Morning bear. My SHTF happened 13 years ago this June when my 45 year old wife passed away from ovarian cancer. From diagnosis to her death was the absolute worst 14 months for both of us. It has forever changed me.

Losing my wife changed me forever too. She didn't pass away but descended into full blown schizophrenia. Constantly attacking me and calling the cops.Tried killing her parents because she thought they were robots sent by Obama to kill her and replace her with a robot, etc. I am sorry for your loss. I work for a phone company. We had a "data breach" about a month ago that locked up our systems completely. It wasn't the customer side, but the corporate side that was hit. They took everything down to prevent it from spreading. It made about a week of little to no week each day (a nice change of pace). Just a few days ago, on our work phones, we had something pass through to confirm a test through some emergency alert system (for disaster relief type stuff).
The biggest part of the changes in my field that has me worried is the fact that we have lost a ton of experience in the past 6 years, with no one being trained on how to work in those systems. In addition to this, because of all the work groups that the company has gotten rid of, they contract out for a ton of things. So, we will have random people, without IDs roaming the COs, working in our manholes, etc. This would make it extremely easy to compromise our infrastructure. On top of this, all of our old data trunk lines that had copper backups are now solely fiber, and more and more of them are merging to a solely fiber backup and main run. This makes it easier to be taken down from things like a power outage or digging without locates (another telco company had a fiber cut about a month ago that knocked pur 911 across 4 states).
Technology makes life amazing and easy when everything is working, and it normally does. However, because we become trained to rely on technology doing things for us, we become lazy and stupid. We forget how to remember telephone numbers, we forget how to do basic math, we forget which direction is north, we forget how to remember locations or use a basic map, we forget how it feels to be out in nature. This is why a power failure would be so destructive, because everything that we rely on to have an easy life, with climate controlled homes, would disappear overnight.

I think mandatory digital ID, is another trigger point. Along with cashless society. Estimated to be in effect in Australia in full force by the endnof next year. People having dreams of a tidal wave rolling down from the top end across Australia, tidal wave, ussually synonymous with a large army. Darwin, now considered to dangerous. Alice Springs also considered dangerous. Remote towns having troubles with rioting. Etc.

Mid last year in Florida, we had a bad hurricane. Two weeks plus, no power, heavy flooding, trees blocking roads. The stores in town were without power. You had what you had and that was it.
My neighbors were outside on the side of the road with signs begging for resources because they didnt prepare. This happened in the first 3 days.
It did not take long for thefts to start popping up. We had to patrol around our 80 acre property, condensed ourselves to about 2 acres to keep ourselves together

I at the age of 5, knew the only one looking after me was the father in heaven I at 15 was aware of the indoctrination that was happening. At 72 yrs there's been many life changing events, I think your right on, thank you for the blessing you are to me!
I'm turning 38 and also realized at about the age of 10 that indoctrination was going on yet at that age didn't know what it was called....I was clinicaly diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder because I would question "authority " figures (basically any adult ie. School ) especially my mother. I could never understand how a full grown adult will get mad at a child for calling out bs and when they keep pushing for an answer on why they being lied to and what the reason for trying to get them to believe a lie is, they punish the child for not following the line....I spent 10 months in a psychiatric hospital at age 11...the very next year I was placed in juvy for another 11 months......I have forgiven my mother but I will never understand that mentality...since then I have been very keen that I only have me and god to get me through life...I feel i see the world through a lens that was before my time.
As someone who owns a big fan and has been shoveling all variety of fecal matter into it, i concur. When SHTF, the fan slowly breaks. That's it.

Having worked with Red Cross and Emergency Management, that was very smart to go federal. Leaves a lot of operational jurisdiction issues in the ditch.

I'm a bondsman/bounty hunter family owned and operated for 30 years. I'm in east, Tn and the changes and the extent of violent crimes has sky rocketed in the last 2-3 years., not to mention the cost of living is now on par with metro cities, like St Louis., Detroit, D.C and so on. I think if we are not in a mild SHTF then we are in mediocre SHTF.
There are so many things that happen when just power gets denied to an area, but most ppl are worried about NODs and rifles. Like you said, medical treatment gone, sanitation gone, food stores gone, and so on.

I have come to understand that I have been through a few SHTFs myself. Being stuck in NYC during that blackout that started in Canada, 9/11, 2 weeks without power after Sandy . And most of all, the loss of my husband 20 years ago leaving me with 3 children under 7 to raise without their father. By the grace of Yah, they are thriving young adults.

