Everyone talking about black holes and Arrow's death... While I'd like to comment on what a GREAT, badass and clever Captain Amelia is. She took what seriously looked like a hopeless situation, stayed in perfect command, and used it to pull the ship away from danger, almost completely unharmed. That's some Captain Kirk Skills right there!! I fucking love her...

And you could easily say the ship produced the atmosphere, I mean come on it had artificial gravity so why not? It could also explain why they aren't incinerated; forces fields. They'd need them for this to work anyway. I've heard people speculate about how force fields, if they were ever made a reality, might be invisible anyway, so once again why not?
Articus Ramos or what if the sails made some sort of binding with the artificial atmosphere and the masts generted the atmosphere like u saw that rock guy fly off and he was literally hanging in space away from the ship while the sails were out so yea the sails also act as really really probably like 1000x strong (as in energy standards) solar sails that convert the energy they catch into ion thrusters so alot of science behind the ship on the out side dont no if all of this is true so correct meh if im wrong

Who knows this maybe isn't a black hole that we know. this is a Science fiction steampunk esque universe with breathable air in space and anthropomorphic animals. Maybe in this Universe the black holes work as some sort of gravity anomaly that sucks in everything and releases some kind of energy. This movie is fiction not everything has to be in real standards. That is what Fiction is all about making things that aren't real, real or modifying real things to do something they don't.
Actually, when black holes are forming, they do release jets of energy, though from the poles, not from within, so they were partially right on a few aspects.
actually this is how black holes work, You're able to get close to the event horizon and as long as you don't cross it, all you'll have to worry about is the gravity of it, which is actually no larger than the gravity of the sun that it used to be, note however it can quickly absorb other materials and grow.
I love Smith's hand protecting Jim, and his eyes closing after Jim's to check on him- it's small, but such a great bit of animation to add to the character relationship.
This is the cruelest Disney death ever. Scar killed Mufasa because be wanted to take his place as King. Clayton killed Kerchak because he was being charged by an angry gorilla. Scroop killed Arrow because ... he just felt like it. Also, because of how black holes work, his death is going to last a very long time to him.
I think Scroop killing Arrow was a mix of him still being bitter over their exchange after Silver stopped him from hurting Jim and just wanting to remove a threat to the planned mutiny. It was obvious that nothing was going to make Arrow join the mutiny and would fight them valiantly with the Captain, so it would make sense for Scroop to get rid of him to make the mutiny easier when it came along, even if just a little.

Thing is, a solar surfer wouldn't even be difficult to make, given how far we've advanced with our technology. You would need a single sail made of solar panel composite cloth and the corresponding poles, a small, pedal-operated combustion engine of some kind that's strong enough to propel it forward, and a hover-board/surfboard that wouldn't catch fire. It may take a while, but eventually someone will perfect it.
I saw this movie in theaters when I was a kid, and this scene scared the shit out of me. It doesn't anymore, but knowing how Black Holes work (regardless if their physics don't apply here,) makes me feel more bad for Mr. Arrow than any other character who's died in a disney film. What a terrible fate. D8
To put it simply, if you were to get sucked into a black hole, your body would essentially be ripped into several million, possibly billion, pieces at an exceedingly rapid speed. In other words, if the black hole in Treasure Planet worked like black holes actually do, Mr. Arrow would've suffered one of the worst possible deaths a living being could experience.
As a kid, Arrow's death terrified me not because of the gratuity, but because someone so big and strong was completely meaningless in the colossal, devouring power of the vastness of space
For some reason, I've always found the little sequence at 2:44 with Arrow, Scroop and the other crewmembers working together to unfurl the sails as the music swells really poignant. Amelia in this scene is like me to myself during a school test, "SECURE ALL LIFE LINES! ALL HANDS TO STATIONS!" and holy shit did I get an big fat F in Algebra.
I don't know about any of you, but over a decade later, this scene still gives me chills 1:33. The few shots of the characters to show how much worse the situation got was brilliant.
I thought it had a jarring but exquisite feel. I can see the 3D meshed with the 2D but you’re right. The dimension comparison adds to the gravity of the scene 👏
this is honestly my favorite scene The action is wonderfully delivered with beautiful visuals full of energy, Jim and Silver's relationship is perfectly described, we get to see Captain Amelia's skills in action, and most of all Mr. Arrow's death was, personally, the most unexpected part of the whole movie
0:54 Arent we gonna mention that guys flawless aim? He legit saved the entire crew, if one of those smaller asteroids managed to hit the ship, it would be game over.
