Hey Brandon I feel like ... I'd like to get to know you a little more. There was a personal candor to your Florida -> New York one that I've missed in the last few. Still stunning but ... it could be more? Maybe, idk, some pieces to camera wrapped on each side with your cinematic footage. I really don't know, just spitballing. You're definitely the most *beautiful* vlogger in my list, just wonder if you can add some more weight. Also, a regular(ish) posting schedule would be good, even if just 1x a week. I know these things take on a life of their own however. Anyway I guess you're still finding your feet too. As long as you keep posting I'll keep watching.
Brandon, your videos are AMAZING. This has some of the best cinematography and editing I've ever seen on youtube. Based on the small amount of videos you have, you have a TON of followers. Many people will upload 4-5 times that amount and still only have 2-3 thousand, which speaks for the quality of your videos. Speaking of which, you should/need to upload more! You would gain a much larger following: however, your quality is amazing so I'm assuming it took you forever to make this, as well as the transitions. You JUST posted this, so if you see this, remember me when this gets a million views please. I promise it'll get at least half that!
withaminutetogo Cool, good ideas and thanks for the feedback! I'm brand new to UA-cam storytelling so I'll figure stuff out as I go along and hopefully keep getting better.
I always thought Mexico would be a fantastic place to visit, but you make it look so much more inviting and vibrant. The food, the beach, the culture... Mexico here I come!
I have to say that i am a professional editor/filmmaker for 15 years now and every time I see one of your videos i learn something ! and I love to learn things. And this is not about technique, this is about creativity and feeling ! Congrats man !
Brings me back to my surfing days down Baja and long boat rides to todos Santos island for surf and fishing. Thanks for bringing me back in a beautiful and special display of Mexico and it’s people! Incredible cinematography. Stunning.
I like how you are constantly surprising me in this video. This is one of the great things that you do that makes you stand out from a sea of other skilled filmmakers. A perfect shot to exemplify exactly what I'm talking about is one of the very last ones: the clink of the bottles at 4:04 Thank you for this inspiration!
Yes, I've been following him for many years even before he became youtube famous...apples to oranges comparison I guess. Maybe it's because too many youtubers are copying his style now that it has caused me to not get into his videos as much as I used to. He was certainly a game changer though, I'll give him that. Speaking of travel, have you ever checked out Kylie Flavell and her work? Great style and attitude.
The story telling, camera work, music, atmosphere, and feel really gave me a smile! I'm loving these short form vlogs, they're full of character and it's making me want to create short vlogs myself!
Ugh dude if I can only explain to you the type of feeling I get by watching your videos.. this is true art. I feel an amazing sensation rushing throughout my body. This is so beautiful.
Now thats a travel vlog! You managed to capture a tourists perspective of the heart and soul of pacific Mexico making it feel like this nostalgic memory for the viewer. Hope the trip was as much fun as watching this video was!
The editing has left me speechless only because I've been made breathless to how well the camera shots assisted the story, AMAZING! BEAUTIFUL! Brandon truly captured everything that he he was meant to! I mean the whole vibe, and the feelings that come with it, i felt like I don't even need to go Mexico, as I feel Brandon has already taken me there on this journey with him!
Probably really irrelevant to what everyone else is saying but i'm really happy that you were able to share this experience with us. I am not from Mexico but I've been living here for a very long time and I really admire how nicely you were able to put this together and present it in such an awesome way. Thank you so much for this! -saludos desde Mexico
Working on getting a bigger audience as we all are..I guess I should collab with some bigger YT people. Or maybe I can make a Cinematic Twerk Fails Compilation lol
Brandon Li I'm all for people looking to get more views, but many more creative deserving people go unnoticed because they may not know how to work the algorithm game of youtube. Looking forward to your cinematic twerk videos!
Damn, you are KILLING IT with these vlogs. You've taken it to another level when it comes to editing and attention to detail. Beats watching vloggers just looking into the camera and talking about nothing. Thanks for the journey.
at 2:32, he jumps in the water and the audio/music even changes to a distorted tone...then reverts back to normal when he comes up. Such attention to detail!
People nowadays are more interested in pushing content out daily that the quality of work on youtube is being degraded. Tired of plain selfies and talking. Love how much thought, detail, and overall work is put into this type of vlog. Keep it up!
Beautiful scenery in Mexico and great back and forth between aerial and ground levels. Definitely dramatic and cinematic storytelling. Location choices are excellent. Awesome!
So great to see one of my favorite places on the planet. Baja Sur esta primera! I spend a month or so each year in the small village of La Ventana 45 minutes south of La Paz. Your video made me smile as I recognized my favorite places and experiences. Thanks!
What I find amazing is that you artistically capture your travels in an engaging way that keeps the viewer updated on your life and also generates interest in your destinations. I now want to travel to the locations you've captured, not because you've shown everything to experience, but because you've created a trailer for our own experiences on the trip. Love your work! Inspires me to see my travels from a unique perspective. Thank you for all of your advice/tutorials and happy travels!
I seriously can't get enough of your cinematic vlogs. They are by far my favorite types of vlogs on youtube. Main reason I picked up a camera to start my own. Thanks for this.
I feel like you've made that "Every Wednesday" iPad Pro ad that Apple has on their channel. So amazing to see something like that, that is not an advertisement but true art.
