Once I was reading the story of Jacob wrestling with God and I saw, in my mind, the exact, vivid picture of how it looked - even to the bead of sweat on the tip of Jacob's nose as he held his Foe down with his arm across the base of His throat! Turn off your tv, get alone with God, shut yourself in with Him and the Bible and He'll show you things that'll blow your mind!
Thank you, I was reading the whole Lazarus Resurrection and the Anointing in John lately, too, and I stumbled over some things: 1) the timeline in John: in chapter 11 he speaks of Maria in the past as if she already had annointed Jesus before, but only in John 12 it comes to pass. 2) every name (Lazarus, Maria, Marta) do have a specific meaning. I've read also that maybe John renamed the real persons into Lazarus, Maria and Marta to underline the workings of Jesus. 3) it is said, that the writer of John was not one of the sons of Zebedee, since the gospel was written end of first century or even later, plus having stories which are missing in the other gospels, or even missing the ones that are written in Matt, Mark, Luke. Besides having a totally different language and view on the Jews or women. 4) there is so much more to be discovered in the story of the Anointing reg. worship, praise, serving and , and in the story of Lazarus Resurrection so much about the Love of Christ and having faith in him, but also reg. his mixed emotions, knowing his own burrial is ahead. I am really looking forward to the display of all these things in Season4
Lazarus, technically wasn't resurrected. He was brought back to life in an earthly state to the way he was before he died, only to die again. Only Jesus was "resurrected". The difference is that "resurrection" is what will happen at the time of the final judgment.
It was a taste of the resurrection power to come. And according to Webster’s dictionary: resurrected; resurrecting; resurrects Synonyms of resurrect transitive verb 1 : to raise from the dead 2 : to bring to view, attention, or use again
In the biblical sense Jesus was transformed into the form of Glory that we all hope to acheive. Lazurus was "revived" so to speak. The closest Jesus came to the ressurection before he died on the cross was during the transfiguration on the mountain.
Jesus referred to "Resurrection" saying to Martha: "I am the RESURRECTION (Greek: ἀνάστασις anastasis) (from anastasis "resurrection, a raising up of the dead"literally a setting up, a standing or rising up, from ana "up; again"and the life.")Words often can mean a number of things and the meaning can change over time. Beware of falling victim to "Eisegesis" by dogmatically assigning a specific meaning to English words, (and even their letters) which did not even exist for many hundreds of years after Jesus walked the earth. Additionally, Eisegesis easily lends itself to error, as the would-be interpreter attempts to align the text with his own preconceived notions. Exegesis allows us to hear the Bible's meaning; where as eisegesis seeks to force the Bible to agree with us.See LUKE 11:25
True, Jesus is the only "Resurrection" so far. After Judgment there will be more. In the Greek, a word such as "love" has only one meaning, that is, to wish the best for someone. In English, the word "love" can be used in different ways, i.e. "i love ice cream" or "I love a person" in a romantic way. But when Jesus tells us to love everyone, he means to wants us to hope for the best outcome for our neighbors. This is why we must be careful in reading the Bible and intrepretating the English from the Greek and assuming what the more difficutl passages truly mean.@@mamajan99
I believe this chapter is the only place in scripture where Thomas is called "the Twin", which someone suggested that may have mean that Thomas bore a striking resemblance to Jesus, which would have made him the most at risk of anyone when they returned to Bethany. It qlso could explain why the pharasees and Chief Priests needed Judas to identify Jesus to them in the garden after dark. Interesting...
Great video today. Love it when you dive into the scriptures and link it all up with rhe Chosen. Soooo looking forward to season 4...Hope we don't have to wait to long here in the U K❤ Blessings to you and Vanessa.
I usually don’t watch any previews but it’s Lazarus do I’ll watch this because he’s Jesus friend and this was one of the big scenes that put the icing on the cake regarding Jesus being captured. This was the BIG BIG miracles that made the Pharisees say we’re done. It lets us know we’re closer to the death of Jesus than we think. Lazarus stuck by Jesus and they didn’t like that at all.
I love this video! You showed WHERE these Biblical things took place!!!! Still want you to explore the 7churches John spoke on!!!! You have a launching platform- are you gonna laugh?!?!?! Into the 7 churches in John’s vision/experience???!!!
Lazarus wasn’t resurrected in the way Jesus was. He didn’t have a glorified body. Lazarus, like the girl who was brought back to life would ultimately go on to die one day. Jesus wouldn’t die again.
