to link up and trade, just like in the old days.
If this is successful and Nintendo later releases the Game Boy Classic Colour, that one will come in Gold, Silver, and Crystal editions, each again with the matching Pokémon game.
The inevitable Game Boy Advance Classic would naturally come in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald editions. The Ruby version would come with Pokémon Ruby and FireRed, Sapphire gets Sapphire and LeafGreen, and the Emerald version would have Pokémon Emerald, and I guess Nintendo would do like they did with the SNES Mini and release a technically new game - in this case, make Pokémon LightningYellow as an advanced remake of Pokémon Yellow.
Why would the Emerald version cut the Gen 1 remake? I think it should just come in one version with every main series Pokemon game from that era. GB would have RBY, GBC would have GSC, and GBA would have RSE/FRLG. I think they should bundle GB and GBC together, maybe as a single unit. Or bundle that unit with a GBA Classic, bundle the 3 as separate units, or have them all be a single unit.
I can imagine the gameboy classic games resembling the look of the super gameboy graphics. It would be the easiest route to go down.
I have a modded GBA with a backlight and an SNES with a SuperGameBoy 2... and I’d still buy two of these!
6:57 - 7:07 Hi Wulff! You contradicted yourself. The simple fact that Dr. Mario has pills instead of fireballs is the very same reason why he is his own character. Based on how the game is programmed, any unique properties, large or small, means they have to be their own character. Add the fact that a doctor would be less athletic than an adventurer (which perfectly describes the differences in how they actually move) and then it becomes even more clear why they are separate.
What about Yoshi / Mario & Yoshi puzzle game. I thought it was pretty fun lol.
USB c or mirco b to charge itll fit in the pocket a link cable would be nice
Yeah, ever since NES classic came out I’ve been looking foreward to this
I think they should do with original games what emulators can, have a lit screen with a green Gameboy filter over it so we can play our games with a bit of authenticity, and color games can play how they're supposed to, but with a lit screen
Pocket bomberman, pac man, paperboy, Ghosts n Goblins. If you would include gameboy color games, oracle of ages and oracle of seasons. BTW still not out in 2020, nothing from Nintendo indicating a new classic console coming.
what he said, just add :TMNT fall of the foot clan, F1 Race, Mole Mania, and Kwirk for good measure.
Final Fantasy Legend 2 would be a great addition. It was probably the most popular of the 3.
The original Donkey Kong Land is actually a completely different game than Donkey Kong Country. It even has levels in an Urban setting (a city!), which was never seen at all in the main-line SNES DKC series.
For more Pokemon nostalgia, they just need to throw in the Pokemon Trading Card Game (though, that was a GBC game)...I think a translated sequel would be a great "bonus game" like Star Fox 2 was, but since the rom was never originally translated by Nintendo, I don't think that's in the realm of possibility.
I honestly believe Mega Man V should be the representation for the franchise on this hypothetical device. Mainly considering it was the most well developed title in that sub series along with being the only one with it's own original content with bosses and levels.
Tennis, Golf and F1 Race are solid Nintendo sports releases and would probably be on there, maybe Super RC Pro AM. I'd expect they'd want a schmup or two, possibly Nemesis since Gradius made the NES Classic or Solar Striker since it's a Nintendo release. Gargoyles Quest would probably be there. Maybe Kirby's Dreamland 2, Wario Blast, Kirby's Pinball for more varied Nintendo content. If they were get some licenced games then Duck Tales and the first Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle were popular. Would good to see some of the harder to come by stuff like Kid Dracula and Trip World. Also when the Gameboy was first released it was all about pick up and play puzzlers so perhaps a couple from Tetris Attack, Daedalian Opus, Yoshi's Cookie, Boxxle. Finally, Motocross Maniacs anyone?
A Pokemon game based on the color of game boy classic, Tetris, Metroid, super c, shantae, Kirby, dr Mario, metal gear, street fighter, mortal combat, warioland, game boy camera, super Mario games, bonus: game and watch games
Make it rechargeable with backlit color screen with green/color switch
And have wireless multiplayer
It should be made to allow fans to use their own carts on the gameboy classic, and possibly be rechargeable and backlit
Metal gear solid (ghost Babel) and Shantae are the only games I care about from either the gameboy or gameboy color.
Sad it's 2023 and still nothing 🙏🏽well we did get them on the NSO 🤘🏾
Pyramids of ra was a great puzzle game that I still play from time to time.
What the game boy classic needs is the option to change the screen theme if Nintendo gave it settings
So you could have colours or just ugly green colours instead like the original gameboy
Killer Instinct for posterity. Solar Striker is a good shmup that would round things out nicely. Also if we are talking Castlevania games for the GB, Legends is probably the best one imho. Kwirk or qix would be another fun puzzle game. Lastly, Mole Mania would be a cute title I'd like to see, but it probably isn't popular enough to get the hits.
I don't think it would be that hard to get an N64 classic. The SNES classic (with mods) can run most just fine.
FR7 Galaxy It's not the hardware that's the issue, it's the rights to the better games on the N64
ah, that makes sense.
Also, Nintendo would have to create a brand new emulator for the N64 (like they did previously with Canoe) and N64 emulation is known to be a bitch. The community is still trying, but we can't run everything perfectly. So yeah, I wouldn't call this "easy". Even though it would obviously be easier for Nintendo.
@Samoan_Stig , yeah but microsoft worked with nintendo for crossplay with minecraft and fortnite so i dont think itll be that big of a issue
Maybe they could make it so the Pokémon games would appear as one game, but when you select the game you can select between red, blue and yellow.
Since we can already play GB and GBC games via the 3DS eShop, I think the best thing Nintendo could do would make a new device that could emulate/play GBA games.
I miss GBA games like the Advance Wars series a lot, but there isn't that many solutions to actually play them unless you get an original GBA or GBA SP second hand.
Little did he know later that day such a pokemon came into existence.
Who framed Roger Rabbit would be total nostalgia, but they'll probebly add Yoshi's Cookie
And Crystal, Silver and Gold since colour is on the table, but I won't mind if they leave them out since I got them on 3DS. They should add a link feature, clear plastic housing and old school tripple A! ...Oh, and a port for the printer :D :D :D :D
The harry potter games on the gameboy were finial fantasy style turn based games that were really good.
The ideal game boy classic would dock to your tv set and use your snes or nes classic controller
SmL 2: 6 gold coins. Kirby's Dream Land. Lock N' Chase. Catrap. Alleyway. R-Type. F-1 Race. Boomer's Adventure in Asmik World.
To my understanding N64 games are kind of hard to perfectly emulate. But even if they could pull it off, the big issue would be getting Microsoft to allow Nintendo to use the games Rare made for the N64.
Nintendo probably would be able to find enough games to fill up the system on their own, but Rare's games like Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie and Conker will be really big draws for the system and ultimately would lead to more sales. I just hope Nintendo and Microsoft would be able to make a deal.
A GBA classic would get me excited if it included Four Swords and wireless multiplayer
You forgot kirbys tilt n tumble. Also I think you should be able to hook the game boy classic up to a tv and they should keep the link cable.
Don’t forget the original Pokémon games just got re released on 3DS with multiplayer support so the demand for those games won’t be as high
honestly all of those suggestions were really good ideas, but i think we should but gbc games on their since the gameboy and gameboy color are extremely similar in comparison to the gba which i think should get its own classic console, and their should be a wireless link cable function, some gbc games could be pkmn gold and silver, metal gear as mentioned and zelda oracle of ages and seasons (i wont name EVERY game)