Oh, God. The way they get the ship to escape from the black hole is PRECISELY the same as what happened in the climax of Star Trek 2009, using the explosion to propel the ship out of the hole's gravity well range. Hah! Looks like Kirk has been watching Disney movies. xD
2:18 This is a beautiful demonstration of loyalty and trust. Mr. Arrow is confused, he doesn't know why Amelia gave that order, but he trusts her and knows that she must have her reasons. So he obeys.
While most kids were scared or terrified or whatever the case maybe but this scene was always my favorite scene in the movie and what started me to take interest in astronomy.
Everything in this scene is striking, so I will only add that Dr. Doppler was once again very useful for the whole team, his encyclopedic knowledge helped to come up with this plan and get out of the black hole, which was considered simply unthinkable.
At 2:10, Doppler says “There’ll be one more in exactly 47.2 seconds, followed by the biggest magilla of them all!” And, sure enough, 47 seconds later at 2:57, Mr. Arrow is thrown off of the ship by that same wave. Amazing attention to detail.
Mr. Arrow getting pulled into the black hole scared me, and despite knowing how black holes work, they still scare me. I can't look at one without feeling sick
Silver protecting gym with his own body always stuck out to me. It was a fast image, was only on screen for 2 seconds but in that moment… I knew what it meant to want to protect someone precious to you.
if any Disney property deserves more material, it's definitely Treasure Planet. the movie itself is kinda rough around the edges for me, but with a more serious tone and the seemingly endless resources of the house of mouse, either an animated or live action series set in this world would be nice. the concept alone has endless potential if done right, just needs a bit of a visual update
@@sunsetman22 How is it rough around the edges? The tone is consistent, there's more character development than in most Disney movies, the visuals are gorgeous and the world-building is creative. The only flaw I can think of is the characterization of B.E.N.
My favorite part of this scene that doesn't get a lot of love is The captain's eyes when she's running towards the bridge. The it's. The way they're turning into slits like a cat does when it's in danger is great
Long John Silver wrapping himself around Jim is a great touch. First cuz Jim is terrified cuz it's his first voyage & Long John has been on many so he knows how the kid's feeling. Second he won't admit it (neither will Jim) but he's taken the role of father figure & what father wouldn't hesitate to protect his son
I remember people made fun of this movie's depiction of a black hole because it was a 2D hole on an orange surface, instead of just a total void. After the M87 pictures, this was actually a pretty good depiction of a black hole.
Shanemagi Am sorry but I don't know where you get your information from . All the movies you just named were massive hits except maybe for the Musketeers movie , which am not sure about . Treasure planet didn't "under perform", it bombed .
Fahad Alazraqi My point is that it doesn't matter whether it was a financial success or not. If it's a Disney movie, it has as good of a chance as any other Disney movie to be in Kingdom Hearts.
"Of course! Brilliant, Doctor!" I find it so funny and cute that she was the one who actually came up with the idea but credited him for it. Personally, I think the main problem with this movie is it was too far ahead of its time.
As kids most of us would’ve believed mr arrow simply fell into a bottomless pit. But no. By falling into a black hole, he was practically subjected to spaghettification. So he died in the most painful way
In my opinion, this is Disney's best movie by a long shot. In every way. The writing is better, the dialogue is intellectual, the animation is gorgeous, the acting is amazing the story is expanded on the original, and the soundtrack is the best I ever heard. This scene is one of the best in Sci-fi history. Up there with the space battle in Return of The Jedi and the ice crystals scene from Titan A.E. It's just one of the best movies in general to me.
@@hobomike6935 two things: 1. People are saying the quality is from UA-cam. On a better platform like Disney Plus or the silver screen, people say it’s significantly better. 2. The oddity of the scene could add to the situation as the blackhole is kind of blurry but still artistic. After all, flames look weird when drawn in shapes. They have to be formless to look legit sometimes. That’s just my interpretations. I tried to draw fire, that wasn’t easy when I mainly draw the shapes.
This is not science fiction in the strictest sense, it's a fantasy, which is why it's completely scientifically inaccurate. But my god this was a beautiful film, and vastly underrated.
OK. Really good characters, georgous animation, wonderful action scenes like this, would it really hurt to give it a re release? This film also has a strong fanbase if you ask me.
