This guitar sounds a lot like Bernie Marsden's Beast. Not all 50's Pauls sound this good.. Super hollow woody tone with ballsy low end and snarling highs. It "howls and growls" when he does bends. Just Amazing!!!
This guy is good at providing an accurate Koss tribute...he's milking that guitar for everything it's worth - but no wasted notes or "gimmick playing" for speed. Great vibrato...
Great job Phil!!!i really enjoyed that. You come real close to Kossoff’s intensity which is sooooo difficult.I think paul was the most intense les paul player
lol Damn it! I just came across this video and that's the FIRST thing I thought of. I was gonna comment but thought 'let's see if anyone else thought that...' Thanks for stealing my thunder John January ;)

These old guys go on like a 59 burst is some kind of magical things, it's a guitar guys. It doesn't make you a better player, it does all the same things a new LP does.
No it doesn't. A custom shop R9 sounds nothing like an original 59 the modern ones sound dead in comparison. Doug and Pat prove this in a video with Simon from Origin effects.
“I am the instrument through which the guitar expresses its self”... That, sir, is one of the most profound and insightful quotes i’ve ever heard! 🙏
Phil was at Kempton park guitar show with his own 59 and he allowed me to have a go with it great bloke .
Some mighty good playing with a special guitar
He's nailed the Koss.
Can tell he's tried hard over the years to get that koss vibrato feel.
Carries it off real well.

Superb!!
Closest I’ve heard for nailing the Kossoff vibrato.

The energetic sound of an intense electric guitar
I spend the day cheering for my friend's music.
Have a nice day friends too.
Thank you 🤠❤☘

Wow! Absolutely fantastic vibrato technique and wonderful playing Phil. True to the song Koss would be proud !
The look on the drummers face a pleasure thanks Wow more please
That thing just gets to your soul
I love that tone...
Wow! This guy can play with feeling!
No - he can’t

Those speed knobs and Rotos on that Lester bring back my youth playing all of those trashy places in NorCal...
This timbre can not die
Tone of the gods
Awesome!!!
Wil Wheaton on drums!
Really? That's Wesley Crusher?

Really enjoyed this, thank you.
Love it.
My God. That guitar sounds amazing and you deffo got so M.J e chops yourself
God damn this guy can play
Tune it!
Awesome 59', I wonder what the weight is...???
Around 9 pounds like every other 50s les Paul
@@joshuahymer15 I was asking about the exact weight, not a guesstimate, many 59's were under 9.0 pounds
It weighs 8.8lbs

Well you hav Koss' tone for sure 5:25 nice :)
not easy sounding like Kossoff playing Peter Greens guitar
geoff mcmahon. shut up idiot. it's kossoff les paul not green's one. and this fat ass can only dream Paul's touch

Thank you for posting this! Does anyone know if Kirk Hammett still owns Greeny?
Watched him play it all night in Dallas recently
@SEI-777 lol of course kirk still owns greeny, thats going to be with kirk for a very long time.
Well shit. Great playing.
Whats the last song played ?
Someone call the fire department ! That dude just burned down the place.
“costowdian” my freaking ass
Nice job boyo, I saw him many times . . But your drummer needs some “Simon” attitude
Fried Okra? What the heck is that.

Someone get these guys a tuner
He bollocks the bass player for tuning then plays out of tune through the first song 😂
BestCanKeanRob2 At 2:20 he turns to the bass player and gruffly says “let’s tune it first!”
Potentially at least a few 100k worth of guitars, but seemingly nobody can afford a tuner...
Is this a real original or a reissue?
The real deal from 59.
Vibrato isn’t there
I'd appreciate this more if the guy was in tune. Its a guitar that represents a piece of Rock N Roll history. Take the time to play in tune. Geez...
translate in english please :P
Tone is great but being out of tune is just ruining this for me
Stick some emg's in it and it may sound good.
Don't spout crap.
Awful and out of tune.....
This is awful. Good anecdotes but the musicianship leaves a great deal to be desired.
You dont know what youre talking about
You're not paying attention are you.
