Hmm a fair few UA-cam travellers flogging these now. Lighter ball weight isn’t always a positive especially when your van is set up and balanced with a specific weight. So these bottles cost more and hold less and refills will normally cost you the same as a 9kg bottle. I reckon I will stick with my rusty 5 year old steel ones for a while 🤣👍
Hey Brad, yes you cannot go past what works well for you!!! We have so many options with gas volume and Tow ball weight is one spotlighted issue at the moment, we had one client who reduced enough weight to add a 2.2Kw genset and stay under total legal weight, there are so many scenarios we hear about, for example overloading the rear to compensate front end load but that also can turn into the tail wagging the dog. For anyone considering weight the best approach in any circumstance “how does this benefit me?” And digging deep enough to calculate it, very critical point you make Brad, thank you!
Easy way to reduce weight especially if you get the bottles for free. Not that great weight loss yes lighter bottles but less gass is where the saving is
Great idea, I would love to see a charcoal grey instead of the blue to match in with most caravans 😀 I for one struggle to lift a full steel gas bottle.
Looked at buying them before our Big Lap of Australia but ditched the idea because it counts out any option to use 'Swap n Go'. Much harder to find gas suppliers around Australia that will fill them, especially in the remoter locations. We chose convenience over saving 14.2kg. Still, great video, they are great for anyone who travels local to their favourite spots. Thanks for calling them out as there's no doubt people out there that could benefit from them, especially those with limited Payload capacity (ATM - Tare = Payload).
They are awesome Derek , I am going to incorporate them in my new van , fantastic explanation and I like the new safety feature of the new hoses. Fantastic weight saving , just a suggestion you might want to protect the hoses from damage from the sun and other environmental conditions.👍👍👍 Stay safe and please stay safe- Derek you have some awesome fishing spots coming up.
Why when developing a revolutionary new product would you make it hold less gas and not fit cylinder brackets. And then of course the cost is just unrealistic for the benefit gained. I don’t get it.
That is what I worked out as well. There is 3.3 kg gas less in the composites. And why do they sell it as a 7.5 kg composite bottle when it weighs 5 kg empty and 12.5 kg full ? Some of the numbers do not make sense to me.
You have two, when one runs out, refill the emty, use the spare.. you should never 'run out'? Also, have Swap n Go jumped on board? Keep up the videos!
Too costly, plus you loose 1kg of gas per bottle, no swap and go etc. I looked into getting these when I saw them on yachts some years back. They didn’t stack up then nor do they now. Good sell but mate.
Well expressed Derek. I too did a weight saving on my van by removing 2 x 9kg and replacing them with 2 x 4kg as my ball weight was at 306kg. The saving accounted for 15kg. Unfortunately the Compgas bottles are not within my budget, maybe further down the track. Never the less they are a great innovation. Happy travels.
Thanks Derek for great post Do you know with the new gas fittings on these bottles does it make it legal to then run the gas through the baynot on you Van to a Webber baby q To me i can work out the difference if you take the bottle off your van and then connect the webber and that`s legal
I think as long as you caravan fitting is legal you can run your BBQ from the caravan but thatbis only the new vans thay have the legal fittings otherwise you need to remove your babyq
the rules regarding hooking things upto a gas bayonet have nothing to do with fittings, ounce you hook a bbq or anything else upto a bayonet it technically becomes part of the installation and must have a flame out device fitted, the same rules apply to a bayonet at your house etc. the flameout device is part of the appliance and cant be retrofitted as type a gas appliances are certified at manufacture, webers at this point do not have a flameout device.
I love the idea of these bottles, but for me being the "occasional" caravanner, I just cannot justify the cost. If I was to buy them, the first thing I would buy would be a decent security cable and lock. I reckon I could guarantee some low life thief will pinch them in a heartbeat. Cheers. Dave
8.8kg minus 5.0 is 3.8kg per empty vessel. That saves only 7.6kg . Your maths is atrocious. Where do you get 14 kg saving. Take away all the inconvenience of mo swap and go plus bottle holding straps don't fit. All this from someone who is towing at least 3.5 tons plus boat and ute canopy gear. I don't think this presentation has done you any favours for future recommendations.
Atrocious? I’m not sure about that. Like I said it’s 14kg when bottles are full compared next to each other. The composite per bottle weighed 12.5 kg full and steel full is 19.6 kg. So 19.6 - 12.5 is = 7.1 per bottle. So 7.1 X 2 = 14.2 kgs. Where is my maths atrocious? What’s wrong with our setup? My van does not weight 3.5 tons it actually weighs fully loaded at 3.3 tons. I don’t know what you going on about
Hi Geza, the math is based on full gas bottles not empty gas bottles. The steel ones are 19.6 full versus composite being 12.5 full each which is a saving of up to 7.1kg per bottle. Thay equals up to 14.2 kgs combined when full. That's why we did the weigh on the video both empty and full to give as much information as we could. The reason we need to try and save the weight is because we pull a big van and tinny. We wouldn't need to worry about it if we weren't. But thanks for your feedback, we take all feedback on board!
Thanks guys for YOUR opinion and experience so far with Compgas bottles . As like all new innovative products they are not for everyone . Some comments on here bring some valid points and others are just nit picking. If you feel the need to belittle someone for a product advert or endorsement then you need help. If you don't agree , fine no need to be nasty and hurtful. Look forward to the next episode guys ! Stay safe and Happy travels! 🤩😍

