I came back from Phi Phi just a few weeks ago. We totally loved it. Then we went onto Railay and Phranang beaches. Again, totally wonderful. What a beautful country Thailand is
We LOVE Phi Phi! When we were there in 2016, when the tide gets super low, the locals came setup goal posts on the sand and played a full futbol game at dusk. Sky was pink, water was blue, it was beautiful!
The water in the bay there is turquoise, so beautiful! Glad to see your mom recovering, sometimes plans can't beat change, so go with the flow! Thank you very much for sharing! 👍🤩🙏
Awesome sight great aerial shot. So beautiful. Hello Chris and Carol thank you for sharing your wonderful beautiful day . That place is so lovely. I Have fun and enjoy. I’m glad to see Chris mom is ok now and enjoying her vacation.
Long beach is the place to stay in Phi Phi Don. You need to take a Long Tail Boat from the Phi Phi Don harbour but it only takes 10 minutes to get to Long Beach. Much much quieter than in the Village and the beach is BEAUTIFUL. You can also stay in Bungalows with ocean view. Wake up, take a few steps and jump in the ocean. Awesome!
What’s really difficult when traveling Asia , especially in the tropics, is the frequent bouts of gastroenteritis. Sorry you are getting sick so often from Dengue and many many GI issues. Maybe you could share some of your experiences when you got sick. Many who watch videos could learn from your ordeals and maybe you can learn a few things as well preventing some of the illnesses that happen during the travels. BTW your contents are fantastic. The choice of music especially is really soothing and relaxing.
4:03 Yeah I think everywhere I’ve been to in Southeast Asia I had some stomach issues but luckily it wasn’t too bad. Glad to hear she’s feeling better cause it’s nothing worse than feeling sick while on vacation and especially when it’s stomach related and your going to be on long boat or bus journeys.
Visited phi phi islands back in February of 2023, in my opinion it’s a huge tourist trap. You are surrounded by all tourist and the feeling of authenticity is lost immediately. If you want great pictures for the instagram and things like that and don’t care about being around tourists then phi phi is for you. If you want to be around locals and experience Thailand more genuinely I suggest visiting phi phi for the day and returning to mainland and grab a scooter and tour the countryside. Being around locals is so much better than being around tourist either way the island is definitely beautiful
my wife and i got food poising in Thailand just last November. The provided lunch on a tour to James Bond Island from Phuket didnt do us any good. Took 4 days to recover and if you move from place to place, its def not a nice thing. What helped the most was getting Charcoal Tablets.
Glad to see your Mum got better pretty quickly! Sucks to get it when you're travelling, never mind when it's a holiday. I'm the same as you with Maya Bay - been in my heart that place since The Beach and always had it in my mind to visit, sit there and listen to the song from the movie and reminisce about making it there after being inspired as a kid, but as they say, 'Don't meet your hero's', and so I've been put off going by the thought of it being a let down. Looking forward to seeing it in the next video though!
I was in Phi Phi in 2008. I can't believe what happened to it! It was already touristy then but undeveloped really. I stayed in a bamboo hut just near the jetty. Now there is BurgerKing there.
Thanks for showing us around on Phil trip a good hotel and beautiful place and stunning blue waters 💧. A great upload, guys and thanks for sharing Simon and Beth ♥️🙋👍♥️
Hi. I was here with my cousin, sleeping on the beach in a hut, exactly one year before the tsunami hit. When you see a disaster on the TV, the sense is usually of it being somewo far removed but the awful reality that if for a year, that would have been me there on that beach.
Hiya. Chris and Carol. Beautiful intro. The boat did look gorgeous. Bless your mum. And you for not being well. Always enjoy your content. Best tour guides. Gorgeous drone footage. Have a wonderful week.
PS Chris, as you are a photographer, we used to either walk over the hill or catch a small fisherman boat from KPP to the place we stayed just along the coast. If you take that little boat at night time, you can see the fluorescence in the water as the boat and or your hand put in the water, goes through the water. Kind of avatar like to see that!
Congratulations to you guys for your new remarkable video from Phi Phi, Islands Thailand this week in January of 2023.I wish you guys the BEST to have great times on these remarkable islands in 2023❤❤❤
I stayed on Phi Phi 30 years ago. At that time it was a Paradis and I stayed at Long Beach bamboo huts to the right from the harbour. But now😢. I will never go back. Greetings from Norway
I wish you guys good LUCK always in Southeast Asia this week to visits these remarkable islands in Thailand January of 2023.Happy New Year to you guys in peace 2023❤❤❤
Started out just following delightful..and when you guys met up, I figured I give you a try. Glad I subscribed, just love the way you keep it real. In my life time I won't get there. But thru you I feel like I'm living my dream. Keep up the great work 👍 Can't wait till your next video.
Phi Phi used to be good like most of southern Thailand 30+ years ago. I loved Phi Phi, Koh Samui & Phuket. Today, I wouldn't bother unless you are just looking for commercialism or into partying. It has no draw for us Boomers anymore. Prefer the outlying islands of the Philippines with no commercialism or hotels - thank you for showing the incredible beauty!
When you have any problems with your health In Thailand you don’t have to make an appointment to see The Doctor just walk in any time. We have a lot of pharmacy for simple sickness you can walk in with out an appointment too. Take care & Have a nice trip.
You guys are really great with such relatable content. Keep up the great work. Just two question from my side though. 1. What gear did you use for the videos? 2. Did you guys travel on the month of January or February? If not, which month is it?
I got food poisoning in Phi Phi back in 2018..luckily my GP sent me with (just in case)antibiotics so I took them right away and it only took me out for about 24hrs I was able to make it through the rest of the trip and not feel completely dead, lol... Glad your mom has recovered.
Magnifique c est un très beau paysage la Thaïlande c est un très très beau pays j aime beaucoup la Thaïlande et les îles thaïlandaises très belles video j aime beaucoup et énormément merci beaucoup pour le partage
If possible - you should book a scuba diving tour in Maya bay 👍🏻 even if you have done so before 👍🏻 also, checkout Slinky Bar at night (it’s on the beach) enjoy
Glad to hear your mom is feeling better. Any idea where she got it or what it was she ate? I've had food poisoning, but never for that long. Sounds dreadful.
Wow. "The Beach" (with Leo D) has done this island no favor. It would seem that Kho Phi Phi has become the Boracay of Thailand... overdeveloped, and over-touristed. Thanks for saving me the trip!
I have to write to you that you are similar to the Minister of Unitary Affairs of the Republic of Croatia in his younger days. Otherwise the videos are perfect. Greetings from Zagreb, Croatia
Phi Phi has changed so much. Before the tsunami the port was just a wooden walkway and the village was only hut bars nothing, surprised to see McDonald's and 7-11. I will be going soon to Phi Phi in the next 4 months, can't wait. I'm glad I've seen the old Phi Phi and almost all of Southern Thailand before the invasion of the Russian and Chinese and Indian tourist. I miss the old Thailand as these western food chain spoiled the atmosphere. The walking street used to be mud lane not like all paved.
What a beautiful place! Be careful of the sea urchins. I fell on a sea urchin, putting my hand on it. The needles went so deep I hand to have surgery to remove them and they let go a poison that makes you sick, not fun.
PS I am enjoying your Mexico videos on my first trip right now to Mexico. Mazunte stands out as feeling somewhat like Byron Bay in Australia kind of a place. I haven't got there yet. Mexico now, reminds me of Thailand 20-25 years ago in terms of the level of development and contrast between richer and poorer towns and people. I am curious if you find the prices are similar though for meals and accomodation between Thailand and Mexico? Mexico seems to cost more now than when I last visited Thailand in 2006.
Phi Phi used to be a paradise. I was so shocked when I went back and saw a McDonalds there and hoards of people. I packed up and left the next day on the first ferry out. I enjoyed Koh Lipe much more. It was like Phi Phi used to be. Now it’s becoming polluted and over crowded with beer guzzling partiers and bar fights. They might as well start building high rise condos.
Ewoc...I had a pizza also from Pieology Pizzareria in pleasant hill... Thailand have changed alot...no Thai boxing ring...women are treated well I hope....before Thai men serve as a monk...while women have to work treated as a second class citizen... We even rescued Vietnamese refugees on a boat with no more food out of sea ...rejected by other ships passing by and brought them to Morong, Bataan refugees camp in the Philippines... I thought it was Carol parents but in the it was Chris...terrific....
My buddy didn’t have food poison but drug overdose in Phuket, Thailand...it was wild then...part of Golden Triangle.. synonymous of opium and heroine trade...
I am Thai and my first time to Phi Phi island was in 1991 or 31 years ago!! it was stunning and so peaceful. I came here for a couple of time after that but it is not beautiful anymore even i can say ugly island with very ugly buildings and resort all over the Island. This is a sad story . The only one good thing to come here is to see Beautiful Maya bay but that's all...
Hello, I have a question; I’ve never been to the Far East Asian countries (except Malaysia) in Langkawi island I noticed it was too cloudy and dark all the days, are the other countries also the same or more sunny and shiny?

