    So here is one of the two videos I promised about 2 personal item bags that work for almost all airlines. I hope you find it informative!

    This is fun! I may be on some of those Europea and budget planes soon--and Perrie alluded
    to my fav semi-legal hack the airlines will NEVER ADMIT to, but usually do: if you have flexible, squishy bags, you’re far more likely to keep yours that that hard shell somebody else also wants space for. The crew will send a half-dozen hard shell luggage’s down to be gate checked, all while ignoring your soft bag, or maybe folding it tighter to make more space,
    . If space is truly limited (not talking overhead bins here) those soft malleable bags really save people, by being wadded in, in all kinds of ways. Hard shells go down below. Don’t ask, or make a thing out of it. But soft squishy bag stays with owner 90 %, while hard bag goes away.
    As for pockets in bags, I’m not a fan. 2-3 are useful, but more means more time digging through them trying to recall whats where, while grumbling from the ever- expanding line behind you gets meaner and louder! To organize in those bags, I use clear plastic bags of all sizes, to see fast and easy what’s inside. Some of those silicon bags with sealing tops are perfect for me.
    But I do need a personal bag like this (well covered on Carry-on big bags and pack packs, but not a. Bag of this size, pretty sure I’m getting one soon, thanks to Perrie and her great style and presentation!

      HI @bettyparker3317 You go girl! You get it! The squishy bags can be such a lifesaver. There are some of on YT who are even considering going to soft traditional open on one side bag, although I would argue to still use a clamshell bag, but think about going soft-sided to keep everything more organized. But the bottom line is this. It has to work for you. There are no rights or wrongs other than resisting the need to over-pack. Thank you so much for this great post!

    Love your content! I fly to NL in a week and a half 😊 I'm excited to try your front pocket pouch hack this trip. I only fly in to AMS and home from LHR, so I'm on domestic airline. The rest of my travel is on trains, so the underseat size restrictions aren't an issue me. I've whittled away at the liquids I carry (primarily solid toiletries now) so my baggie is smaller. I packed my checked bag over a week ago (mostly camping gear) to make sure the weight is good. I'm so looking forward to being in some cooler weather!
    Oh yeah, and new subscriber now 😊 I just love your simple, no-frills, straight to the point videos. We're just simple people that don't need fancy stuff.

    There is a Levi's backpack (Standard issue L backpack) that checks all the size requirement boxes - it fits a laptop (you can squeeze in a macbook pro), it has a water bottle pocket and the rectangular shape fits a lot. Pretty much no organization inside or outside, no luggage passthrough (you can sew on a strap easily) , but it is the secret weapon to beat those ridiculous size requirements!

      @PerriesPassport  5 місяців тому

      Hi @mapleleafbassinc That is a very nice bag, but it is too deep for international airlines. It's great for most of our national ones, so thanks for that tip!

It has a huge shoe compartment, which I use as a packing cube for my clothing and then there is plenty of room on the inside of the bag for another packing cube and all my other stuff, and it fits under the seat. If you want to see me pack the cheaper version of this bag, go to this video: ua-cam.com/video/lteRR9EJLL0/v-deo.html If you want to use this bag for just all your odds and sods you can do that too. Most majority of European, Asian, Australian and NZ airlines got with
    40x30x20cm (16”x12x8”)
    Budget airlines go with
    40x25x20cm
    What you opened up with right at the beginning is just way too small just one or two a.hole European and Chinese airlines (5” depth)

    • @PerriesPassport
      @PerriesPassport  20 днів тому

      Hi @RyanKry! There is no industry standard (yet) for personal items. For instance, yes, if I am taking a European budget airline, Ryanair only allows 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm, but Easu Jet is more generous with 45 x 36 x 20 cm. On the other hand, BA only allows 40cm x 30cm x 15cm, which translates into 15.75 inches x 11.81 inches x 5.91, which is what these bags are. I do have another video for bags that are compliant for the budget airlines here: ua-cam.com/video/kMgmR4SN23g/v-deo.html Thank you for your comment!!

      @@PerriesPassport Just checked it, good review. Thanks. I know cabin zero and cabin max are the only two backpack manufacturers I know who are specifically producing backpacks taking account of budget airlines, while all the big name brands like Aer, Tortuga, Peak Design etc. geniunly don't care at all when it comes to personal item size bags, most of their products do not fit into the sizer bins of the more generous North American airlines coming in 21-21inches in length. Such a shame really, I have a Tortuga 40L, Peak Desing 45L and a large Aer Travel backpack but when it comes to personal item bags the option is to go for a budget bag. I am yet to come across one that I can go for from a reputable name brand.
