I’m doing everything right now to get prepared for the road in about 2 months, figured that would be more than enough time and apparently not! Every day is so much planning and gathering thoughts and ideas for the trip, you got this man!
Hi Jer, if you end up being unhappy with using rope to stiffen up your bungee net attic, I would suggest doing what I did - I used some bamboo lengths that were about 3/8" diameter, cut them to fit and wove them into the net in a square at the outside, and then added a couple of center supports also. Very light weight, and very sturdy. And you can probably get some by just foraging as you travel if you have a small saw with you. Good luck!
Wow, thats a great idea! I do have to tighten the rope periodically, so maybe thats the solution i need! I think im gonna wait until this current one breaks haha, and then do the bamboo! Thanks so much for the tip! and thanks for watching! :)
Hey Jer, after messing with camping air mattresses for a few months I ended up buying some high density foam on Amazon for the bed in my van. It ended up working great, it felt like a real bed. I'm 260lbs so I got 6" thick foam. I don't know, you might need something that can pack up small like a camping mattress, but buying that foam was a game changer for me. Hope you're enjoying Toaster Life
Thanks for the tip! So far I haven't had any issues with the current inflatable one, and it is really easy to pack it for when I go camping or hiking! It is noisy tho haha! I will definitely consider a foam one if things turn for the worse! Thanks for watching! :)
Trick is just thick/firm enough not to feel the other side, the rest is wasted weight and space. It's different for different people, I suggest trying out a few. I swear my tastes change every few years as well. I've used futons, japanese bed rolls, air mattresses (both camping and the better home style ones), and a few types of foam (upholstery i liked better than memory, but the gf liked a layer of each, and a hard yoga mat foam underneath to fix hard spots), and even wool (quite nice, but expensive and fiddly to fabricate). There are so many options! My next project is a hammock mount lol.
There are a few nylon nets on amazon for 15-20 bucks that don't sag much at all, and have zippered pockets too. Might look into one if your setup starts to sag.

Well I guess stuff like this bungee net might proof to be improvable throughout the months you use them daily. Really exciting 🎉
Yes! It is always a work in progress! Thanks so much for watching :)