Ok, the transition from the palm tree to and upside down reflection of a palm tree in the pool is possibly the cleverest use of imagination I've seen in a good long time; I literally laughed out loud and stopped to write this.
people tend to talk about things they know or can relate to... camera ect... you are blessed to see feel, touch places we wish we could go to see... so it a Lil hard to talk about something I have no idea about... but that's why I watch.. sorry 🙏 about all the tech questions... keep up the good work
Patrick Levar Feel free to ask tech questions on the tech videos..but I'm just trying to take a break from tech answers on the vlogs. I think whale sharks and epic travels are more important.
Also love the little touches such as the speed ramping light flare in the church scene and the audio effect during the whale shark diving! Really awesome stuff!
Yeah a lot of people are asking about transitions tutorials..not sure I want to divulge everything. What's funny is I've received exactly 0 questions so far about, you know...travel..or Mexico..
Problem is that your technical and creative talent outshines your narrative storytelling abilities. Hardest question to ask yourself when producing traditional content is: why should we care? I really didn't on any emotional level (sorry) but was blown away by your style and technical talent. Figure out how to improve your content and storytelling and you'll be crushing it on all levels. Compel us with more than just images and style and you'll be playing on a whole other level. It's a small shift, but one that will change the game for you. Keep it up! Amazing work.
THIS IS WHAT IM LOOKING FOR! I'm going to Thailand in a few weeks (First time out of the country) and I want every moment I capture to be like no other. I want to show my experience there having anyone viewing it in awe the whole time. I want to show them this trip as if they were there them selfs, seeing things for the first time as of I did. I'm going to study this and implant my style of filming to it too. Great vid
This is honestly so refreshing to see, I wanted to watch more, the whole pace of it made me want to visit the places you did, it's so true what you mentioned about pace in your other videos and how important it really is... Mexico looks wonderful! I can see where a lot of UA-camrs get their inspiration from too! I look forward to more of your videos and updates.
This just made my day. Woke up tired and mad. Watched your video and now I'm having the best af days! Mexico looks amazing! - Got to go there some day.
The way you use sound is like no other, it REALLY puts me as the viewer even more fully immersed in the experience. Incredibly inspiring work and I'm excited to keep following your adventures!
I started following you about a month ago. I'm amazed! So inspiring. I just got The A7SII last month, and I look forward to implementing what I have learned by watching you. You have an incredible gift, sir!
Every single video you make inspires me in a different way. I may have said this before but you need to hear it again, you are genius and I'm in love with your videos.
Brandon I drove down Baja a couple weeks ago to visit the Catavina desert area and got to witness a super bloom of colorful wild flowers. You should put that area on your wish list too.
Finally a travel video with an actual story! I see so many "pretty" looking videos, but that's all it is, nicely shot and graded video with pretty images but none of them have ever told a story, I hate that! I'm so glad I found you recently cause you can actually show and tell a story unlike a lot of UA-camrs that are really famous but lack story, originality, and personality
Thanks, most of my inspiration comes from other places than UA-cam. I don't really think of YT as a filmmaking platform..more of a platform for on-camera personalities.
Capturing our Mother nature , seeing it through another's point of view is usually interesting. This my friend was lovely. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Your videos are just mesmerizing. Beautiful cinematography, hope to see more of them! In the meanwhile, I'll be re-watching these :D Cheers from Belgium
breath taking video love every single detail but I just love how you tell the story it flows so that you can't stop watching. thanks for the inpiration
I generally never "like" videos, because usually the people I follow are already famous and don't need it. I'm personally going to make the exception and try to like/share your videos as much as I can. You deserve it. Thanks for the content Brandon!
i know im 3 years late but those transitions are incredible. i wish actual films could employ more transitions like that. not the WHIP BLUR or CAMERA FLIP transitions, i mean the more subtle ones like the palm tree reflection- or even the guy riding in the car and then going to a scene in the desert. They're so seamless and could tell a story in a really interesting way. also that sequence of shots starting 0:50 - 0:55 of her standing in the water and then racking focus from her face to the waves was beautiful
I found you through gear reviews but your work has really inspired Brandon. I feel your work encapsulates, and perhaps re-defines, a new and beautifully efficient film making practice that might have been facilitated by changes in tech, but, at it's best, is not defined by it. Your editing is very refined and gut felt, playful and powerful. It transcends the equipment as it does the mundane. The shots are stunning but its your cinematic language that excites me. You speak it well. Thanks
Hey Brandon, I just discovered you in the last few days. I can see that I have a lot to learn about editing and cinematography. Very cool videos my friend. Thank You so much!
the camera movement and transitions are so slick. If only people could comprehend how much work it took..crazzy.
So good man! Love the storytelling
Yep. Li it's a genius in travel films 🎥 Not sure if I could employ any of his techniques in weedings, but for any other video 📹 definitely.
Idol commenting on another idol! You guys are the beast
Look who is here. All big guns in a same place. You guys are making 'learning' so easy and exciting for newcomers like me. 👍
I'd really appreciate a comment about something other than camera gear and transitions, thanks! Mexico is kinda interesting too!
Hey Brandon
I feel like ...