For the science freaks here, I believe the aim was to simulate a whirlpool in an ocean and big waves. Also, this movie didn't come out after Interstellar, so they couldn't have known much about how black holes worked.
the music in this scene is fantastic. The epicness of Jim and Silver walking onto the bow sprit against the storm 0:48 , the seriousness of the music as dr. dopler delivers vital information that will save them all 2:04 . it's all fantastic.

Scroop looks like he wants to find a way to get Mr. Arrow killed.
He face just spells "You son of a b-tch" 😂
Amelia in this scene is like me to myself during a school test, "SECURE ALL LIFE LINES! ALL HANDS TO STATIONS!" and holy shit did I get an big fat F in Algebra.
+Technicolour Scribbler
Did you remember to unfurl those sails?
5Oblivion No, that's probably what went wrong DX.
I don't know about any of you, but over a decade later, this scene still gives me chills 1:33. The few shots of the characters to show how much worse the situation got was brilliant.
I thought it had a jarring but exquisite feel. I can see the 3D meshed with the 2D but you’re right. The dimension comparison adds to the gravity of the scene 👏
this is honestly my favorite scene
The action is wonderfully delivered with beautiful visuals full of energy, Jim and Silver's relationship is perfectly described, we get to see Captain Amelia's skills in action, and most of all Mr. Arrow's death was, personally, the most unexpected part of the whole movie
This movie got the exact treatment of "I'm stil here" song. A masterpiece stands regardless people like it or not
0:54 Arent we gonna mention that guys flawless aim? He legit saved the entire crew, if one of those smaller asteroids managed to hit the ship, it would be game over.
Hence why he's the gunner
Oh, God. The way they get the ship to escape from the black hole is PRECISELY the same as what happened in the climax of Star Trek 2009, using the explosion to propel the ship out of the hole's gravity well range. Hah! Looks like Kirk has been watching Disney movies. xD
2:30-2:35 you can see scroop so pissed off at arrow that it's at this moment he decides, "im gonna kill him."
Wow, you're right!!
Seeing the huge mass of star matter stop short of impact only to see a freshly born black hole was terrifying for young and current me
Everything in this scene is striking, so I will only add that Dr. Doppler was once again very useful for the whole team, his encyclopedic knowledge helped to come up with this plan and get out of the black hole, which was considered simply unthinkable.
What really disturbing than getting drop in the black hole is that it doesn't show you what happened to you. You just disappear in the dark abyss
3:43 I love that every time they "win" in this movie, this awesome score plays
R.I.P. ROSCOE LEE BROWN THE VOICE OF MR. ARROW AND BRIAN MURRAY THE VOICE OF SILVER SUCH EXCELLENT ACTORS WHO NEVER GAVE BAD PERFORMANCES
This was the scariest, most tense adrenaline-injecting scene that I watched as a 7 year old kid. It still gives me goosebumps.
Nobody talking about Doppler putting his astronomy doctorate to use and saving the situation by knowing how to escape it ? Because I always liked that
Silver protecting gym with his own body always stuck out to me. It was a fast image, was only on screen for 2 seconds but in that moment… I knew what it meant to want to protect someone precious to you.
Meanwhile, we got boring discount space that doesn't even have air in it.
Niohimself 😂😂
And where everything interstellar takes a life time to get to... even at the highest speed we can imagine (light speed).
Discount space😂😂
I hear Elon's working on premium, air accessible space access. There's a discount for Twitter users.
This movie is SO underrated.
3:35 the way Silver is protecting Jim 😭😭😭
1:36 One thing this movie got right, the way it shows us space. That black hole is actually terrifying.
I understand this scene is intense, but It lowkey makes me want to see a prequel of captain Amelia’s past experience.
if any Disney property deserves more material, it's definitely Treasure Planet. the movie itself is kinda rough around the edges for me, but with a more serious tone and the seemingly endless resources of the house of mouse, either an animated or live action series set in this world would be nice. the concept alone has endless potential if done right, just needs a bit of a visual update
@@sunsetman22 How is it rough around the edges? The tone is consistent, there's more character development than in most Disney movies, the visuals are gorgeous and the world-building is creative. The only flaw I can think of is the characterization of B.E.N.
3:42 when the spicy wings finally hit your colon.
Please don't make me think of it that way 🙈😂
I'm assuming that if this took place on water, like the original story, this would be a tidal wave or a giant whirl pool.
Commander Karl In the film it was a storm that killed him at this point.
I was tginking hurricane.
This would have been a perfect re-release date.
have the pleasure of owning the art book , what a bloody beautiful film
This scene is scientifically inaccurate in all the BEST ways, absolutely unforgettable.
