Welcome to Billy Strings!!! Truly gifted guy.can play banko well, also...check out the utube of he and his dad performing. He learned from his dad. So talent came down the family tree. Billy is his first name.strings is a nickname he was given ( you might understand why) and it stuck. He is one talented guy, I love bluegrass period, he is under 30. He can only improve. He writes his own songs too
Billy strings is a true talent. I would recommend listening to away from the mire. Or his new single wargasm. He is the only artist I ever fought to find all albums on vinyl. This whole band has changed my life. Coming from a true death core metal dude.
Just popping back in to say that Billy Strings will be playing the Grammy's this Saturday April 3rd and is also up for 2 Grammy's, Best album "Renewal" and Performance for "Love and Regret". Thought you might like to know.
What you just saw was virtuoso performances on the banjo and mandolin, and then a mind-melting solo that is a combination of blue-grass and heavy metal. This style that Billy Strings is introducing is as revolutionary as it gets, in the music world. Your reaction, as favorable as it was, should have been far more impressed. This isn't just "good"...this is truly phenomenal musicianship, at all levels.
Billy Strings is the future!! Very welcomed in the jam scene too with his love of The Grateful Dead and Phish. He collaborates with Everyone and is an absolute force and he's only 28!! He's a beast of a performer!! Check out Dust in a Baggie on his couch
I've been around this type music all my life - since childhood. Billy Strings is in my top 3 flat pickers of all time. Very few guitarists can pick this style at this high a level. Billy doesn't miss a note... simply pure talent this young man has. It's like he made a deal with the devil to be that good... 😎 Nothing else can explain it.
Love this song. Dust in a baggie for sure is a must listen. To have been able to see Roy Clark and Billy Strings play together would have been awesome!! RIP Roy Clark
The breaks(solos) can be somewhat planned out from habit of playing the same songs over and over. However, he often likes to improv his breaks and extend them out for minutes at a time.
If you have a chance to see Billy Strings live, DO IT! The energy and dancing at the shows is second to none! Check out their new video for Thunder! Cheers DeadHeads n BillyGoats
Please do dust in a baggie. But the old one with guy in the green shirt in the back. He could be the best flat picker ever i think his guitar skills are better represented in this version it's house party and it's just him playing
Can you imagine if Bill brought that guy on tour with him, just to stand to the side and groove? Even just for one show. The audience would would love it.
He is the guy with the glasses his talent is a gift. He won his first Grammy Dust In A Baggy on the Grand Ol Opry last yr. Takes bluegrass to a new level. This is live and with all live shows they are well rehersed. This song is genius!!
Every time he plays it's different, he is totally amazing. Billy Strings saved my life seriously, got into his music at a bad period in my life and getting on board with the Billy goat has put me on the right path. Watch as many as you can he will blow your mind
It's always entertaining seeing people try to figure out what the mandolin is, only because I grew up in central Pennsylvania and it's pretty common there. I think you have become my favorite reaction channel. A lot of variety, but you have an incredible ear for good music, regardless of genre. Which I love, bc I listen to so many different genres myself and wish more ppl I knew did.
He is Billy Strings. he is the face of what New Grass will be for the foreseen future. And yes he improvises his solos. And he didn't "end" the song, he broke up the measures to create the tension.
That smile he has while watching billy do his thing. Is what every one needs in their life today, we all need music that can get us smiling like this love you billy
I have been listening to bluegrass for 40 years. When I watch Billy I often have to pick my chin up off the table. Few compare to his level of talent. And as noted my MrL. his energy is thru the roof.
Billy is amazing, he is an old soul in a young man's body. He is probably the best acoustic guitar picker on the planet right now. The instrument you asked about is called a mandolin. It is an American instrument that has evolved through Scotch-Irish folk music and Appalachian mountain music. He is a great performer with a mesmerizing voice and a wealth of knowledge of old American folk and bluegrass music.
Go to a Billy strings concert and you will definitely see them jam out to all their songs and you will have a psychedelic experience like you've never had before
Hey, buddy! Enjoyed your review! Billy strings is my favorite artist, and he’s coming to my town during Halloween weekend. The instrument your were inquiring about is a mandolin, it’s found in all of bluegrass. Have a good weekend.
Billy is just GETTIN STARTED 👍😁MAN😎! Tune into his music 🎶 and you WILL be BLOWN AWAY WITH THE LEVEL OF TALENT this young man poseses of that you can be sure 😏
He uses the stage name of Billy strings. He used to be a solo act. He got a band, recorded the album this song is on with this band. So yes, it's only his name but also the bands now.
Oh good, you’re doing Billy Strings, yes, Dust in a Baggie is awesome, from the grand ol opry. But since you’re on this I’d recommend Marcus King, Wild Flowers and Wine. Amazing singer and amazing guitar player
You should watch his cover of Dylans song Don't think twice. Most people who play guitar are ready to throw it out once they watch it. This guy is a complete master at what he does.
@@rafatopolski7628 I just thought it was funny, I saw your comment looked it up, and saw the same joke. i have heard it before as well, Just an interesting coincidence.
his song Watch It Fall will bring you to tears! EDIT: im sure someone else has already answered this, but that instrument you're pondering is the Mandolin, the successor to the olde english instrument, the Lute. A staple in Bluegrass (my dad played banjo in his bluegrass band).
Billy is the glasses dude .. his 2022 live at red rocks that came out a couple months ago is the best music i heard in a long time, truly a young living legend . "Giving birth to him and the guitar" ..lmao !!
Not only one of the best singer songwriters imo but probably the best picker. He is the improv king. He has so much fun with it. Brings alot fire to it and never misses a note
I've been following you for a few months, and you just happened to cover one of my favorite songs right now. Billy is awesomely talented, and you would be doing yourself a favor by reading more. Keep up the interesting content.
Same ...honestly I got sucked in watching Tom Macdonald reactions and have been waiting for some of my new favorite reaction channels to check out Billy Strings
I live in the North Georgia Mountains 2 miles from Tennessee and blue grass will get any of us doing an old fashioned jig that has Scottish and Irish roots. They settled this area. Love this stuff cant get enough of it! This kinda music is the representation of this mountain region. We have festivals celebrating it where u see old timers traditionally jigging on 4 x4 pieces of hardwood floor on the sidewalk. Love this stuff!
That little guitar like instrument is called a mandolin.
Indeed! In the non-drum band context, this wonderful instrument often plays the role of the snare drum.