You JUST posted this, so if you see this, remember me when this gets a million views please. I promise it'll get at least half that!
I agree. There's some kind of spirit that isn't just there yet, but he'll probably find it.
withaminutetogo Cool, good ideas and thanks for the feedback! I'm brand new to UA-cam storytelling so I'll figure stuff out as I go along and hopefully keep getting better.
Brandon Li absolutely! Your at a very, very good starting point. Can't think of anybody's videos that are so good, so early on in their UA-cam career
What attracts me the most is the momentum the music brings to me, it really gets me inside the film. It's also a wonderful way to tell a story.
This is what you call originality. Quality over quantity is my choice every time.
Cian Hamilton thanks that's what I think too
I always thought Mexico would be a fantastic place to visit, but you make it look so much more inviting and vibrant.
Stunning.
What did I just watch, that was totally amazing! The mastery of this like when the music matched tonality to the underwaterscape!
I like how you are constantly surprising me in this video. This is one of the great things that you do that makes you stand out from a sea of other skilled filmmakers.
A perfect shot to exemplify exactly what I'm talking about is one of the very last ones: the clink of the bottles at 4:04
Thank you for this inspiration!
Your vlogs make casey neistat look like my old uncle filming a road trip verticaly with an Iphone
That was so rude but it is true, I agree!... :)
Pedro Cardoso You got that right! This is next level.
Casey's got a great "attitude" or presence though..so he's a celebrity. I'm mostly behind the camera :-)
Yes, I've been following him for many years even before he became youtube famous...apples to oranges comparison I guess. Maybe it's because too many youtubers are copying his style now that it has caused me to not get into his videos as much as I used to. He was certainly a game changer though, I'll give him that. Brandon Lee, master of Transition-Fu :-) Love the palm-tree/reflection one!
Thanks Jon!

