    Hello human fellow! Fellow human!
Here are some of my thoughts on season 5!
I was heavily inspired by @theglowinghay who spoke of Finnegrin when the book of Ocean first came out. His take on the writing for Season 5 really resonated with me at the time but it wasn’t until recently that everything clicked into place as to why it just didn’t hit for me.
Or at least one of the reasons.
This is me adding to that conversation, check out his video for more context if you haven’t already because we’re really saying similar things in a different font.
DROWNED OPPORTUNITY - WHY does Finnegrin NOT work

I’m off to listen to EPIC on repeat now but I’m sure the stars align for me to think about The Dragon Prince once again soon,
    Until then,
    Tenebras Post Lux!

I was honestly surprised how little of a role Domina Profundis played in her own title episode, especially compared to the other arch dragons like Rex Igneous and Sol Regeam.
Honestly, I kind of wish they had added some of the stuff from the short story Deep Below into the episode. Knowing her backstory would help her arrival feel more impactful, especially with the look Zubeia gives her. Not to mention, Pyrah’s line about how “wounds can fester, and don’t leave pretty scars” would be a perfect lead up into the next episode “Old Wounds”, which is literally about Viren opening his own wounds. And the line about festering scars also foreshadows Zubeia’s current predicament with her corruption scar.
Also, this is my Soren bias showing, but hearing him repeat Claudia’s line about the “dragon sized button” tugs at my heartstrings. The two of them have always shared a brain cell, and have very similar senses of humor (which I’m convinced they got from their mother, since Viren has never been the cheerful sort). It’s a subtle hint that their bond is still alive despite their estrangement. It gives me hope that Soren will eventually be the own who is ultimately able to save her.

Agreed! Even though Rex Igneus’ appearance was short, he actually stayed for his entire episode, I think Domina was only on screen for like 2 minutes. UGHH! It’s such a crime because the voice actor really sold me. She has a soft yet powerful voice and I wanted more.
About Pyrrah, ABSOLUTELY! That line was so ICONIC! I also would like a depiction of how the telepathy works. I’m tempted to say it wouldn’t translate as well from paper to screen but I’m pretty sure a simple voice over would do. But anyway! Now that you’re mentioning it, I actually didn’t immediately think of Viren when I read those lines. I mostly thought of Rayla saying ‘a wound that is healing’ but the festering part makes a lot more sense now! Although I think or hope Zubeia IS healing. The one with the festering wound we need to worry about is Claudia.
I’m also rooting for Soren to get to Claudia in some capacity since Lissa did want them to stick together and take care of each other. Although I am a little worried about the timing. I feel like we’re barely really starting to see her fully descend so I already have my reservations about a turn around that is gonna be underdeveloped. But I’m gonna trust the moon and the writing team on that.

@@AngelesLunamoth The line about festering wounds also applies to Claudia. In Lost Child, she thinks about how the space in her heart where he mother once resided remained, and “it was a dark place now, hard and hateful, it’s edges raw as a wound that had forgotten to heal”. It’s an interesting parallel to something Rayla said in Dear Callum. Where she mentioned how when her parents leaving for the dragon guard, she felt like they took part of her heart with them. Only her wound instead became more of a soft, sweet ache, which she saw as a reminder of the people she loves.
I also think it might be too early for Claudia to start her redemption in season 6, but I could see the season ending with Soren ultimately saving her, and that allows them to work through things in season 7.

And I wish Netflix would give the crew more breathing room to do 12 or more episodes per season
That way, they don't have to cram all of it in or put important stuff in side stories a lot people are going to ignore

A while ago, I had this idea for Season 5 that would help include more Domina, Ocean dragons and Tidebound elves.
Instead of the great bookery of Lux Aurea being the one place with information on startouch elves, it is one of two locations with anything on startouch elves. The other one is at the library of the Tidebound elves’s primary home, the Tidebound Archipelago. It’s the place Callum and Rayla go to after he learns about this and both knew it is forbidden to go to Lux Aurea by Janai until a way to purify the sunforge is found.
Once the duo arrived at the tibebound archipelago, they found out about the star scraper, Nova blade, and the poem about the death of the immortal. Meanwhile, at the place, they learn about archmage Akiyu while we learn about the Tidebound elves, their culture, and ocean dragons and magical creatures. We also get some foreshadowing of the ocean arcanum while Callum gets into trouble with an aggressive ocean creature, only get help from some ocean dragons and elves.
In addition, there was a festival that was about to begin by the time Callum and Rayla arrive there, and the main event to Domina Profundis appearing before the residents with other Ocean dragons.
I also had this new idea of Season 5 having some references to Swan Lake (specifically Barbie of Swan Lake), and another idea from a while ago of Music being a central theme in Season 5.

that is MAGICA! ✨ It makes a lot of sense that they'd go to the tidebound elves for information considering the next best thing would be Evenere since they also have some forbidden literature on the star primal but it is hidden behind an ocean rune.
Also, now I'm tempted to rewatch Barbie of Swan Lake lol!

And that's why I looked forward to seeing Domina more in the Season 5 part of a TDP fanfiction that is a sequel to another I read.

    I agree with you 100%
So I'll give you my theory, I was just trying to make finnegrin death reasonable because it's not.
Finnegrin have the knowledge to do the spell to kill an arch dragon maybe the writers are setting to kill domina by him also he controls bodies with his magic he can get himself out of the creature.
Maybe season 5 is setting armies for aaravos by recruiting finnegrin and the blood huntress and with finnegrin dark magic that would make him darky enough for aaravos material

When Finnegrin was tossed overboard I could not believe he ACTUALLY died in the slightest! I also thought he could totally freeze the leviathan from the inside lol!
I love it! Finnegrin does give Aaravos' puppet material.

Another great video! I think you need more subscribers. For me personally, I actually liked Finnegrin (though he wasn't perfect, he didn't have enough screen time and presence). I also generally thought season 4 was good and season 5 was really good, if not great. That being said... Domina Profundis was criminally underutilized and at the very LEAST they should have had a flashback to Finnegrin and Domina Profundis. And what really sours the wound is that seeing two Archdragons on screen has an incredible gravitas to it. Seeing Rex Igneous and Zubeia face off really felt powerful and intense, like two forces of nature in a conflict far beyond our own. Not seeing the dichotomy between Domina and any other dragons or even her interaction with the world really detracted from that. That being said, I still thought season 5 was actually quite good.
Speaking of, I have a TDP video planned on my channel. Should I release it before Season 6, after Season 6, or maybe even season 7?

I appreciate it! I'm hoping time will be kind to me!
But it all depends! If you have all your thoughts ready you should 100% share it before season 6! I think we all want more Dragon Prince content to hype us up for its release.
If you haven't posted it because you feel like something about it is missing or incomplete, I totally get that! I think it's okay to watch season 6 and maybe it will help add or even inspire you to finally share those thoughts that have been brewing.
So yeah! I don't know if that was very helpful but I'm a moon mage so I'm tempted to simply say "Do it as soon as the moon whispers!" lol

@@AngelesLunamoth Time usually is kind. As a fellow UA-camr, it took me some time to build some following and my videos ended up blowing up. I'm sure yours will as well.
The primary thing is that many plotlines in the show rely on being followed up on in future seasons. Part of the themes of my video would be the importance of patience in waiting for these plots to be finished, which is why I think seasons 4 and 5 got a very undeserving reputation. It's about the journey, not the destination and everything will play out over time. This is a long spanning saga.
As an Ocean mage, I would say "The tides are true as the ocean is deep" lol.

They only have 9 episodes a season. They can only do so much
