this video is from 2017, it is now 2021. i'm not awesome at counting but i think that makes it 4 years old. Your video is still helpful to me 4 years after you made it, thank you.
haha.. but no! Glad to hear a north american that talks at a reasonable (i.e. not hasty) pace. I often find myself doing the oppsite, like for Matt Colville, but y'know different folks...
@@godfreemorals it's more about time-saving. He speaks at such a pace that at 1.75 you can still understand everything perfectly when you think about how many videos is there and how long they are... That's a big game-changer for me.
I come back to these videos every time one of my gaming groups wants to play Blades and I need a refresher on the rules. Thank you so much for the videos!
I just read the entire book over the course of a weekend and took a lot of it in but I can already tell watching these is going to help a lot to just get that information fully understood. Subscribed. Nice work
Thanks very much for doing such a detailed breakdown. I've been playing TTRPGs for forty years now, but BitD has a lot of really original and unique ideas and mechanics, and I'm having some trouble wrapping my brain around it. I feel like watching this series will help me grok what I need to run this fascinating game.
I just picked up Scum & Villainy, but there's little content for it here aside from playthroughs. So I'm very glad this series is here to help me understand the fundamentals. Thanks!
Thanks so much for making this video! I'm planning to DM my first game and decided to go with Scum and Villainy, but I'm totally unfamiliar with the rules. I find learning game rules via video to be much easier for me, and these videos are clear, straightforward, and easy to follow! :)
I would like to request a video covering magnitude I sort of understand it but in the book I find the table is very confusing. Some examples may be helpful.
My BitD hardcover is arriving tomorrow. Before watching your 5+ hour video series I had watched a few hours of other content regarding BitD. They were useful but not as detailed and informative as your content. I am most appreciative with your review because even though I have not read the full text I have already pieced together much of what I need to do to use it. I will probably create and implement a mini-hybrid from this system for a smoother fit for my players whom do not easily adapt to change. The one thing I think I missed if you would answer for me (or remind me) would be -> do the player characters (themselves) go up in tiers or just the Crew rating? I guess what I'm asking is that for personal character Improvement, is it only shown through the increased pips of traits? Thank you for your time, energy and kindness.
Yep you got it! The crew goes up in tier and the characters go up in skills and action ratings. That way there's an incentive for everyone to contribute to the crew even if they're scoundrels 😉 Hope you enjoy the game and best of luck!
hmm quite complex rules? no way more they are just as or more complex than D&D... or Savage Worlds... orTraveller... or Pathfinder... or Gurps... or Rolemaster... Blades in the Dark's system is absurdly intuitive and narrative and the battle rules (spell descriptions, attacks of opportunity, bonuses) of all those games make them immensely more complex than just thinking about position and effect.

You're very welcome! It's awesome to hear that you are getting something out of it on repeat viewing!
2024 - still useful 🤣
Set the video speed to 1.75, thank me later.
I thought that was gonna be way too fast, but... Thank you.

@@Majestat fair enough, I also do that with audiobooks and indeed once I saw how looooong this series was I can totally get your point!
I will be thanking you now,
Thank you

Just wanted to pass by and thank you for the series you uploaded for BiTD. My players and I are ever grateful.

You're very welcome! I'm glad this series can be a gateway to everything this game does!
Oh my friend. Thank you so much mucho much for these videos! Makes learning Blades a few degrees easier.
Tomer Gurantz You're very welcome!

That's pretty useful, btw back colour is really well-matched with Blades in the Dark. I got in the mood very quick
Thanks! I tried to grab as much of the theming used in the book as I could for this series.

You're welcome! Enjoy your campaign of S&V!
Thank goodness! I needed some help learning this new game!
Jordan Kolbeck I hope you find it useful!
This is a perfect series for any newbie gm like me intending to review the rules. I cannot stress how well are the videos structured.
Thank you, I'm glad you've found it to be useful!
Amazing, just what i was looking for. Thanks
This was very useful, thank you.

Wish that you had a class description video
This is great thanks!
Random FF tactics picture. Hmmm. And his name too. Omg. I love it.
Watch on at least 1.25, it sounds completely normal and to be honest more normal than the super slow talking speed
Even 1.5x is reasonable.
I love the dark theme
Great video
Thanks!
it's nice this is a video. but please tell me you have an audio or podcast form.
You can use a lot of online websites to extract the audio of a youtube video.

Highly recommend 1.25x speed everybody
Yep. Pretty much normal speed for the rest of us. Thank you
What is this i thought this is an anime
It's a tabletop roleplaying game (like D&D but different)
