    We here have a lot of problems with the Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis).... and it doesn't matter whether you fish with plastic baits or with shrink tube boilies, it's no use, everything gets cracked and eaten, but it doesn't matter whether it's plastic or not, as soon as there's a bit of a smell it gets attacked, the only thing I've noticed is "more"feed"!.... a lot of food has to be distributed around the bait when the crabs come from outside so that 'everyone' has their bit of food and leave the bait alone longer!

    Just out of interest has there ever been a study into the effects of plastics entering a fishery? Surely in 2021 we should be looking to reduce the volume of plastics we add to a water. Is this the next thing that should change? Should fishery owners insist on no plastics. Would be good to get your thoughts.

    • @fishingtutorials
      @fishingtutorials  2 роки тому

      Hey dude, the plastics don’t stay in the water. We reel in after doing our fishing and take everything home 👌

    • @karl9675
      @karl9675 2 роки тому

      @@fishingtutorials Of that I have no doubt. Watching your videos its clear the environment is as important as the catch however its not possible to take ALL of you equipment home. Lost rigs will leave plastics in the water. This may only be a small amount but over a year with multiple anglers this could add up. What if fish are able to eat thes plastics especially the wrapper around the real boilie? Would this harm them? Is it responsible to still continue to use plastic for floats. The amount that I see tangled in trees is silly. Is it time to switch back to wooden floats? Should hook links be biodegradable? Could line be? It may have to be over 12months but this is better than the current situation. Should the use of barbed hooks be banned altogether? For a sport/hobby that is so reliant on the balance of nature its staggering that we are not more concerned about what we are leaving behind under the surface. Maybe its out of sight, out of mind. But isnt that the problem fish have when it come to conservation.

    Last night they literally took the rubber bead off my hook and took the hair complete with the shrink wrapped boilie off the hook 😡😡🤬 they also messed around with my stiff hinged pop up rig, removing the putty so I was fishing 14 inches off the deck!!
    I do have a paranoia that the Cray fish will still get hold of the wrapped bait in their claws, and hold onto it for ages as they try and get inside!
    For some reason they seem to be less interested in really nutty flavour boilies and completely uninterested in tiger nuts. Although I've not properly tested that theory it's got to be worth a try

    I swear to god, i have been trying to find help with this for so long. I am fishing bream and got a really nice one when it was not really intended, i was using a little one rod, one line and one hook (classic fishing) around 3-4kg or 6.6-8.8 pounds. And ofc that little rod could not handle that after a while of trying to fight it, cuz you can not real it in without a reel XD. So i was super excited to make a simple little botton fishing rigg. But then i got introduced to the hell of crawfish. The problem is that the river/stream i am fishing in is not ''even'' on the bottom, and i am using a bobber so its annoying to constantly try to get it in a good spot that is somewhat on the bottom, but not far down enough so the crawfish can steal the bait and go down to there little cave a get my hook stuck. It feels almost impossible, the only solution i could think of is that i have to use floating power bait. I personally usually use corn and dough. But it think i just have to try my way around all of it.

    Just a heads up... i know a lot of anglers throw crays into bushes or crush them as they see them as pests... The British White footed crayfish has almost gone extinct due to anglers and a diseases from American cray's (They are officially endangered and are only found in specific areas rather than being nationwide)... please don't harm them if you pull them out, place them back in a nearby reedbed area where you are not fishing and they will stay there for the day.
    Whitefoot's live up to their name... they are grey grey/brown on top and white white/grey on the bottom. If you really appreciate the wildlife around you, report any sightings or catches to the local authority so their numbers can be counted (don't worry they wont ban fishing).

    Hi guys,
    There is a negative envioralmental issue for using this super wrap.
    In my opinion you should make your viewers aware that these tiny plastic wraps could end up in nature after use and that is anoying.
    Don't throw them on the ground after use or after your days fishing, take them home and put them in the bin.
    And yes it will be eaten by animals because of the sent of the boilies and yes it will stuck in there troughts.
    It happend twice with our dog Sanne at our local swim, she puked her guts out for more then a day. Luckily in the end she got ride of those wraps but she wasn't a happy camper.
    The first time it toke me a couple of days to understand what it was but folowing your UA-cam channal (the big lake series) it was clear to me what it was.
    By the way, I love watching your videos.

      Don't kill them though... A lot of anglers crush them or throw them into bushes... British crayfish have become officially endangered... if it's a White Footed Crayfish (British Cray), put it into a nearby reedbed away from your line and they will stay there for the night.
      If it's American Crayfish, they are classed as pests and carry a disease... the law states you must not return them however that is your choice. But please, care for the British White Footed Crayfish, they are easy to differentiate and you can look online.

Their numbers were obliterated over the last decade due to human activity and diseases from human introduced American variants), so as people in touch with nature, we should be looking after them.