If you guys are still there you should definitely visit the Kongsiam Live Music Bar in the evening. Very good band, lead singer is quite famous.
Incredible views of the islands. We need to add this to our list next time in Southern Thailand.

I was there 2 weeks before the tsunami. When I'm in Thailand I only eat Thai food.
I was there in 2000 and now it's all concrete were jungle and beaches used to be and McDonald's And Burger King in paradise?
Couldn´t believe how it has changed in a few years. Vile noisy overcrowded place. Garbage and raw sewage everywhere

The color of waters of the beaches in the Philippines is nicer and clearer, being more turquiose and aqua, rather than emerald.
Agree...cuz philippines is in pacific and the sea is bluest and clear

OMG, Phi Phi has changed soooooo much in just 10 years since we were there. McDonalds and Burger King WTF?
Yes many people are mentioning it looks terrible now compared to what it used to be
Still beautiful though...
blame leonardo dicaprio Lol😅
Same you missed out on Koh Sok . amazing place .
Next time!
Super 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Very nice video. Thank you.😊
Muy hermoso lugar!!
Try the Long Beach !
We wanted to but we were tired from the travel to phi phi and the hike to the viewpoints so we didn't want to do the trek to long beach

Yes it is a shame they killed pretty much all the nature in the town area, doesn't really have an island vibe at all with zero trees or plants around
oh man, that's sad. I wanted to visit Thailand ever since I saw that film 'The Beach'...I can't believe these places are getting so commercialized
You are living this life brother :)
What a beautiful place! Be careful of the sea urchins. I fell on a sea urchin, putting my hand on it. The needles went so deep I hand to have surgery to remove them and they let go a poison that makes you sick, not fun.
It's not a tourist trap. It's just a small island. One weekend is enough. I liked the fire show and kickboxing venue they have

lol i was there near 40 years ago ,its changes enormously , for the worse too,
Yeah but it was already spoiled 4 years ago
Got 2 large whopper meals from that Burger King last month. £25. Tourist trap,Khoa sok is better.
It’s so sad, Phi Phi has lost its charm thru over development. It was so nice in the pre tsunami days😢
Yep, it already was straining from lack of infrastructure back 20 years ago to meet the demands.
I was there in 2021 during the pandemic. It was paradise.