I've also heard it suggested that Lazarus may have also been called "Simon" and may have died of Leporcy. This would explain why 1 Gospel records the anointing of Jesus feet at the home of Mary and Martha, and another at the home of "Simon the Leeper" which could also explain why Jesus did not immediatly report to Lazarus home but rather stayed outside the town where a Lepper Colonie would have been.
Yes, it is really confusing why all other 3 gospels tell a different story, and Lazarus resurrection only in John. I've read also that maybe John renamed the real persons into Lazarus, Maria and Marta as their names all have a specific meaning, to underline the workings of Jesus.
@@cosmos60 interesting, I had not heard that, but it would fit the overall Arc of John's gospel. He seemed to be riding with more of a poetic or artistic bent than the other Gospels, removing his own name and rearranging some events to paint a metaphoric picture of the truth that was going on behind the scenes.
*The Raising of Lazarus* is among the TWELVE GREAT FEASTS of the Eastern Orthodox Churches. His Hebrew name is Eleazar - name of a Priest among the famous Maccabean Martyrs. Was Eleazar of the House of Levi?? -- or one of the 24 Clans of Cohenim? - was he even related to the mother of John Baptist, Elizabeth, who was 'of the House of Aaron' -- and thus a Relative of JESUS?
As far as the world is concerned, there is no convenient time for Jesus to arrive. Such riches for naught? Some pharacees or the whole Sanhedrin were believing, “We gotta get rid of this fellow. He could ruin everything” But they knew the truth in their hearts maybe or just so hard hearted they wouldnt/couldn’t admit it

Actually, "Jesus wept" is the shortest verse in the English translation. In the Greek NT, the shortest verse is "Be joyful always" (1 Thes. 5:16). In Greek it is only 2 words and the phrase is two letters shorter (pántote Xáirete = always rejoice = 14 letters) than the Greek for "Jesus wept" (edakrysen 'o Iesuos = wept the Jesus = 16 letters). Just some Bible trivia. Cheers!
Brendon do you know if the waiver applies also to filming season 5. Just wondering what happens if some predictions come true and the strike runs through next year.
I was referring to after he was resurrected by Jesus. Was he killed later by the Jews or did he move away for fear of being killed by the Jews. @@ongjanette
There is a difference in the term resurrection and raising from the dead. Resurrection means your spirit is returned to the body but the body is changed to being immortal while raising from the dead is bringing the spirit back to a mortal body. Jesus was the “first fruits” of the resurrection.
Jesus was not weeping for Lazarus He was weeping for those who rejected His words of Life and would be condemned to Hell for all eternity! He felt that those who believed He was the Messiah but could not find FAITH IN HIM to believe that He could bring Lazarus back from death! Remember when Jesus tells His Apostles that it was good that He tarried 2 days before going back to Bethany for there sake so that they would believe! “JESUS WAS WEEPING FOR THE LOST GENERATIONS WHO WOULD NEVER BE SAVED BECAUSE OF THERE UNBELIEF”!
The belief the spirit leaves the body after 3 or 4 days is not true. I too was raised from death by the audible voice of Jesus himself commanding me to stay to protect my children. My spirit left my body within minutes after death. My spirit did not hesitate to obey his command to go back to my body. That was over 35 yrs. ago & God has performed so many other miracles literally since than. God has corrected me through his great love and mercy, and he has been a true, honorable, trustworthy Father to me all my life. Now I'm a great grandma and I truly love, trust and know for a fact the power of Jesus!!!! I pray all of you do as well. Jesus loves you all more than any other can love you.... His love is an overwhelming, powerful love that I pray for all to know.

While I appreciate your show and learn things from it I cant help but wonder why you want to beat out the Rabbi . What is so important about how many people you or he has that are following you? I think what is important is that you share these videos with people in the first place ,hoping that some people who are unsaved will come to Jesus because of this beautiful story . The Bible is true so pray for that , the salvation of people ,not to get more numbers then the Rabbi.
It's evident Jesus wore a tunic, a robe and other pieces of garments not just a mini skirt. The clothes is one of the most inaccurate portrayals of the show. In that strict society rabbis were not showing their legs and thighs to their disciples and their disciples did not treat them like friends or buddies like the show portrays.
Doesn’t matter to me. What matters is that Jesus died, took my sins to the grave and He arose so my sins could be forgiven. I don’t care about his clothes or a fictional account of the Gospels. If the message of the Chosen IS the Gospel that’s the most essential thing. Many people have been saved due to the influence of the show.
