Hi Gabriel. If you go on to Cape Town, during the "Season" you can take a day flight down to Antarctica on White Desert Adventures. Welcome to South Africa !!
Two comments: YES, a truly great snack box actually one of the best I have seen. Second, I CAN NOT believe the size of sprawling JO-BURG. I too really like the Embraer 145RJ. It is the largest of the group of three and kind of makes me feel like it is my private jet. Thanks - Jim
Ok Chief l am glad you enjoyed the Fastjet experience from the Zim side of Vic Falls to Jozi. To answer your questions about the 2 x Airbus A 340's you see there. They are owned by Global Airways and they are for Lease (ACMI).
I believe those are 3 x A340-500's ex Emirates, now owned by Global Aviation Services. They have been parked at JNB for many years and are very unlikely to fly again in my opinion.
Those are South African Airways A340-600's, but a few of them were sold to an American company, but most of them are still owned by SAA and are in storage. I hope the return some of them to service, it is one of my favorite aircraft.
Didn't you guys talk about those A340s on the podcast last year or so? I remember something about them originally being delivered to somewhere like Uzbekistan, then they would squawk somewhere above Iran and land there, be declared lost, and that's the end of the story...
The phone next to your headrest... for cabin crew to report to pilots what the engine is looking like if something goes wrong? Is there another phone on the opposite side?
The A340s were previously owned by Turkish Airlines. They were mothballed at OR Tambo airport for a while then flown to Iran. They are now in operation with Iran Air. I tracked their flight on FlightRadar 24 earlier this year. In Africa, most airlines offer a meal/snack. The tickets are really highly-priced anyway (even for "low-cost carriers") and it is only fair that the airlines offer passengers "complimentary snacks". If you do not mind disclosing, how much did you pay for the 90-minute flight from Victoria Falls to O.R Tambo? Fastjet started its African chapter in Tanzania but pulled out of that market after operating for a couple of years.
The fully flex fare on this was $245 USD (needed something flexible because changing was likely). That seemed like a very fair price! Here in Europe airlines will gladly charge you $500 then an extra $6 for water onboard 😂
I used fast jet 2 times from Harare to jhb south Africa i love their service but they're currently enjoy the monopoly on this route their prices are too much
7:03 massive city? not so massive. Fastjet is an awesome low cost airline. Great review. 9:26 why's there a house with burglar bars in the middle of the airfield?
@@airedition not a chance. Johannesburg by land mass is nowhere near 14th position. In any case I was talking about the buildings at the time stamp and how narrator said it's a "massive city". United Nations puts Johannesburg in 73rd place out of 81. And it doesn't appear on the lists of Arch daily or luxatic. In any case coming out at 14th place can't be considered amazing by any stretch of the imagination.
Those A340-500 are owned by Global Aviation, an aircraft leasing company
Gabriel. Thank you. Well done much appreciated
Thank you!
What a great airline! I don’t get that many snacks on a 2 hr flight in Delta comfort plus!

ERJ - 145 engine sound is the GOAT! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Thanks for the comment!
Hi Gabe, I enjoyed the flight; thank you for inviting your subscribers to come along for the ride. RogerC 8/4/23
Wonderful, peaceful flight. ✈️ Thanks 🌱
Waal what a pleasant journey indeed
I know I flew fastjet in March to vicfalls and back and was surprised with their smooth service and sailing 4 a small aircraft like that
What a brilliant little airline. Loved the "low cost" inflight catering!! Not so low cost! Did you not get to fly on Air Zimbabwe's 737?????
Not on this trip! But still trying! (It seems to now be undergoing heavy maintenance)
@@airedition The elusive Boeing 737!!!!
😂❤
Air Zimbabwe aircrafts are currently grounded
@@Biganeworldwide sadly...
O.R. Tambo is a beautiful Airport, I went there in May! Anyway, great video!
Anything free these days is a BONUS
Fantastic video man!
Thanks a ton!
So, the seat didn't recline, but at least you had a personal telephone to order food and drinks. 😂

Wow a very cool aircraft

Correct, and yes probably true about the not flying! Sad. If only I could afford to buy one hehe.

considering they are 500s i dont think this is correct.
@@Spudandrowback7DYour right, I didn't realize they were 500s, I just look it up they might be owned by Global Aviation.
Guys right now there is an Hot Air Ballon flying in Finland and it's tracked by satellite!!!
Your flights are great and it makes it seem like all is right with the world looking down from the sky but it is a nice respite nonetheless. Thanks.
Welcome to Johannesburg
Thanks for mentioning me at the end there 🤣🤣
Great video! What are those A340s doing there? I was at OR tambo last December and they are still there
🎉first to comment ..kudos to that engine roar ❤
Last time I had flown FastJet, they had there A320. I'm not sure what happened to it.
Didn't you guys talk about those A340s on the podcast last year or so? I remember something about them originally being delivered to somewhere like Uzbekistan, then they would squawk somewhere above Iran and land there, be declared lost, and that's the end of the story...
Different set of A340s! But yes, those other ones were discussed on the podcast, indeed.
👏 🇿🇼
how was the smell up back there in last row next to the Toilett ?
Thanks for a nice video! I also wonder about the three a340 parked at JNB having transfered JNB a few times recently. Could it be from South African?
they are 500s so no

@@Flightradar24DotCom $245 for a 90-minute flight on a LCC. Is the $500 price quoted in Europe on a FSC?
Iran Air doesn't fly A340s. These are A340-500s, which Turkish Airlines never operated.

@@clearingrubble Right, these are different A340s than the ones @sebinamuwanga has in mind. These remain at OR Tambo, not in Iran.

How is the flight OR T to Joshua mqabuko airport Bulawayo
HiFly's A340s? Flights to Antartica
Are those the "missing" A340's that were going to Iran last year?
no
How much is it from South Africa to Zimbabwe

Never been there but I think that's where they put "unruly" passengers.
It's the 14th largest city by area in the world, and 28th by population. To me that certainly qualifies as massive.
