I have an absolute honour of working under Prof. Anil Gupta at Indian Institute of Management, Ahemdabad. The guy is a genious. Totally commited to the cause of uplifting people. Can you imagine at such a age he works for 20 hours ina day. Everyday you can find him talking to fruit vendors, tea makers and all around the campus listening to there problem and suggesting solutions. Respect!

Mr Gupta's English accent gives him away of course as Indian heavily influenced by his mother tongue , but he has substance. My hearty congratulations!

I'm thrilled that someone has acknowledged the intelligence and innovation of those on the economic margins and developed a way to pool the knowledge and give them credit. This is one of the most enjoyable talks I've seen in the TEDosphere, second only to the one about children in rural India learning and teaching each other how to use a computer without preknowledge or external instruction.

Thank You for the wonderful presentation. I liked your statement about "Sustainable need not be Scalable." This approach will surely influence my field of work.

I wonder if you have ever contributed a single thing to technology?
So many people happily consume technology and think that's enough, but others aim to change it, to make it better. This guy is contributing to technology and his legacy will live on, will yours?

Thank you I enjoyed hearing about the people's triumphs. I hope together we can make you dream a reality. It takes time for people to change what they learnt incorrectly and brave people to help them see, we have all thought at some time we are so right before we realized the opposite given the right experiences.

We want to create a Space Exploration schooling system where the kids curiosity and imagination for scientific creativity creates invention & innovation for patents and copyrights through project based ,fun learning methodology for personalized education .
We will find a way to partner with all research development departments of all companies in the world. to sponsor or partner for school subjects Topic wise and share their business knowledge with kids.
Mobile phone have changed over the last 10 years but school education shows lesser value based change. The best practices for teaching a topic should be shared around the world with all teachers who want to bring innovation through schooling.
Kindly guide us in the process to start STEM schools in India

At 17:22 the subtitles are "in [unclear] operations," but I think the correct words should be "in municipal corporations."

The insensivity of wealthy people towards these villagers difficulties is no better illustrated than by a television programmed I saw a few years ago, where a few British whites were doing their best to stop the buliding of a dam that would have brought water to the villagers. One insensitive english female actually said they would no longer be able to see beautiful scenes such as womern with utensils on their head walking to collect water.

I feel really happy that these people without any access to eduction or other sourses are making such innovative stuffs, but I sometime think that if everyone will get enough money than who will do work like farming etc... which runs our economy.
plz if anyone can tell, I am confused.

Well maybe you still looking for an answer and I have an idea for it. The technology we need for autonomous machines is still existing and it is improved basically every day. If everybody is doing what he likes, than we need machines that make the work, that no one in an area wants to do.
In this way everybody can do what he wants to, even if a machine would be more efficient. But nobody would be forced to doing work, that he dont want to do

insensitivity of people to other people's difficulty well illustrasted by a few westerners who tried to stop buliding of narmada dam in India which would have brought water to villagers so they would not have to travel a mile everyday. One insensitive lady said that it would spoil the scenery, ie seeing women with utensils on theri head walking to collect water. This was years back

    great video!
in my experience the innovative ideas come from just simply being lazy - or try to be as lazy as possible - that i refuse to put me under strenuous, tedious, repetitive hard work.
id rather invent something does the work for me.
yet at the same time, my ego wont allow me to go and buy existing, expensive and corporate driven hardware that often makes me dependant for their product that is designed to fail after some time.
so id rather invent it myself.

I was thinking if the people whom wanted running water to come to their homes if every week or two they made a particular sized and shape clay pipe that could fit together with a male and female end- and everyone was aware of it and joined them up in a short time the water would not have to be carried- taps could also be made out of clay and a piece of rubber. The picture of the water carrying person looks interesting to do but would be a chore and time consuming when done repetitively.

The fault is not of the Narmada Dam project but that of corruption that permeates Indian society. I still stick to my opinion about the westerners motives for obstructing the building of the dam.. If you had seen the programme on television, you would have felt the same.We should have more sensitivity to our own people in India and also know that outsiders do not have any interest in development of India. They use intelligent ways of obstructing progress, disguised as doing good.

Heard about God Particle Higgs-Boson? Well Boson is named after Indian scientist S. Bose along side the famous Bose-Einstein Statistics. Even you spreading bullsh*t over Internet is due to Fiber Optics. Well Indian - American Scientist Narinder Singh Kapany is known as Father of Fiber Optics.
