    First I tried to swab the dry ink from the cartridge with Q-tip and rubbing alcohol, but that didn't solve my problem. Printer was still missing ink on lines of the document from top of the page to the bottom. After watching your video I boiled a bit of water, poured a little under 1cm of it into a coffee cup and left the cartridge in there for 4 minutes. Wiped it dry as you describe and put it back into the printer. On the first document the print was perfect! Thank-you.

    Made an improvement for me. I rarely use my printer but my black cartridge seems to create problems. I only soaked it for a couple of minutes but I think longer may even give better results.

      If it's a dried ink issue, the chance of fixing varies by how long it's been sitting unused as well as how much ink left inside the cartridge. From my experience If it's been a year or more and still pretty much full it's worth trying but you will want to soak it and dab it dry and repeat that multiple times. I've had to do over 5 or 6 times before getting decent results and a final soaking one time I even boiled the water. Basically the ink dries from the bottom and works it's way up the longer it sits unused. So basically what your doing with each soak is getting a layer of ink wet again removing it when dabbing and then you repeat the process to soak that next dry layer of ink. So my opinion if you still can't fix it after 10 tries max is probably too far gone and better off just replacing that cartridge.

      The method works. Depending how often you use your printer, it may take very long time to soak in the water. I have some cartridge only needs sit on the water for 3 minutes. And one time I haven't used the printer for 4 months, it took 3 hours in the water to have the cartridge works again.
      So it could be 3 minutes or 3 hours.

      Hi. My cartridge dried out for couple of years with black ink and i left it in water for a week but no results. Should I boil the water?

    • @djprojugs6606
      @djprojugs6606 2 місяці тому +1

      @@FarooqF-g2x if it's been years I say no. You are better off just spending the money on some new ones or at least just buy the black if you don't need color right away. Your entire cartridge is completely dried up in which case the water even boiled will most likely only be able to soak the lil bit of ink at the surface of the cartridge which basically is immediately wiped away the second it contacts the dry paper when you go to print.
      The best example that comes to mind is think about when you see people dab the tip of the pen on their tongue to get it flowing again. That only works as long as only the ink around the tip is dried up. If the entire pen is dried out it won't matter how much they lick it the ink inside won't flow down since it's dry and so can't get wet if the ink isn't touching the lil wet ball.
      I feel like I didn't do too good of a job explaining that so I'm sorry if that didn't make much sense and possibly left you more confused on what you should do haha.

    • @FarooqF-g2x
      @FarooqF-g2x 2 місяці тому

      @@djprojugs6606 Hi many thanks for your message and this example, makes sense. In fact, they no longer sell that cartridge HP 60 so the whole printer goes useless. I got a color cartridge somehow. It was a great printer otherwise HP F2400. These days Eco tanks are becoming popular but those kind of cartridge based desk jet printers are still being used. Even some used dot matrix printers are also selling.

    • @djprojugs6606
      @djprojugs6606 2 місяці тому

      @@FarooqF-g2x glad to hear you were able to make sense of it lol. I haven't owned any ecotank printers myself so I don't have any personal experience with them. I used to work at bestbuy and I have at least had customers let me know they have been happy overall with them.
      I do know one thing for certain about them though that I want to make sure you know since it will help greatly with avoiding your current issue in the future haha. It's that if I had to guess you likely ran into this dried cartridge problem probably due to not needing to print things very often right?
      If that is true then definitely get an ecotank as your next printer or at least try them out cuz in the process of designing a printer to ditch cartridges to fight waste, they became one of the best solutions for the people who print so rarely they have to buy brand new cartridges every time they want to use their printer.

    • @FarooqF-g2x
      @FarooqF-g2x 2 місяці тому

      @@djprojugs6606 Bestbuy seems to be a great store, so I guess you are either in States or Canada. Here in Asia the market is dominated by HP mostly but Canon printers also hold some market share.
      You are totally right, the dried cartridge is because of not using the printer. I rarely need to use printer so I guess you are advised of Eco tank printer is great. I shall consider that in the future thank you. These jet printers are great however they do not print on Matt paper well. for that purpose laser printer is the way to go. Although I still prefer inkjet printer. they are not obsolete as Eco tanks have evolved.
      I also noticed some people try to inject the cartridges with ink and that solution also works. For those who rarely need to print, Eco Tanks are the way to go I guess.
      Coming back from the Windows 98 and Windows millennium era, I have beenbeen big fan of those operating systems. there was something cool about them which did not bore us. Things were such fun then using Modem to connect to Internet.

    I've used this method before on other printer cartridges and it worked. Unfortunately with my HP Deskjet that uses #65 cartridges, the black won't print and the color one prints very faint gray. I bought the printer new a few years ago and after printing a few test pages, never used it again until getting it out yesterday. Ink comes out after soaking and dabbing on paper but still won't print.
