For that to be possible the conspiracy would run deep, it would have to be someone in blizzard itself who programmed it, because using screen information from something like OpenCV with python is just too slow. It must be someone who can have access to their server. - I mean maybe it could be a hacker if he can somehow read the information. But yea it must run pretty deep, maybe the CIA? or aliens?

If you think about what a psi storm would actually look like, it would be a bunch of highly trained people suddenly just falling over noiselessly. No screaming, no lightning, just a moment of rushed silence, and then some thuds followed by a long awful silence.

I really like the way maxpax uses the disruptors. Back then it was use all 8 disruptors nova at the same time, now he used it one by one and it zones and buy so much time for his other armies to regroup, or to distract the main force from going back and those DT going in. Smart strategy hahaha

I hear it on occasion, but commented since I have never heard him explain it, surprisingly! And I have been watching him for nearly 2 years now. With how often he brings up other things he's already covered, I figured he would mention he knows these units are not playing puzzles instead of fighting the enemy or something
I remember years ago Beasty played MaxPax randomly and said "this guy is the future of Protoss."
Lowko, there is a Chinese saying which reads: Masters can be recognized by what they achieve with little. If MaxPax wins using a broomstick and a bit of magic, it doesn't mean Protoss is equal or overpowered. It means MaxPax is overpowered, just as Serral was on Blizzard's hitlist when balancing Zerg ("Nerf Serral!").
So I still think too much has been taken from Protoss in SC2.

Should we say that the amongst the youngest representatives we have. Clem for the Terrans, Reynor for the Zergs, and MaxPax for the Protoss as powerhouses? And maybe Oliveira on the rise for Terran from what I gather from Lowko's casts? What other prospects is there recently among the younger players?

Speaking in terms of balance, while I could suggest minor changes to units like the Hydralisk, the Ultralisk, the Ghost, and the Widow Mine, I think the unit that most needs a balance overhaul is the Sentry.
- Reduce cost from 50/100 to 50/75
- Increase HP and Shields from 40/40 to 50/50
- Reduce Hallucination energy cost to 50, duration to 30 seconds.
- Add researchable upgrade to the Cybernetics Core, Enhanced Emitters, increases the radius of Guardian Shield by .5. Research at Cybernetics Core for 100/100/73, requires Twilight Council.
Make the Sentry a little more durable and cost efficiency, allow more frequent use of Hallucination but reduce duration so you have to be more choosy about when to cast it, and allow an upgrade to help it support ground armies a bit better but its an investment to be made and delays air attack upgrades, which overall may make Twilight Council openers a bit more appealing over Stargate.
Not playing this game (played through the campaigns and that is it) just watching all these tournament videos and stuff, but Medivac just seems like such an OP unit for the Terran in every way. Flying unit you get early, that can transport, and also heal, and you have a whole bounch of them.
MaxPax makes me think of DOPA in League of Legende !
I would love to learn about his personnal storyline, if he don't mine too much about privacy. ^^

It's a play on the Japanese word for killing yourself, s-e-p-p-u-k-u (just so this post doesn't get auto deleted), and swapping out some letters to read as sudoku, a much more benign and relatively common word.

I do think Protoss is a bit underpowered. However I do agree the biggest obstacle with Protoss is that they don't have a Serral or a Clem. MaxPax could be that person but he doesn't play offline so we just can't know... Along with this point, I do agree Protoss is the least figured out race, due to lack of excellence. Reynor showed everyone just how much PvZ still has room to grow and that's just 1 matchup and a very specific style...
That last game 48 to 80 workers says it all!!! For the KHALAAAA!!!!
This MaxPax gameplay was impressive.
Lowko is 100% right, if people actually saw MaxPax play IRL then it would be the proof needed to stand down the Protoss players looking for a bunch of buffs! But alas, he/she remains an enigma, and there will always be doubt where we all wish there was none. So enjoyable and impressive to watch Protoss at this level, but it kills me that I cannot fully process this skill as fully legitimate demonstration of human greatness in regulated competition.

