that 3s sounds so good, kinda sounds like a more tamed Castrol Supra
I had a 150k Miler T-top that never leaked and was totally sound inside.
It was a rev3 NA GT with the t-top and full leather interior. It had the extra speakers and subs behind the seats that I never used because the engine note was better than any music.
That car was an addiction for me. I used to drive it as a way to spend an hour around the back roads of my house out in the sticks.
Such a fun car to drive.
I drove it to about 150,000 miles and then the sills became an unsolvable problem.
I sold it to a neighbour who had also owned an MR2 and was appreciative of the condition of mine for the parts market I guess.
Amazing car and I often toy with replacing my Z4 2.5si with an engined swapped sw20 with 3.5 l V6 and maybe a supercharger...

long live the mr2! most fun i've had on 4 wheels is my v6 swapped mr2... 3 more in the works now with different engines. a 3s stocker, a 1ar n/a (for now) and another v6.... because why not
just wish we didnt have winters up here in chicago-land... potholes... potholes hate these cars

Ive had several of these and gen 1s. Fantastic cars ❤❤❤ i did a twin turbo upgrade on on my last gen 2. I used a borla exhaust. Fun times. Enjoy your beautiful ride ❤

I was a blast. I highly recommend checking it out if there is a group in your area.
Its a fantastic way to really learn about your car at its limit in a safe environment and friendly people.
Ken's got a nice car there for sure. I hope when Toyota brings this back they do it justice, turbo, no hybrid, T-Tops, and find some crazy way to do pop up headlights (pop-up foglights to avoid stupid restrictions?). More MR2 less fugly failure MR-S.

Snap oversteer in a mid engine car? So many questions 😅
I drove a 450whp MR2 and the rev/boost was way too aggressive and quick per gear for the streets. Not a smooth experience, but was major heart pounding adrenaline experience.

Even better than a Ferrari. An MR2 GTS motor can be tuned to make 550 hp and still have the engine last 250k miles.. so it is more reliable than a Ferrari. Plus one can reduce weight to around 2450 lbs or so making is high end supercar power to weight ratio.

The Beat didn't come out until '91. First gen MR2 was around in '84, utilizing what was essentially a Corolla drivetrain (even down to the rear knuckles with tie rods...)

Agreed some fully loaded sw20s were pushing 3k lbs. If he takes a few hundred lbs out, he's NOT getting beneath 2.5k Lbs. It's just not happening for that car. He must think he's got a zzw30.
He’s a new generation owner. He even said he got it because he was building it for someone else. Doesn’t sound like it’s his real “pride and joy”
