This week's video is one I'm super excited about, one of the best songs of one of the coolest bands. For this one I used this amazing, original, groovy, sexy acoustic instrumental made by Project Ayano, which I thank for the permission! I'll link to their channel below so you can check out their awesome acoustic covers.
I also would like to point out that, besides the great music, I appreciate Ghost for their theatrical sense and the great sense of humor. They really give one the opportunity to take one of the more serious aspects of life, education, formation, cultural background, with a light heart, irony and a smile.
So, THANKS PROJECT AYANO for the magnificent instrumental!

It is her performance that sells it, the sound is some what reminiscent of classical Spanish music. There is no point is covering something the exact way the original band did it when you can give it a new sound while still capturing the original intent, some might even call it an art.
I have never seen somebody so happy to sing about Satan and I love it.

That look into the camera at 0:58 gets me everytime. It's so unexpected when you watch the video for the first time, and really draws the listener into the song IMO. Because it feels so personal. But no matter how many times you listen to it after, whether you watch the video or just listen to the audio, you can't stop being amazed at how good this cover really is! Not only the vocals, but also the instrumental. Just a superb cover all around. Hats off.

Very best cover of Square Hammer! She got everything from ghost and made her own with absolutely fabulous vocals that transcend the original song!

I can't understand why this cover got so many thumbs down. It's an incredible interpretation of a fantastic song. So what if it's a little different? The artist(s) put their own stamp and personality into it with precision-layered guitars and a stunning vocal performance. Thumbs up from me, and keep up the excellent work!
Thanks a lot Bundy! Indeed, this one has gotten really mixed opinions, and most negative comments mentioned the "faces" and the exaggeration. I have quite a clear opinion about the position Ghost have regarding the whole satanism thing, and it seems to clash with some people's opinions. But if they can't tell a band is just having fun when they see the frontman doing the moonwalk and pirhouettes in the official clip, it's useless to try and explain anything at all. Have an awesome day!
I can't understand either. I think you are overacting a bit to much for my taste on most of your videos, but thats no big deal, its charming at worst ;) But on this one you nailed it, singing is perfect, and your attitude captures the mood perfectly, seductive, classy and sassy. In fact it adds so much character and fun to your great interpretation that i find sometime myself listening to you more than Papa himself ! Dont listen to the naysayers.
My point of view, the thumbs down are because of the acting. That's what I think. It has nothing to do with satanism. The weird thing (in a good way) is that I listened to your version of sq.h. first, and after Ghost's version, and guess which one I liked most ? Congrats for the singing.
First of all, thanks a lot for the flattering opinion! Secondly, what I meant with the satanism & Ghost thing is that some people take it (or have taken it) quite seriously, "religiously" even for a while. So I assume some might see my interpretation (with all the acting, silliness and mannerisms) as offensive to Ghost's message and standing point. But i am really happy Ghost have been taking a really humorous and theatrical dimension lately, it might help people realize it's overall, just an act.
I've believed for some time that Ghost are merely an act and didn't buy into the 'Satanist' part of it. That aside, this is an incredible cover of a great song!

This just made me fall on love with the human race.
This is such a powerful presentation in multiple ways. The vocals are so sweet, delightful and artistically excellent. The presence and theatrical expressions of your face and color create an unexpected delivery here , that caught me totally off guard. It really did knock me out. Seductive and charming. The theme of the song about the "Devil" by this lovely looking artist, was also bewitching and fun with the acoustic arrangement came out beautifully.

My Lady Emeritus. You have a great voice. I always thought it would be great if Papa had a lady to sing with him instead of the backing vocals. I see, thing is this song is about Free Masonry. In Free Masonry the gavel (or hammer) is used to divest the heart and consciousness of all vices and excesses of life in order to ready ourselves (as if we were living stones) to be shaped into a spiritual being that is pleasing to our Creator. So, kinda the opposite of what you're talking about here...
The song is inspired by the Freemason Rob Morris's most popular poem "The Square and The Level."
Didn't mean to rustle any jimmies, I was just confused as to why the performance was so overly animated. Sounded great, just kinda weird to watch. I think the point of the song was more-or-less just to poke fun at another and different religious construction which is kind of what Ghost's bread and butter is. In this case Free Masonry.
