Yes this can probably happen in any area with Airtel as they use NSA (Non Standalone) Technology which utilizes 4G infrastructure for providing 5G unlike Jio who has completely separate SA (Standalone) Technology due to which we can see better speeds sometimes even more than 1 Gbps as far as I have seen. But Airtel has also started deploying SA Technology and in some cities it is active which also facilitates VoNR calls. Moreover, Vi will also be probably using the NSA Technology initially.

Wahin jio ki 5G 170 mbps arahi hai...4G 40 mbps arahi.
