I'd still be cautious. I've had a Waggle for nearly a year now and despite getting sent several replacements by Waggle these units continue not reporting reliably in some areas (albeit probably low coverage areas). I've noticed that just because a unit reports the temperature and humidity a few times doesn't necessarily mean that it will continue to do so. At some point it may stop reporting and wants me to press the center button, but unfortunately I am already away and cannot press that center button. These units don't have a temperature probe nor an antenna so the unit does have to be in the space the pet is in not where they could optimally get a signal to their cellular network and no reflective barrier can be placed in the window where Waggle gets the best 4G-CatM1 cellular service from Verizon. Note that phone signal boosters won't help boost this signal because it is different from what phones use.
When it works, it is great, but not knowing exactly when it will lose connection with its cellular network and leave me in the dark about my pet's safety in what could quickly turn into an oven or ice box makes it lose much (all?) of its value for me.

I have to agree with a lot of what you say. There is no perfect system. The fact that there are any systems at all is amazing though. I don't really rely on it being perfect, but it does give us some leeway. We are never away from the van for too long if the dog is in there.
I am interested in your statement about optimal signal needing to have no reflective barrier in the window. Are you speaking of insulation you place in the window? That is an interesting point.
      Thanks for commenting!

Not really... I do a lot of planning and scripting. This was just on the burner and happened to come out today.