Because it will slice your knuckles like a French chef.
I've never met anyone who isn't aware of the Mandolin!
and they're everywhere lol...
Billy Strings is out of this world. React to Dust in a baggie by the same artist.
Yeah but do the version where he's on the couch
Yep, that’s the best Version IMO.
That version really shows who he is!
Yes, and has been viewed over 17 million times!

Away from the mire the live version from 2 months ago will melt your heart . Y’all please run this up so he will see it
Billy strings is a true talent. I would recommend listening to away from the mire. Or his new single wargasm. He is the only artist I ever fought to find all albums on vinyl. This whole band has changed my life. Coming from a true death core metal dude.

He's a cross of Doc Watson and Dimebag Darrell. He is Amazing. I love how you React to many different genres. Thanks!!!
That is a beautiful "F" bodied mandolin.
Also, I laughed pretty good about his mom giving birth to him and the guitar.

“Solid” performance????? “SOLID”??!? Bro he’s like a Mozart of our time that musicianship was absurd!
Everyone saying dust in a baggie, so I’m gonna say do “Meet Me At the Creek”
everyone calls for dust in a baggie but the real song is meet me at the creek real billy fans would know this

Billy improvises a bunch. He’s masterful at it. I couldn’t recommend going to a show of his enough. He’s my favorite artist right now hands down
Welcome to Billy's world. Meet me at the creek is an absolute must,!!
These guys are like 'Heavy Metal Blue Grass' - they're doing new and creative things with the sounds
This is 100% not my type of music but the musicianship is off the charts here!!
Check out Away with the Mire, he runs a electric guitar setup with his acoustic.
