One question, that means is not a serious problem?
@@IkelosEU no it’s just a Ny State inspection thing
@@IkelosEU Not a serious problem. But if left unchecked and unsolved for too long it could slowly cause more damage to the vehicle.
Replacing the purge canister valve is a relatively easy thing to do and costs under $30 for the part.
Purge solenoid? Who needs one of those. Deleted.
One of the few videos online that do voltage drop testing which is the right thing!
This vid helped me out to confirm it's my solenoid. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much for this detailed video🙏🏻. I do have a question. I'm working on a 2007 Ford Freestyle and has a check engine light (code p1450, p0451). FYI, I have checked ALL the hoses, Vent solenoid, REPLACES/NEW purge Solenoid, charcoal canister...and they are all in good shape and tested good off the car with NO ISSUES. However, the ONLY thing i found was, for some strange reason I do "NOT" get constant +12v to purge solenoid (engine cold with no key in ignition) as you demonstrated, but I do get +12v to vent solenoid near charcoal canister near the gas tank). The voltage on my meter constantly in small increments changes rapidly no more than 1v to 1 of the 2 wires(i even test the wire 2 inches blow the connector and still the same). So I checked the fuse box, the wires, and contectore....fund NO PROBLEM ANYWHERE, not sure why I'm not getting constant +12v to purge solenoid in engine area like your diagram.
1. Does the ignition key has to be on, or engine needs to be warm/running...to get 12v to Purge Solenoid +wire? (the rear vent solenoid gets +12v constantly, key or no key, warm or cold)
2. can I run a +12v direct wire from the fuse box to the +wire to the purge Solenoid (rewire)and just cut the one that's not getting any voltage since the ECU sends the _negative signal? (not sure exactly which wire is the + and which wire is the _ wires tho, since I have no wiring schematics, I'm just assuming the wire that keeps fluctuating very small amt of voltage is the + wire, but not 100% sure, is there a way I can test the _ wire from the ECU with a regular meter be sure?)
PLEASE HELP🙏🏻🙏🏻,Thx
Does reving the engine do the same thing as increasing the duty cycle with the interactive scan tool?

Wow I was just looking at that the other day while doing plug wires and wondering what that was thank you
Anytime Glen! Happy to help!
Do you have to have a scanner to test ground to Purge valve circuit.
Really great helpful video thanks for you shearing this video
hello good morning I have a 2014 jeep cherokee and when I open the hood I heard a knock and it is that valve that grabs that noise before it did not and I do not know if it is normal
Any idea i have two codes (p0403and p0443 on ford explorer 2009 4.0 v6 are they related ? I cleaned the egr and throttle not fixed im assuming by replacing the evap solonoid will fix the egr right ?
I get ch engine light once in a couple of months give or take, engine runs perfect. Dash code was evap icon but no actual code Orielys did the test. I just disconect battery and everything is fine again. Guess i will change the evap sol on the engine
Do I just remove and replace the part? Do I have to depressurize and bleed the tube doing to it?
Will the autel mx808 scanner command the PCM like you did
I like this video! Mine did say circuit open on a 2013 sonic. Assumining same thing p0444
Great video, more like this please.....thank you

I have a 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder. The voltage between the two terminals of the connector to the purge solenoid when it's OFF is about 3 volts and when it's ON is about 6 volts (engine OFF and key in ON position). Instead of one loud clean click and stay on, it's constantly switching on an off really fast after being turned on. Are those normal reading and behavior? The vent solenoid is 0 volt when OFF and over 12 volts when ON.
I didn't do all that but for the price of the solenoids I just replaced all 3. Code came back and there is a squealing noise at the back of the drivers side and then my idle begins to drop and flutter. Replaced the purge valve back there but the squeal when I come to a stop and the idle drop continues. Any thoughts?
Alrighty then !!! Great video once again !!! 👍😎

Can this cause a car to rough idle when it hits half a tank.I have a 91 Honda Civic.I changed the fuel pump but the car idles rough when I get to half a tank. Thanks 👍
My car has a bad purge valve right now. Multiple evap codes 02 codes as well. Its having a tough time accelerating only sometimes for some reason. Had low voltage on the valve but the valve still works I guess. Not sure how what I need to do. Kinda sucks it's confusing. 3.4 ohms on purge valve
When you said the ecm isn’t seeing the solenoid does that mean the ecm is bad or wiring?
Thanks for this very useful video...very helpful ))))

Right to the point, very well explained and under 4 minutiae.
Will def. thumbs up, subscribed and will hit the bell.
Thank you.
Is the solenoid always going to be on/near the intake no matter make, model and age of vehicle?
Thanks a million times,
I did this and followed all the step, after I put new purge valve in. After about 15 second of car running, the new purge valve begins to tic non stop. Is that bad?
I trying to find out how to take off the purge Valve solenoid.
I have a 2006 ford explorer with the code p0443 purge evaporation circuit fault, the question is if this fault is related to what the EGR valve code p0403 appears, if I change the purge valve, will the two codes disappear?
I have both codes as well. Purge circuit fault first then egr valve. Did you have to fix both?
you are number 1 great job
What if we dont have the scanner that has bi directional control
You are proffesional,,,i have a code p0446,,i replace the canister solenoide and fuel cap,but no Take off the light,,please you can help me?
Awesome thanks for the info
Thank you
what year was that truck? colorado 2006?
I changed the valve and checked the wires and did the test but I still have a code?? Any Ideas?
Thanks
Hi, I have a 2004 Honda Jazz/Fitt having an issue kindly suggest me some possible solutions please. When ever I start the car I can hear a water splashing underneath the driver seat and realised that splash/air noise is from fuel tank upon doing OBD diagnostic the error’s “(P0443) EVAP
Canister Purge Valve Circuit
Malfunction” so I replaced the unit and clear the error code, So now there’s no error code in diagnostic but that splash/ air blowing noise is still coming underneath the driver seat possible from inside the fuel tank.
Can anyone share best opinion/suggestions ???

