aw, poor Siskel. he's doing so awesome. especially considering what was going on.
for all of us, he just seemed tired and thin; NOT someone who was dying horrendously from brain-eating cancer.
THAT is a professional. THAT is a star. thanks for that, Mr. Siskel. we miss you.

He apparently wasn't suffering, however, from what I heard from Ebert at the time, in a Larry King interview. What you see here is basically where he was at IRL - he was mellower than before and spent a lot of time smiling and listening to Ebert talk.

@@squamish4244 And there was a definite softening from Ebert, too. He would still argue his corner with Siskel, but he wouldn't interrupt or talk over him so much.

FYI - Jim Carrey recently mentioned this special on the hollywood reporter round table. He said it was his best moment of his career when Siskel and Ebert praised him after always bashing his past movies.

Man, I hate to be the 'remember when?' guy.. but, it's just undeniable how much more imaginative, fun, and exciting the movies were back in the 90's.. I can't remember the last time I went to a theatre to see something, or was very excited to be going

IMHO Jim Carrey movies are very hit and miss. Some real turds, some just "meh" predictable, and some real home runs. My wife simply cannot stand him in any movie, but I loved a select few, namely The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and The Truman Show. Also quite liked Yes Man even though it falls into that familiar cliche of romcom with a cursed naive male protagonist (Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty).