RIP Rockface
Arrow was First Mate as a Star Sailor who has too much bossing.
I love this movie. SO much.

I NEED IT IN KINGDOM HEARTS 3.
+Shanemagi I guess. I mean the spider guys could be the final boss in that world. I mean look at what he did to Mr. Arrow.
So? The Mickey Mouse Musketeer movie, Tron: Legacy, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Sleeping Beauty were all box office underperformers too.
Shanemagi
Am sorry but I don't know where you get your information from .
Queen Jenny You are a genius! NEVER CHANGE THAT.
"Of course! Brilliant, Doctor!"
I find it so funny and cute that she was the one who actually came up with the idea but credited him for it.
It's just one of the best movies in general to me.
the shots at 1:34 and 1:41 are so Bad@$$, especially Doppler and Captain Amelia. worthy of a PC screensaver
@@hobomike6935 two things:
Btw, is no one gonna mention Jim saving Silver? That was pure adrenaline right there!
A movie with breathable air in space, aliens, and a steampunk style.
Idiots: "ThAt'S nOt HoW bLaCk HoLeS wOrK"
1:26 this eyeball dude freaking out kills me 😂
At least Jim, Mr. Silver, and Mr. Arrow can see right through Scroop, so why can't everyone else, including the Captain?
R.I.P Mr. Arrow. He was a good man & a fine spacer, but knew the risks.
I'm only here for two reasons:
1) The new black hole pictures
2) Nostalgia
this movie is so underrated, just like real buried treasure.
This is not science fiction in the strictest sense, it's a fantasy, which is why it's completely scientifically inaccurate. But my god this was a beautiful film, and vastly underrated.
For space and aliens, this made it into sci-fi.
It's "science fantasy", which combines both elements into one distinct genre, though the term is relatively new.
This scene is so intense!!! Mr. Arrows Death is really sad!!! Such an incredible film!!! ❤️
OK. Really good characters, georgous animation, wonderful action scenes like this, would it really hurt to give it a re release? This film also has a strong fanbase if you ask me.
The physics in that reality is different from ours, and the sounds of the background I like
I love how surreal this movie is
That dude falling into the blackhole was one of the saddest cartoon deaths I've ever seen.
Leading Amelia the only top space sailor to remain.
And it's one of the most brutals and scariest if you learn how black holes work
2:33
Scroop: Why are you doing this to me?
3:10
Scroop: Oh well, it’s the end for you
0:11 Good heavens! The star Permusa, It’s gone SUPERNOVA!!! 😨🔭
For the science freaks here, I believe the aim was to simulate a whirlpool in an ocean and big waves. Also, this movie didn't come out after Interstellar, so they couldn't have known much about how black holes worked.
3:05 and thus did Disney sneak one of the most gruesome deaths possible in all the universe right past our noses.
All you need to survive a supernova is a Sailing ship with rocket engines and some rope
the music in this scene is fantastic. The epicness of Jim and Silver walking onto the bow sprit against the storm 0:48 , the seriousness of the music as dr. dopler delivers vital information that will save them all 2:04 . it's all fantastic.
Just a great movie with great music amazing storyline and Charakters and a nice ending I JUST FREAKING LOVE THIS MOVIES SO MUCH really sad that the sequel didn’t make it because it was all written but not animated and then the 1 movie flopped however (I DONT GET WHY)!🤷♂️but yeah A MASTERPIECE 👑👌🙌🤩🔥
RIP Brian Murray
(9/10/1937 - 8/20/2018)
Shouldn't the torso-faced guy's head have a separate lifeline? :P
Robert Knop well the head is has multiple limbs, so the main part is actually his security measure from falling
Seeing that alien with all the tentacles spin the steering wheel of the ship is really satisfying for some reason
at 3 12 I think the part where scroop kills arrow at the event horizon of the black hole also symbolises the villain himself crossing the MORAL event horizon as well
I think that was rather clever for the storywriters of the film to do something like that
This was so WELL DONE!!!
The Cannonier at 0:58 is a whole mood😂
😂😂😂😂😂
I loved this movie when I was a kid. The nostalgia is unreal
I'd be shitting bricks if i was in this situation. It would be so fuckin hopeless to me
I love the Musker/Clements Disney movies so much.
3:26
"Yeah, take it away, Ernie. It's going to be a bumpy ride."
1994: Scar kills Mufasa
2002: Mr. Arrow gets sucked into a black hole
These scenes scarred me