Thank u watch 👍
Is there a way to check purge valve it self
Nice test with the interactive scan tool.
Thank you Tom!
How do I test it without a bi directional scanner???
Is this also called evap hose ?
Love the codes videos 1 auto good
+Serious Thanks for the feedback!
how to trace the wire from connector? thank you
problem is when you replace ths solenoid piece, the check engine light stays on in this 2007 cadillac cts. they say only cadilac has the equipment to actally re-set that check engine light????
I replaced mine July 2023 and it fixed everything. Today my check engine light came back on saying same thing.
When I bought the truck there was one sitting under the seat that I didn’t know what was until replaced, so other owner was having trouble too. Does anyone know what could keep doing this?
I have P0443 code but no check engine light. Check engine light only comes on if I unplug the purge valve
How to active that
what if thee is green on the plug? not so much corrosion fakes but green marker? my valve ohms out ok. im getting power. ill double check ground i guess.

I was just charged $560 to replace this valve and canister vent valve. We replaced our cap a year ago. Drove away and two hours later check engine light with P0443 again! What didn't the mechanic do!!??
I did this to change a knock sensor and changed gaskets as well. Now I have an extremely bad leak and engine stalls. I can’t think of anything I did wrong. Any ideas?
+Zach Reynolds We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Bad sensor.. over/undertorqued valve cover. Causing distortion in the body.
Gaskets are misaligned.
Knocksensor my not have been set properly.
Oops! I was on ground and accidentally probed positive. Nothing lit up. Moved to ground side of plug. Nothing lit up. Did i damage my PCM?
What if you changed the solenoid and you checked the connector, everything is 100%. But your check engine light is still reading the purge valve. What do you do?
Same😭
Change the gas cap
@@giomontalvodelcompare8418 gas cap can cause this problem??
I have same problem & I changed gas cap as well as installed a factory Ford purge valve. Still have p0443 code. 2005 Ford Mustang 130,000 miles. Any info would greatly be appreciated !
There’s also a canister by the gas tank that can be bad.
With so many dishonest mechanics out there ripping us off without mercy. We watch more and more videos like these and are becoming low-key mechanics ourselves.
#Strange times, strange things.
Agree, a bunch of crooks ripping us off
My Evap solenoid… doesn’t not detect 12v instead 8v
hi, i replaced the evap purge solenoid but the p0443 code keep coming up! help

Same code keeps popping up on my accord p0443 after I changed that what else could it be?
I can’t find the solenoid on my mom’s 2016 explorer 3.5 turbo
I've an Altis petrol (1ZZ FE). Two days back, I changed the oil + filter, cleaned the air filter + housing. And now I've this P0443 on the scanner. Should I just check with the wiring and the fuses or anything else?
Can you help I have a Ford 2003 f150 and it's showing 14 coads po443 p1451 p1747 p0755 p0743 p0135 p0141 p0155 p0161 p1409 p1131 p1132 p1151 p1152 it starts and idols just fine
why bad circuit the valve stay open and running hot ..like always power on...?? replaced twice. looks like something else makes the computer keeps o the valve open and power on..
I didn't see you resolve the code
I have replaced the valve and still get the open circuit code. P0443. Tested with voltmeter and the voltage fluctuates from 12 to 7 or 3. What could it be

2007 Toyota Sequoia check engine light lit up and the other lights as well. Gas cap has been changed, gas cap always is tightened correctly. Now I am told that the Purge Valve is making the check engine light up, nothing to do with the gas cap. The Purge Valve will cost $350-$500 to replace next time the check engine lights up. ~ Fort Smith Arkansas

I don’t have that test tool, how else can I check if it gets power on the wire?
It's called a test light, very inexpensive tool. You can buy one anywhere.
Have someone slightly rev the engine while doing it
What happens when the code reader only picks it up 1-2 times a month
What kind of car was he working on for this video?
+Ada L I am unsure what vehicle the tech was working on in this video. The video is universal and can be related to all vehicles.
WHAT IF YOU DONT HET ANY GROUND ?? WHAT IS NEXT
Will that test work on rear valve the same ? And is it a positive ground. Sounds stupid. But never complete 12 volts.
All new parts
I replaced mine but it still runs the same code.
cadillac apparenty has the only equipment to reset that chcck engine light. they will tell you how they had to diagnose the entire engine and charge you over $200 then simply reset the check engine light
Peugeot 207 canister purge valve
Okay so where's the solenoid
What does the solenoid do in cars?
+Ada L Thanks for watching! A solenoid is essentially a heavy duty relay and have multiple uses. This one assists with the evap system directing vacuum.

i have a problem.... my purge solenoid valve receive 7 volts on red wire and 3 volts on signal wires? i suspect my ECU doesn't send signal properly.