I am not from Mexico but I've been living here for a very long time and I really admire how nicely you were able to put this together and present it in such an awesome way. The only thing more astounding than your videos is the fact you only have 11K followers. Can't overstate the inspiration these vlogs give me.
Jerrod K. Popham I agree...unfortunately youtube is filled with fake pranks, drama and political nonsense that get all the views and subscribers.
Thanks Allen! I'm thinking of it as just another kind of short film - maybe travelogue is a more appropriate term than vlog.
Works for me!
at 2:32, he jumps in the water and the audio/music even changes to a distorted tone...then reverts back to normal when he comes up. Such attention to detail!
I love this part too.

Love what you did to the music when going underwater.
Wow! I know nothing about video making and stuff but even I can see how original and talented this video is made! Bravo!!!

The sound, the shots, the transitions, the music, I just love all your videos!
The skill and creativity here blew my mind!
Brandon Li & Ben Blenner.. my new cinematography heroes. Love your work, keep it up!
I discovered benblenner thanks to you, tks !
I'll have to check out Blenner
and even sam kolder.
Wow. Just amazing. From the story telling to the transitions, to the technical details. All thoughtfully laid out!
Brandon Lee you are freaking amazing thank you for everything that you do for the filmmaking community we love you
Brandon you inspire me everyday. My greatest dream is to have half of your skills and talent.
same here! :)
In awe at how amazing this style is.
I seriously can't get enough of your cinematic vlogs. They are by far my favorite types of vlogs on youtube. Main reason I picked up a camera to start my own. Thanks for this.
Even they way you filtered the music to match your dive under water....
Mexico looks so beautiful. And that tortilla making business was rad. I've never seen it done before.
the more i watch your videos the more i believe that there is alot more to learn
You are literally killing the vlog game. This stuff is just incredible
what a good visual masterpiece
I feel like you've made that "Every Wednesday" iPad Pro ad that Apple has on their channel. So amazing to see something like that, that is not an advertisement but true art.

Man! I have no words to describe how you did your vlog. Your work is an inspiration. Thank you so much.
These Vlogs are absolutely incredible man, keep up the great work!
Also love the little touches such as the speed ramping light flare in the church scene and the audio effect during the whale shark diving! Really awesome stuff!
The sound design and transitions always amaze me...........maybe you should do a tutorial on the transitions.... :)
Yeah a lot of people are asking about transitions tutorials..not sure I want to divulge everything. What's funny is I've received exactly 0 questions so far about, you know...travel..or Mexico..
Brandon Li haha well you distracted everyone with the transitions! And i think everyone here hope all went well!
James Youssef yeah the trip was great! Highly recommend
Brandon Li looked like a lot of fun! Do you ever see yourself coming up to the Pacific Northwest?
Problem is that your technical and creative talent outshines your narrative storytelling abilities. Hardest question to ask yourself when producing traditional content is: why should we care? Your speciality of able to depict a story in a b roll is class apart. I learn something new every time I look at your channel.

Brandon this was one of the most incredible videos I have ever seen! This is the type of stuff I want to do with my life right now. Amazing.
editing level through the roof
This just made my day.

Master Li! Great video and storytelling!
Cinematography is amazing. I was drawn to the video immediately and your cinematic story telling pulls me in further. Instant fan here.

Dude your work is absolutely incredible! Your ability to tell a story with your editing style... Amazing man!
Brandon I drove down Baja a couple weeks ago to visit the Catavina desert area and got to witness a super bloom of colorful wild flowers. You should put that area on your wish list too.

Such a pleasure to watch these cinematic vlogs!

Capturing our Mother nature , seeing it through another's point of view is usually interesting. This my friend was lovely. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Awesome Brandon..Please do that tutorial you mentioned on how to achieve your swipes with masking in FCPX 10.3...tnx
Definitely!
Chris Cheek oh yes Brandon
1+ for those swipe tutorials. Your channel is my number one site. I love your editing/filming style.

Speechless!!!! Brandon, I will follow you and your amazing talent until the end!
Always looking forward to your videos Brandon!
I generally never "like" videos, because usually the people I follow are already famous and don't need it. I'm personally going to make the exception and try to like/share your videos as much as I can. You deserve it. Thanks for the content Brandon!
dadoeboi101 Appreciate it!
Dude, I am seriously inspired by your work. The way you capture moments and tell the story is incredible. I hope to be as good as you soon.
I could watch this with my eyes closed. The sound was on point!
itscdefg thanks, hope you tried using headphones!
i know im 3 years late but those transitions are incredible. i wish actual films could employ more transitions like that. not the WHIP BLUR or CAMERA FLIP transitions, i mean the more subtle ones like the palm tree reflection- or even the guy riding in the car and then going to a scene in the desert. also that sequence of shots starting 0:50 - 0:55 of her standing in the water and then racking focus from her face to the waves was beautiful
Narrative was a joy to listen to. Pacing superb. Love the oriental style music too!
Thank you for sharing your work with us.
I found you through gear reviews but your work has really inspired Brandon. Beautiful places, shot to perfection.. absolutely love this
much appreciated!
Hey Brandon, I just discovered you in the last few days. I can see that I have a lot to learn about editing and cinematography. Very cool videos my friend. Thank You so much!
The way you tell a story is breathtaking. Keep it up man. Inspiring stuff.
the way you sync the background sound with the scene is really an eye opening! hope to reach this kind of level one day
Nice to see, how you enjoy your life! Seeing new places, as a filmmaker ist a great thing. Keep it up!
