As someone who is living in the middle of Europe, I am LOVING this vlog. I grew up in South Africa and I moved to Europe a year ago. I miss being around people that look like me so much 😢. I cannot wait for that trip back home and get some peace and healing!
Hello Mayowa. I have a video idea on colorism that you could make. Could you please address the colorism that's in the Netflix show "Dear White People"? I think it would be really important to address this show because, despite the fact that they have the roles reversed for the characters, they still denote much of it to colorism. The lead "heroine" is still a light skinned girl (despite her being an activist for black rights) and the antagonist "mean girl" is still a dark skinned girl (despite her surrounding herself with white friends and straightening her hair to fit white conventional beauty standards). I think it would be really great to make a video on this because obviously the directors were very much colorist and couldn't look past the idea of making a light-skinned person the main character (yet again).
NYC is a different place from the rest of the North. NYC is concentrated and while it has more than its share, per capita of talented and bohemian people, it also has more than its share, per capita of weirdos and other unsavory types...So NYCers have to have a "stance" about themselves to protect themselves from potential "boundary invasions". I'm from waaaaaaay upstate (close to Canada), and I love NYC, but I do stand out when I go there, inside establishments, because I cannot help being super friendly and walking in a mind of "random kindness" like I can in my home city/area. I shut that down on public transport or on the street in the NYC.
So glad to see your joy after your anxiety and sadness. Continued health and progress to you. Yo, the way I cackled when you came for us Northerners. You ain't lying; I'm from Philly and we know we're mean. Also, shout-out to you for being a continental African who how African-American history and culture have positively influenced our lives. Lastly, as a Ghanaian (with some Naija ancestry), I wish you a belated happy independence day. I greeted peeps there and here & remain encouraged and hopeful about the nation given its inhabitants powerful, determined spirits. I no go lie, sha. I also wept about where Nigeria should be as a nation, in Africa and on the global stage. Anyway, my dear, well done o!
I love how that lady came up to you! Lol and I know Chicago is “Midwest” but it was a little bit funny how you put it after talking about Northerners being mean. I loved the looks in this video too! The white dress and jeans are too cute!
Lol, northerners are not necessarily mean, we are just not friendly like southerners lol. I'm originally from Boston and when I moved to the DC area and people would look at me and speak, I wanted to say "you don't know me..." But I didn't because I knew southerners were friendly ♥️🧡
Yes! Southerners are often fake nice. I like people to be genuinely nice or just general with me lol. If you hate me, fight me, or stfu. Don’t stab me in the back with a smile,
Mayowa J’adore!!!! I just came back from london last week and totally agree when I’m back home I’m like everyone is so friendly and polite. And yes I just got stared down by an older white guy, walking into Publix bc my toes were out….like eww sir stop ✋🛑
I was born in nyc but raised in nc then back in nyc now so I get the comment for sure. No offense but don’t let that person bad choice of words stop you from coming back you will meet nice people sometimes I mean sometimes lol... you are beautiful inside and out I love your energy
Here people look at your feet a lot... well they look at everything that shouldn't be their business. That's island life for you! Hugs from Martinique!
@@doll.ov.poetrii4682 I loath having to go to the city. Loath with all my fibers. I can wait to get out of the tristate area. Jersey and Conneticut are just as bad.
@@doll.ov.poetrii4682 I'm from a small town in South Africa and honestly I'd like to experience a city like NY, but I've heard things about the people 🤣
the fiiiiit omg with the jeans and the top and the green shoes it was really giving one of those adorable cartoon character stickers from the 00s or something hahah!! youre so beautiful ah!
Hey, this is a long shot but do you happen to know a goos seamstress in Atlanta? I have some nice fabric and I need the right person to craft the garments
New Yorkers are super mean… obviously I’m not speaking about all of them. I remember I visited Brooklyn with my guy friend and he was like “I just met these two nice girls I wanted to introduce you!” And they looked me up and down and said “we’re not THAT nice“ In that moment I realized I could never live there LOL I’m way too much of an empath
When I went to atl I didn’t see any Afrocentric ppl. All the ppl has bbL and long weaves . The guys were nice the women just looked and wasn’t nice. I’m from Cali and won’t be going back to atl . It’s a very flashy city
I’m so conflicted watching all these OMG I’m in ATLANTA Vlogs…not you, but as a local fighting against gentrification it’s getting tiresome. 😭 I don’t even want to live here anymore.

Hey. It's no joke. new yorkers are mean AF. I grew up here. My parents are from brooklyn. Either we're shy or we're rude and angry.

Truth! I would never move back to NYC!

😍😍😚
Yay I’m early !
Girl, how tall are you?

Pretty sure New Orleans has more black people than Atlanta and is majority black and richer in culture
I’m so conflicted watching all these OMG I’m in ATLANTA Vlogs…not you, but as a local fighting against gentrification it’s getting tiresome. 😭 I don’t even want to live here anymore.
I didn't know Southern Bell was racist??? Can you elaborate on that if you can?
is a colloquialism for a debutante in the white upper class of the Antebellum South.
