    You can drill a hole in the inner panel to remove the golden screw. saves taking out the whole thing

    i followed this video a month ago and worked perfectly, the same door you had the problem on is the same one I had it on. A month goes by and it stops working, the power door does not unlock nor can open manually. Im not sure what to do now because I cant even get the door to open manual. I hope you can help, thanks!

      Hi, you will have to remove the door panel while the door is closed and see what is happening inside. Probably the lock got stuck or actuator got unplugged. It will be a bit of challenge to do it, but should be doable

    Is there a way to leave the unlock the door and just leave it “manual” without replacing the actuator?

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  3 роки тому

      Hmm don't think so. You could possibly unlock the door by removing the door panel and manually moving the lever in the actuator, but you would have to do it every time you want to lock/unlock door. And these actuators sometimes really get stuck

      I just fixed one of these. Mine was seized in the locked position (lock button would not move, so door would not open). I was just planning on replacing with a new actuator, but I decided to take apart the broken actuator and have a look. The cover is only held on by 3 small torx screws. Inside is a small motor with a worm gear that moves a round white cam gear that is what moves the actuator lever arm. Mine was frozen (lock button wouldn't move at all), because the cam gear was binding on the worm gear at the end of its travel. The motor still worked and I was able to fix the actuator just by repacking both gears with new grease. But, if your motor is dead, or the gear teeth are worn/broken and/or the actuator is otherwise no good, you should be able to just remove the white cam gear (and motor, if you want) from the actuator box (this will let the lever arm move freely), put the actuator box back together and reinstall and that should allow you to use the door and lock/unlock manually.
      (Make sure you get the door latch pin back into the curved slot in the actuator lever arm when you reinstall, or it won't work).

      On my 2005 Grand Caravan I just manually pull up or depress the lock knob!

    Can I disconnect this actuator and lock/unlock it manually? Thanks.

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  3 роки тому

      I don't think it will work. If I remember correctly, the lock/unlock pin is connected directly to the actuator and there isn no manual lock on the sliding doors

      @@QuiteAlright I guess I should have told you what my sliding door is doing. It is a manual, not a power sliding door. Sometimes when I open the door, it doesn't unlatch...I pull the handle repeatedly but it won't open. Sometimes (but not always), I can use the unlock button on the drivers side door while pulling up on the locking knob on the sliding door and it unlocks and then I can open the door. Is that an actuator problem?

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  3 роки тому

      Most likely it is actuator problem. It still works in your case, but not how it's supposed to. It's weak so you can sometimes still open the door.
