    Welcome back to our Rotary Tattoo Machine series. In this week's episode, we sit down with our pal Ty Pallotta to discuss the V6 Sidewinder from Dan Kubin. You might remember a short review that I did on this machine the day that I unboxed it. That episode was pretty well received so I thought we should do a follow up now that I have a little more experience with the machine. Thanks to Ty Pallotta for taking the time to offer his expertise. You can keep up with Ty on Instagram at / typ.art

    Wow, this was insanely helpful. I feel like I learned more from watching your guy's video on the Dan Cuban SideWinder than I did from watching Dan Cuban's video of the Sidewinder.
    I am a newer artist, but I had a lot of older more experienced artists recommending this machine to me. However, I felt that with my lack of experience I was confused on how to to tune the machine to my specific needs. This broke it down a bit slower and made it an open conversation. THANKYOU

    I don’t use rubber grommets on mine. I use paper towels and get no spit. A soft rubber grommet with get beaten to death and you get a situation where your needle is flopping up and down…causing them to spit ink.
    And absolutely flip your larger needle groupings. A 14 should be flipped period

    Anyone work with his DMC machine? Thought about getting it because I use cartridges.

    • @aceadam1828
      @aceadam1828 5 років тому +1

      Used the swingliner for at least 6 month. Its like the predecessor of the dmc according to dan kubin. It ran pretty sweet with cartridges and the dmc is supposed to be more snappy and be an upgrade to the swingliner. If that turn out to be true the dmc will be a fantastic machine for cartridge lining. I switched to regular needles and sidewinder simply because i love some adjustability and like the feel of regular needles better. If you want to stick to cartridges get the dmc. Dan makes fantastic machines. I know many people who use them and not a single person whos dissapointed.

      Its a machine that does any lines fast with a longer throw and strong hit. Not a favorite for everyone because you really have to be quick or it will just fuck the skin real easy, specially with small needle groupings. Cheers.

    What is difference between Sisewinder 7b and Sindewinder v3r

    • @thomaspagel4434
      @thomaspagel4434 3 роки тому +1

      v3r is a bit like re-evoltion - its the old v3 version with some little new things (he told many clients "vote" these as their best or they favourite one.. so he resetup it. 7b is the "classical" DK evoluition upwards with a lots of new things. "The core" / the machine/ the physical hybrid-prinzip of bringing the needle into motion is in every V the same, "just" the devilish details around are upgraded and upgraded and upgraded. I far as i know.. :D The Sidewinder is a wonderfull tool! i have a V5 and it was a litte revolution for my workflow..

      @@7somekindofsomething ok..flip the clipcord (negative on top) and use a paper towel instead of a rubber grommet. I like to do 6 layers of Vivas, poke a hole in the middle so the eyelet seats well. I like to keep it set around 5.5-6 on the adjustment wheel, and am running about 4 to 4.3 volts.
      I find that the rubber grommets caused more problems than they are worth. A LOT of spitting was automatically negated when I switched to paper towels

    Jake, with all due respect - the good ordinary well build coil
    liner does the job faster and easier than any overpriced and over "engineered" sidewinder. Besides, switching back and fourth your clip cord will pretty quickly kill the brushes on that motor. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it though. Only rotary machine I accept is the simple well put together direct drive. everything else is one big BS ( besides Neuma4 ;) ... Rubber bands this way or that way, fine tuning here and there.. Really? Vs just understanding your coils and tuning it a bit ones in a while.. That difference cost you a grand of evergreen bucks..
