I like seeing other people work because I feel like I've been making blockprints in a vacuum. Watching UA-cam videos on how to do it is not the same as watching someone randomly do it and seeing their process. It never occurred to me to take a picture of a tote bag and then design based on that. I always get the carving block and then get creative block. And then I make something not very interesting. Thanks for sharing with the world! I definitely want to dry a bigger block soon and make it fit like a puzzle like you made it do
i absolutely adore your videos, i found you a couple of days ago and have binged your whole channel since then 😅💖 i absolutely adore the vlogs you do and how you show the process of something like this! your work with your local community groups is so inspiring to me, even tho i live in norway it’s still super interesting to see what’s available over there! i really hope your channel grows a lot this year, you deserve it! ✨
Hi LTE, I’m a fellow artist (painting drawing, sewing, beading, stamping, carving, ceramics). I just wanted to offer some small advice on the stamping front. I see that you’ve used the pink blocks (which by far are the best - smart choice). In the past I had used a very soft rubber material which tends to crumble and discolour - not good for long term. You might want to invest in a cling mount soft foam sheet that is sticky on one side and clings on the other which goes over your pink carved stamp. Then you could use a clear acrylic block to attach your stamp onto and print more easily.
Great video - I put a towel inside my bag because of other tutorials, but I think your technique is better. The hard surface of the table looks like it helped the stamp make more contact with the fabric.
This is one of the coolest projects I have ever seen! I love the imagery, and as you said uniqueness of each bag. The outcome is gorgeous, and the artistry is amazing. Okay, that's my praise for your cool bags. Good luck at the market!
Awesome design. And this is a verrry simplified video of Lino carving. I hope everyone realizes how much actual work goes into the process. It’s def not as easy as you made it look! They came out SO GOOD!
@@littletinyegg It’s TEDIOUS! And one little slip can “ruin” your piece. I’ve learned to love (and be very adept with a stick pin) super glue! Bravo. Ps. I’d totally rock a Utah tote down here in Houston! 😉
i used a thin kabob stick to make some of my amateur designs on a white sweat suit/(white to symbolize cold, colorless poverty) & regular brown paint from a tiny can/(brown to symbolize the earth i slept on while homeless/hippie)...... i have a yellow sweat suit, too...... some designs on the fabric i xeroxed for my card stock telephone pole flyers. 1 of a kind sweat suits that can't be duplicated for a small clothing business. i was trying to 'live like an Indian' back in Berkeley's canyons with a corduroy loincloth over the sweat suit. the corduroy came from pants ifound in the 'free box' in People's Park. i started liuving like that in 1974, when i was 21. i quit the lifestyle when i turned 65.; winters got too damp! i finally got a small senior housing studio 2-1/2 years ago. HOT showers & my own kitchenette!!!......... i once carved a block print on an old piece of wood, a buffalo head. i used it for a flyer design...... you are lightyears ahead of me with your art & use of computer & tablet! thank you, again!
I completely agree that design even if local oriented still could be popular😁 I would definitely buy this tote bag, also love the idea of multiple stamps 😍
Your totes look great! I've also been seeing more block printing in the world and have been similarly inspired to try it myself--I carved my first block a couple of weeks ago. Now inspired to print on fabric!
Loved the video!! While I super enjoy studio vlogs, I personally really love videos that are specific into one project, I feel like you can learn a lot through seeing a whole process!
wow, they look so good! i could see this being sold in like museum shops as a utah specific art sovenier (like how they often have local artist things in there? at least they do where i live), and if you sell it online you could do designs for different states!
Very much enjoyed the video. I enjoy carving stamps too, it’s so fun. One year I made a set of Donnie Darko themed stamps and used them during Huevember as a theme. Little, did I realize back then that carvedecember was a thing, and I should’ve just done it then. LoL
i've really been enjoying your videos! i've only visited utah (for a rafting trip, even!) and i'm always missing it from the east coast. this tote would be a great souvenir for a visitor like me
great video - very inspiring for future projects - and I Love the tote bag designs so much! absolutely would rock one in PA after my upcoming Utah vacation - so definitely a market outside of hyper local!
wow i loved seeing your process here, it was super informative! i haven’t done block printing since high but i’m interested in trying it out again. you made such an inspiring design :o)
The stamps turned out so well! I love the design. I went on a road trip through Utah and completely fell in love. I believe anyone who feels the same would love to have such a tote bag. I'm currently experimenting with stamps and canvas bags, but I didn't try to make the stamps myself. Maybe I'll give it a shot…
Love the finished product! As a yarn artist, maybe I'll one day try this out too. Also, I was wondering if there was a way to make these bags be washable? Have an amazing day/night!
I LOVE the art for the tote bags. The art style, the look of the cut stamps, the nature theme. I’m not sure I would want the location stamp but then again I love the idea of the Things From This Area art. Not helpful, sorry! I’m happy to see you create it even if I wouldn’t buy it?!
@@littletinyegg That's awesome! I hope it does really well because I think the art here is gorgeous. I'm totally more interested in buying that version, on reflection
Such a cute print! And I loved the process video. I make block prints too and will have to try them on a tote!! Also, I’m not from Utah but I would buy one of those ☺️
Hope these sold out! Thank you for this informative video! I am planning a similar project with my grades 3-5 Art Club for a fundraiser. Expectations are appropriately adjusted :)
Hey, great work! I'm subscribing to your lovely channel. :) May I ask, what kind of ink did you use to print on the fabric? And did you have to treat it after, like in a dryer or something? Thanks!

I feel the same about process videos! Thank you so much- I hope you get to make the block puzzle of your dreams!!
The Utah stamp is cute, like receiving a postcard from a friend in a far away place 😁
Aw I love that so much 🥺

Really love seeing artists work with block printing, not super common and i enjoy this medium as well. Just so cool.
Thank you!
these tote bags look really lovely, fantastic work ☺
Thank you!
Omg. Many thanks for posting this. Learned this years ago and this inspired me to get back into it. Many thanks.
I love these! The woodcut kind of texture looks so good!
thank you so much!
I loved this! Block printing on fabric has 100% come back hard, I work at an art supplies store and our Lino section always has big empty spots

I love the kind of faded look though, it doesn't matter that it's not so much ink there. They turned out so beautiful!
Thank you!
Loved it! I love seeing the process of how you create your art! Have a good weekend! 💞
thanks Whitney!!

This is so useful, I want to do the same thing as well so it's super useful to see and theyre beautiful
I really enjoyed this video! I love mixed media art journaling and stamping is a huge part of it. It was fun watching you make your own stamps.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Ah that’s awesome!! I love this block printing resurgence we’re having!
For a moment while she was putting ink on the block I was like "HATU" huh must be a local greeting.... hahahahha

I love it, and I am local, but I loved it before I realized they were all Utah related, so I think that says something to its universal attractiveness
Oh yay I love that, thank you!
im from the uk and i love these tote bags i would get one if i was there XD
Would make a great souvenir! 🌷

This could be a new side hustle for you. You could make themed bags and or create the stamps for ppl to purchase.

I just used speedball fabric ink! It doesn't need to be heat set!

Literally the cutest username ever I’m gonna scream
Does the ink run if washed?
no it is waterproof!
how long will the ink stay on the fabric?
it is permanent!
