I think bigger cuttings take longer to develop new growth because it is harder to keep all the leaves healthy while the plant doesn't have a lot of healthy roots just yet :)
yeah...seems that way doesn't it... taking up more energy to maintain. I guess thats why I see some people taking off some of the leaves when they are propagating.
Great to see your process. Mine is growing well in sphagnum moss in a terra-cotta pot with orchid holes (not watering it very often). It seems to like light organic fertilizer since it’s growing fairly fast.
Hi there! Thank you for your informative video! I recently ordered a cutting from Etsy with no visible nodes :( do you think roots will grow from the stem? Also with your semi hydro set up, what nutrients are you using? A video on that would be great! Happy growing :)
the nodes are where the leaves come out of and yes, the roots will come out from the stem. as for nutrients, i have only been using the liquid fertilizers I have on hand. I will do a video once I have used up all my supplies, i just have too much clutter right now. I recommend watching this video as a lot of people use this type of nutrient! Very informative video, like it a lot. That is great that the growth happened after only 10 days. I need to check your semi hydro video. Currently I am interested in self watering and semi hydro and had success with self watering but need to learn more about semi hydro. Do you ever let the reservoir completely emptied before filling it in?
I have actually, the heat mats dry them out quite quickly. I don't advice that. I think checking is every 4 days is good with the heat mat. I am still trying to figure what works for me.

someone on Etsy should start selling clear jars with holes already drilled for semi-hydro. I have some cuttings in leca in jars but no holes in the jar so I'm baffled as to how to maintain the moisture in the upper beads. The lower beads are wet from the inch of water but the upper beads all seem dry.
yeah! that would be really nice. I have also thought about designing some ceramic pots just for semi-hydro as well. When the top balls dry, i just wet them again and pour out the excess water. so kinda of giving them a flush. I think the key is to start with well soaked leca balls, i have started with ones that i didn't soak inadvance and they obv dry a lot faster. When you start with well soaked leca, capillary action is more likely to take place, keeping the leca moist longer. Hope that helps.
