- Back by popular demand for 2024 are the Bennetts #IsleOfMan TT rider diaries, a series in which #BikeSocial catch up with three of the main protagonists from the #TT races.
Day one saw the opening free practice and qualifying take place, albeit later than planned due to the conditions, but after the day was out, Michael Burton hunted down John McGuinness MBE, Jamie Coward and local star Nathan Harrison to find out how their days went.
So sit back, relax and enjoy!

I just found this video and although I haven’t bought my motorcycle yet (still saving) I’ve been trawling through UA-cam videos for anything bike related. So here I am - and again, I’m so impatient and grateful to you for doing these thorough tests! When I was young, I didn’t look after my bikes and just spent all my time trying to ride them better. Now I’m older, I appreciate maintenance and I’m determined to do the upkeep. Back in the dark ages (pre internet) we only had adverts and word of mouth and finding truthful, up to date, accurate information was very difficult unless you knew someone in the industry. So big thanks to you and UA-cam. I’m learning so much like this. But I really do want to thank you and Bennett’s for providing us with this treasure trove of resources and information.
He is going well, You can't count this legend out!! 👍👍🏁🏁
I was talking about Mcpint.... 😉
Go Half Pint MC! Congrats on a great career and thanks for the entertainment. Good luck this year from all the old guys!☺
We'll make sure we pass on your message to him :)
These lads are superhuman imo but its still quite sobering hearing the nervousness and caution with respect to their first runs. I know they'll work through that but its an eye opener for sure.
I hope all the riders have a great time and get away safe.
Best of luck to all involved.
Any chance you can put the riders names up in writing when you interview them, as not all the viewers are away who the riders are.
Yeah no problem... I'll make sure that's done for the next one going forwards
John McGuiness
Jamie Coward
Nathan Harrison
@@bennettsbikesocial Thank you!
Is Nathan related to Dean?
@@firebladeclementsno relation. Nathan is Manx, born and bred on the IoM. Dean is from mainland England.
Cheers Bennetts for these little gems of catching up with riders! What a fantastic start to the TT it was yesterday. Unfortunately it's been p**g down all day here in the SW of England ( homebound due to back injury BUT I got TTLive!) and it doesn't bode well for tonight either, fingers crossed!
Our pleasure, we'll keep going with them for you
@@bennettsbikesocial Cheers guys, so much appreciated!
I randomly came across johns audio book years ago and from that I’m TT MAD.
Great to hear!
Nice interviews, could you put the riders names and social links, I had to search for nathan harrison ... nice to see a manx man getting some good support from honda!
Looking forward to following along for the week :)
Can’t help feeling he’s pushing the “age” envelope a bit, it’s a young man’s game but he is exceptional - ride your best ride John 👍
His times were pretty strong yesterday, there's still some life left in him yet
I could listen to so much of John , comes across so well on camera
Why do you think we call him the National Treasure ;)
Hi i always wear a clear visor on the bike but for cricket i used to wear yellow sunglasses and they were brilliant in all light and not too dark if the sun went in. Dont know if anyone has tried that for a visor - its too expensive to experiment when you have to pay for them but i would try one if it was free!
I have a yellow pin lock on my shark... brightens up the gloomiest of skies, and reminds me of my amber visor I had in my fizzy days.😊
John you need a yellow visor its a game changer
He's going to try a dark visor for next practice I believe, hopefully it helps!
Just a little bit of advice lads (should you choose to take it!), but would be a help just to put up a quick graphic of their actual names. Maybe it's me age, but I completely forgot Nathan's name, and I had to go look it up! But even for those new to the sport, just casually popping in, it COULD be possible (and that is a massive COULD!) that some alien has landed and come across the channel, and wasn't yet au fait with the legendary status of McPint? Cheers lads! 👍
Advice taken onboard, we'll do it from the next one...
@@bennettsbikesocial Legends! 👍
We're is today's video please and the next day and then every day 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Bennet's for the win.
I think Shoei (probably other brands too) do transitional visors now (photochromic) that go dark in the sun and lighter in the shade, although not sure how fast they will change going in and out of the shadows.
I have one that I've been testing for BikeSocial. www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/helmets/shoei-transitions-visor-review
It's very good and changes quickly enough to cope with everything I've encountered. Although my fastest lap of the Island as a normal road rider was about half the average speeds that they are doing. Steve R
@@bennettsbikesocial thanks for the share 😊 I’ve been after a good review of one. I’m not sure I can really justify spending the money, however I do really want one for my nxr2. if I put it on a credit card It’s easier to pretend that it didn’t happen 😂
Please put up their names as I'm a numpty and don't know who is who.
We will, don't worry
Are there not light reactive visors available now
We can ask the question to the guys on the Shoei truck for you...
Based on my experience at a fraction of their speeds I don't believe the photochromic shields change quickly enough.

Has anyone noticed that Jamie coward looks a bit like Lee Johnston with a beard ?
And much taller ;)
Do these guys wear inflatable vests ? Or parachutes even 🤣🤣 any chanal showing the TT ?
You can watch it all via TT+... head to www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/racing/isle-of-man-tt/guides/tt-tv-schedule-radio-guide-isle-of-man and that will give you all the information you need :)
Don't want to hear an old guy talking I want to see bikes going fast