Thanks Brad. Yeah agree a ball weight that is too light is super problematic. We had that situation woth our first van.
Hey Brad, yes you cannot go past what works well for you!!!

I reckon they will be popular with those who have light fingers and you might be lucky to have the for 1 year before they go missing.
Yes true. May need to lock them down!
Great idea, I would love to see a charcoal grey instead of the blue to match in with most caravans 😀 I for one struggle to lift a full steel gas bottle.
Thanks Pearl! Ooooh yes charcoal grey would be superb and would match just about any van! Hope you Nev and fam are all well and keeping warm ❤

Thanksnso much Alphonse, great to hear from you and hope the lap travelled well!

Thanks so much! That is super exciting about the new van! Yeah we are looking forward to the fishing spots. Hopefully we start catching some dinner!
Man, make sure you keep all those GPS coordinates please, fishing is a massive priority in our lives
@@suelandolt6840- hi Sue I have sent you a message on your own channel 🤓👍👍
Thanks Pheonix. Thanks for the tip on the hoses. Appreciate the ongoing support 😁

If the metal bottle full =19.6 kg and empty =8.8kg there must be 10.8kg of gas in them Y/N ??

Sorry I should have proof read my comment guys. That should read “lose”. 😳.
Thanks Tony appreciate the feedback!
Ordered. Thanks for the vid and the discount code. 🤟
They are the best, we have had these now for just on 12 months. Should be standard on every van
Thanks Adam! Good to hear you are enjoying them.
They are really good. Glad you enjoying them. Safe travels 😁
Love it. I just got two bottles myself
They look great Derek 👍 👌

Thanks Greg, yes that is a great idea to swop them out for smaller bottle. Does the trick if you need to save on ball weight!
Thanks Greg. Safe travels 🤙🏻

Thanks Dave, yeah prob not worth the investment for occasional travel. Appreciate the feedback and hope you have a great week!
I hope you have a good lock on them 🫣
Yeah thinking about that! 😅
That’s what happens when you get married. Your ball weight goes through the roof for the rest of your days
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Be great if swap and go adopt these.
Yeah that would be epic!

Not much good if you can't find a filling station 😮
That's very true! We haven't struggled so far but makes sense.
@ $300 per bottle. i dont see it being worth it.
Thanks Baldie, it's not for everyone and appreciate it not worth it for you.
thec7kg bottles $329.00
These bottles are great!
They are coming out with a 3.5 kg one I will be going that way
Thats awesome. Yes a smaller size will be very useful!

$520 for 2 bottles
