- This is a basic DIY Dry Bilge system. It is basically a SEAFLO Diaphragm pump and a timer to draw a vacuum and pull the last bit of water out of the bilge.
I mounted the timer and pump in a box and put it down in the forward bilge. It discharges to the forward sump for the showers. Since the water flow is not much.
This was some of my first footage and not the best. Sorry

This is a nice alternative to purchasing an Arid Bilge or Dry Bilge. In the near future I will be working on one that will work with multiple zones and possibly detect the presence of water.
I just installed one of these in my boat as well. They work like a charm.
I’ve watched a lot of videos and online articles about making these systems and I think yours is the cleanest (enclosure box, exposed timer, etc). Plan to do my own soon based on your design!
Wondering if zip ties might be a nice backup to the sheet metal screws into the sponge?
Surprisingly the screws bite into the sponge quite well but I would consider it if the pickup was going in a hard to reach location and losing the sponge would be inconvenient
Nice video. I would like to build one for my sailboat. Can you give more information on the plastic box and insert holding the pump and timer? Size, where can it be purchased, other fittings, etc? Thank you!
Hi Ricardo, If you click on show more in the description there is the list of the components I purchased from Amazon. The fittings and hose I purchased from my local hardware store. The wood insert I just cut to fit the box. I hope this helps.
@@fixingblackjacklady8783 Thank you! Regarding the differential suction strength between one line and the other, a point of general information for folks entertaining doing this with more than one line, each line should be of the same length from sponge to T-connector to reduce risk of one stealing suction power from the other.
@@febrymd Learned that the hard way. My original design had 2 lines going back to 2 Tee connectors. Didn't work.
For $129 you can get a sea flow dry bilge system