The Red Cross has same issue with those first 48-72 hours. Locals have issues letting go when National arrives, but locals get it started and there can be territorial issues but the locals are exhausted. I was one of the first locals to show up for assistance for Mass Care of the emergency responders from line men to FBI. We set up a shelter for those in area. We started the coffee and food stations (free) and a place to rest. It was non-stop for hours! After a couple days of non-stop … you’re exhausted! In comes National to take over… I was never so glad when they came! I was all yours, no territorial issues here! Let me get some sleep! For me… it meant back to work at the call center for military emergency service! Weeks later I was out for training exercises and off to overseas! Talk about tired!
Your telling the emergency responders to go sleep was HUGE! Thank you for that! Locals don’t often realize how important that is! You can help if you are a wreck!
Know you hate your encounters with ARC. When I was with them, still credible. Disaster relief was changing towards the end of my time. Frankly, we were thrilled when all the others came to help, but some came to make disaster money!
There was a time when Red Cross workers behaving badly went to prison!

@bear I agree, S h t f looks different for everybody. My wife and I recently. Went our separate ways afterwards. She promptly got fired. When I left the house, I left her half of the food we prepped. That, in addition to my required, child support is what is currently feeding her and my children when they are there...the shit hit the air circulation device on the home scale due to her poor choices😡 but as long as the rent is paid they have shelter and my babies eat.

We are already going through SHTF and it hit years ago. Either people are in denial, or they are too worried about themselves and they all want to just what they can for themselves... so yeah it's done it, and it will just keep piling up until something major breaks and can't get fixed for the Normies to adjust. That panic and mass stupidity kicks in.

So we had a household SHTF here very recently and even lost what we consider a family member who we loved dearly with all our heart, I still haven't accepted what happened. Its all a matter of perspective and what you consider to meet the criteria. My wife raises Papillion dogs and they're the equivalent to our children, somehow they all got Parvovirus and had to hospitalize 5 dogs, we lost the mama "Valkyrie" but we're able to save all the others Praise the father, it's was a hard 2 weeks for us. Some people say they're just dogs, some people are going through harder times than us, it could've been a test to see how we deal with a potential mass casualty event , I don't know but the term SHTF comes in many forms

In 2011, an EF5 tornado ripped thru my state of Missouri, completely leveled Joplin. That was def SHTF. Myself and 5 buddies loaded up a trailer with tools, supplies, water, food, and headed down. It was a sight I’ll never forget.
My area is well protected from natural disaster, like hurricane and tornado. Not much in way of earthquake or volcanic activity. I most common is wildfire. With individual site preparation, even that is not much of a threat. The way you put this is very true. Everyone is going to be different.

A great summary of what happens after a major weather disaster. Having lived through Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, MS, I can say your analysis and time line are right on. Back then, the government had not developed the "shut down, keep out" techniques to the extent that they have been refined to now, so we had lots of help come in quickly from family and others who could help out. Thankfully, we didn't have much of the lawlessness to deal with. Could be because of our experience and preparation. Also, lots of gun owners around here. Still doesn't prevent the loss and suffering, though. August on the Gulf Coast with no power/air conditioning/refrigeration is no fun. One extra point about the duration of the event: at almost 19 years post Katrina, there's still infrastructure that's not fully repaired. We can thank FEMA and some of the other federal gov't meddlers for that.

Little downward slips allow you to course correct if you're paying attention. It's the same with morals, spirituality, job performance investing..etc. Paying attention is what most people fail to do. You have to have your internal GPS on at all times. Be sober and alert.

Looting is always a problem here in the north and west when we get the forest fires every year now. Tjey will come from as far away as the coast into eastern Wash. Idaho and even western Montana to loot the properties where fire has already partly to mostly destroyed properties to steal whatever they can!! Its so disgusting and insane!!

The government maintains control through marshal law but violence is allowed to skyrocket. This is actually far more likely in a first world country like the U.S. or those in Europe.

I agree! I have been saying for years that we are being desensitized and boiled slowly like a frog. They want total control. I'm not sure if all of the weather disasters this year is man made or Yah. But in all events I believe and remind myself often that Yah has a plan for good. We have to go through the bad times to appreciate the good that Yah brings.
