Tell ya what young fella, you've done a balltearer of a job on the van so far, give yourself a pat on the back. (or just crack a beer) Maybe a bit of work 'on the road' for caravan repair joints eh? You have your resume right there. 😂👍
It's such an ingenious idea to stay on the road. The van is perfect. It looks like you have so much more room. Plus, I believe it will be more liveable. You have alright to be proud of yourselves. I believe lately in the youtube world they are competing to have the most expensive vans with the biggest battery system. Which is not feasible for the normal Joe. Thank you for bringing everything back down to earth. We have stopped watching a lot of those youtubers as they are getting beyond the ridiculous. Which is sad as we did enjoy watching them until the fame has gone to their heads. Thanks for keeping grounded.
Thank you! If we had the money for it we wouldn’t hesitate getting a newer flasher van but we just aren’t in that position! We love this van and it’s made us realise that as nice as the latest and greatest is we can be just as happy in this! Thank you!
Great job mate my partner and I hope to catch up with you on our working holiday soon to start up U Tube titled OZ WORK ADVENTURES, by the way the composite LPG bottles are great less weight, we have have fitted some on our Spinifex off road caravan 👍
End result is a credit to you both. Good effort all round and shows old can be new again with the right attitude, handyman skills and thinking things through. Don’t beat yourselves up as we all have those “oops” episodes. Worse when you get older 😂😂😂. Onya mate.
We are a camper trailer family and have been for 25 plus years but your van renovation has been awesome to watch like all your vids before. Well done Guys. 🤙🏿
Those composite wood panels come up totally awsome with an epoxy resin coating. You can get heat proof, food grade epoxy resin that give a super tough, scatch resistant coating
Really enjoying the VLOG! We actually own the same washing machine in our Elross van, and it works wonderfully. I have a couple of tips to share with you. Firstly, make sure to fill it up to the maximum capacity as it helps reduce oscillation during the washing process, otherwise it moves around on the mounts a bit. Surprisingly, it can accommodate more than 2.5 kilograms of laundry. Secondly, when using the 48-minute normal cycle, it only consumes 7 liters of water, which is quite efficient. Lastly, I noticed that thicker items like sheets don't spin as effectively, but overall, it's still a fantastic machine.
The cupboard latches are standard on some retreats, the only issue to be mindful of is the push part does tend to wriggle loose on corrugated roads. Don’t try locatite , I did and they ended up breaking. My suggestion is have a few spares on board. Great job on the Reno really enjoying following your journey.
Looking proper flash now! Looked into those composite Gas Cylinders… $295 each so $590 for a pair, the standard steel type 8.5kg cylinders are around $80 each. To save 10kg has cost you $430… wild. They may come down in the future with extra competition, but man! That’s some difference.
Looking amazing! Don’t sika the hole, add an extra external light! Also, Bunnings have a great angle cable trunking I used in our van, it works really well for concealing external cabling. Caravans are a pain to run cables in. If you’re still stuck on it send me a message and I’ll show you what I’ve done in case it spurs any ideas.
If your new venetion blinds don't go the distance, Ikea sell honeycomb blinds that give 100% blockout and also have great insulation properties with the air pockets. They also do not require a cord, just push and pull them up and down and they stay where you put them.
What a huge effort. The van looks brilliant. I think the venetian blinds look classy and I'm keen to see how those new gas bottles go. Great job all round. 🙂
You guys should be very proud of your work! I agree with other comments on here, mobile caravan rejuvenation business while on the road. Can’t wait to see the finished product 👍
Hi guys , have enjoyed watching you do the renovations, great job, it looks fantastic. Alex you said Erin was normally right when it came to the colour system and she was. Your a good team congratulations.👍
Wow you've done a great job, its wicked to be able to do your'e own thing it makes it more homely and personal , thanks for showing the stuff up's we all have them but that's life nobody's perfect and who is going to come into your'e home and look for faults. Too bad if they do ! they shouldn't be there if thats the case.Good job 👍👍👍👍
Looks like a different van and bloody good too, a reflection of all the hard work you've done. Looking forward to seeing it finished and weighed, 10kilos on the gas bottles gotta cancel out that counter top. Great vid 👍
Well done Alex wish I had your skill. The van has come along in leaps and bounds. Looking forward to the last reno vlog. The gas cyclinders you have now are a great innovation which I looked into but found them to be over my budget. I too wanted a weight saving so I removed the 2 x 9kg and replaced with 2 x 4kg that gave me a saving of close to 15kg. Keep the vlogs coming and happy travels.
Looks terrific. What a great job the 2 of you have done. You should be proud. Can't wait to see you on the road. We leave for our big trip next month from Gosford.
If the travelling thing is not working out for ya, you could always start working in the caravan business 😉.. nice work you guys, van is looking smicko! 🤙🏼
Outstanding job mate, looks awesome. Im gonna miss these caravan reno videos, i reckon you could have dragged it out a bit for more content 😂. Love ya work 👍👍😊
Not taking into consideration the money you are possibly saving, I'm envious of the skills you have shown us in taking on many tasks that are beyond most of us. It will be interesting to see if anything rattles loose on the corrugations Oz has to offer.
Congratulations loving the look of your big bertha, you are so down to earth it's refreshing to see a good family working together, I have been binge watching your videos and subscribed, can't wait to see more from you guys.
Looking awesome. I love how all the colours come together and its great to see a video were the errors are pointed out as nothing ever goes smoothly when renovating. Cant wait until the next video and Bertha's new travels. Are you going to put in before and after shots?
Love the reno on the van, keep up the great work..however those gas bottles are a bit of an eyesore with that oversize blue handle, “feature gas bottles” wont take off haha
They are definitely not for everyone but personally I think they look much neater than the steel bottles! Especially when they start rusting and fading
This might seem like a silly question but more so, probably best directed to Compgas but why the heck did they simply not manufacture their gas bottles at the same dimensions as the regular 9kg steel bottles? This would clearly solve both the refill charge and the bracket install issues and allow an ‘apples with apples’ comparison especially from a marketing perspective. I’m sure they have their reasons but it’d be great to know why. The only potential con I can see is with these new bottles (possibly a non-issue) may be that refills are your only option as opposed to ‘swap-n-go’ but apart from that, caravanning weight savings is always something to aim for - it’s a great idea for sure
That is a great question! I don’t know the answer but I do know that they are imported from overseas so maybe something to do with different sizes where they are from?
What an awesome job you have both done on Bertha 🤩We have watched you from episode 1 and looking forward to watching your next adventure. Happy Travels 🥰

Thanks for the info!! The machine has been great so far and yes we found out filling it to the brim helps with the shaking!
Cheers!
What a transformation guys. Looking stunning. Cant wait to see her finished.
Thank you!!

So refreshing watching something that’s not an ‘infomercial’. Great job. Time to think about giving Bertha fancier name (:
Thanks!
Bertha has really stuck with us now so I don’t think we could change it! 😁

Great idea! Thanks!

Thank you! Stay tuned as we break her in fairly quickly!!
Fantastic work Mate. I like the cupboard handles. Where the blinds for the windows the correct size or did you have to
Trim them up?
Thank you! The blinds were the right width but we had to shorten them up which was easy enough
Looking awesome guys. Job well done
Cheers!
Put a solar powered sensor light on the outside where you drilled the hole. They are good value no wiring required
Great idea!
