OMG!! I feel so happy knowing that you are here in Costa Rica I really really admire you!!!! The weather in the place you are staying, Guanacaste, has always been very dry and hot, very different from the beaches on the Caribbean side, but also very beautiful. The sound you heard when you were doing your make up, came from a little animal called Gecko, it's a small and friendly reptil.
Not sure if you filmed this video before you posted your previous one, but people are upset that you chose to travel for non-essential reasons. This is a sensitive time, and everyone has been suffering, with many not being able to see their loved ones in a while. I can see how you and Gary could have thought you are taking all possible precautions (quarantine pre-travel, choosing a relatively remote travel destination, etc), and therefore feel justified in choosing to travel. And normally I would say it’s really none of anyones business what someone chooses to do. However, as a UA-camr/influencer whose business is putting out content/vlogs, I do think this leaves you open to public scrutiny. The main issue I see here is no matter what precautions you took, you have exposed other people to risk of infection- covid tests have false negatives (people have shown up negative and tested positive later), and international travel intensifies the risk of infecting others. You’ve also passed on this risk to everyone you’ve met in Costa Rica- taxi drivers, tour guides etc. If the risk was only to your own family, I don’t think people would be as upset. However, that’s not the case here. I do hope you take everyone’s concerns seriously and address them head on. Thanks for reading.
Idk if false negatives have been much of a concern, it’s usually people becoming infected shortly after the test. You could have it, be asymptomatic and spread it all around. Unless you and everyone around you have fully quarantined after being tested, it doesn’t mean much. And with traveling (or family gatherings), it’s recommend to quarantine 14 days before you leave and 14 days when you’re home. I get that she took some precautions and that’s great, it’s just not enough. Covid can cause lifelong damage to a person’s brain, heart and lungs, even after experiencing the mildest symptoms. I suppose I’m just frustrated because this type of thing just continues the problem of rising cases. Then people will watch this and some will think taking a vacation is acceptable.
It’s nice to have enough money to have this sort of opinion. I hope you remember to take into consideration that in a capitalist society the people being hurt the most are previously colonized countries dependent on tourism because that’s the structure that was set up. There’s no winning solution because on one side you suffer because you can’t feed your family and on the other you risk exposure. Just something to consider before speaking on behalf of people who’s livelihood is dependent on tourism and who’s government doesn’t have the capacity to financially support them for months at a time.
As a youtuber myself (specifically a TRAVEL youtuber who's had to reinvent her entire channel to not spread the idea that it's ok to travel now), I totally agree with your comment. A big following comes with big responsibilities.
Considering the adults are working full-time and the kids are still doing online school, it wouldn't fully count as a 'vacation'. Just, instead of being locked in your house, or stepping out into an overly-crowded city, they're exploring empty and safe jungles and beaches in the hours they aren't working/studying. If you have the opportunity to do so, why not? Especially for the kids - being locked at home at such a young age, especially being boys full of energy, isn't great. I'm certain if we had the chance to treat our family to a safe trip that has more normalcy than back home, we would.

It is magical and involves decoding the subconscious mind and limiting beliefs. It's far more impactful than anything I personally know if. It changed my life so much that I am a healing practitioner and teacher now. It is very holistic and helps us understand ourselves really really well. X