I think ever since Has demonstrated that Protoss unit cost effectiveness is high enough that you can run up to 88 workers and trade down enemy armies set this all in motion.
MaxPax here has demonstrated how misunderstood and underused protoss has been played in the past, because all anyone would do is get to 66 workers and try to slowly build up a huge unstoppable deathball. Maxpax cut the army count down but made sure they could be readily replaced and that the pressure could be kept up.
Harstem and also Reynor’s protoss play also seems to have inspired some new plays in MaxPax, but we will see where that goes.
I think it was BeastyQT who first noticed Maxpax and thought "this guy has potential", and gave him coaching.
Maxpax a life of blinking bowlers.
Maxpax's ability to trade SO cost efficiently in the early/mid game just gives him a much larger bank at the start of the late game; which gives him the freedom to do things like warp in 15 DTs just to harass.
He's such an incredibly clean player 👌

33:00 Honestly I think just adding a little bit of counterplay to the EMP like giving sentries' guardian shields a reduction on the effect of EMP OR altering widow mines' capacity in a medivac (like max 2 mines per medivac) could be incredibly helpful.
As I see it in my platinum league protoss opinion, ghosts are way too necessary and powerful against protoss, and the only real counter which is high templars with feedback, isn't necessarily a counter cause ghosts can just snipe them. Moving some of the ghost's utility out to other units would be great I think. Still leaves terrans with all of the tools they need to fight protoss, but makes it so they have to diversify a little instead of just always having ghosts in every army comp.

I can't be the only one who lmao every time Lowko says "Sudoku" when he means to say seppuku. Although, I do sometimes feel like disemboweling myself when playing hardcore Sudoku.
I don't think Protoss needs any significant changes personally, but I do wish that Zealots had a slight buff of some sort.
I hope MaxPax decides to make IEM Katowice his debut to offline tourneys, I need to see a protoss win, either that, or herO or PartinG needs to go all the way. Would love to see the original SC2 world champ take the crown once more

1. Maxpax should play offline tournaments
2. Zerg has been nerfed too much because of Serral

Its true though. Serral is like 1-2k mmr worth above the other top level zergs at least in a stable macro game.
Also hero leaves his door open on purpose pretty sure. Almost everytime he kills 50 lings and losses like at most 2 probes
We can at least agree about widowmines. Cloaked unit that pays for itself after landing one single shot that's stronger than two tank volleys - that's just too much.
But, then again, terran have always been blizzard's darlings.
- Disruptor nerf was needed, and done.
- Banelings nerfs were urgently needed, and done.
- Widow Mines nerf is also urgently needed, and... wait, what?
The problem with Protoss is that they do not have a forever AND cheap unit. Terran has the marine, zerg has the zergling. ALL the protoss units are AMAZING for a specific use case, but they fall off badly. Adept sucks after very early game, Colossus suxk against anything but light units and are hard countered by everything else, DT are awesome glass cannons, but ARE rediculously expensive. Buffing the stalker is NOT an option, that would be OP.
My best guess would be an upgrade to the zealot AFTER charge. Either regen like the reaper, a shield like the immortal, a slow like the marauder, a charge impact damage, self damage immunity (ie no sself damage from disruptors), resistance to AOE.

In THEORY, I think protoss is strong. The issue is that the race has so many restrictions on its units, making basic fighting kind of clunky.
Zealots-ground DPS only. Fast, but only if running in, not out. Lings and marines both have speed options to retreat also. (lingspeed is so fast and added creep bonus / marines can stim on command and can replenish hp cost)
Many of the massable units have targeting/attacking restrictions (Phoenix, oracle, colossus, zealot, adept, DT, immortal) or are exclusive casters for DPS (high Templar, disruptor).
So, there are just so few clearly advantageous all rounders (stalkers, but tradeoff is clunky attack speed and poor performance against masses... Archons but they cost 2 strong units / 250-300 gas and are hard to mass...)
Hydralisk with mutalisk / Marine with cyclone viking both easier to use for all around skirmishing.
So... Yes I think protoss can be strong, but the units so frequently have stark quality of life shortcomings that feel punishing.
I think the potential is high, but it's a high skill floor to create and use a good well-rounded composition from the available units.
Clem defeated? Three-zero? I fear the apocalypse is coming.

Amazing game by MaxPax, but it’s worth remembering that Clem is probably saving juice for Katowice event.
Honestly MaxPax is starting to look more and more like Serral in some of these games. The guy is making every right move, always has the right amount of stuff in the right place and just makes players like Clem look bad. It's not like Clem was making any mistakes, he just got slightly outplayed at every step of the way.
I am a massive fanboy for MaxPax too @LowkoTV , so don't feel too bad!

I'm not really sure why not more protoss use spread out DTs.. Especially in games like these every scan is worth so much, plus you usually kill some SCVs and force your opponents glance away

In terms of whether or not Protoss is underpowered, I think they just lack tools at the pinnacle of skill. Their counters are more easily... countered. For example in PvZ the late game is all about vipers abducting air units and just bleeding the Protoss out. Well the counter would be High Templar but having your Templar far enough forward to cover for your air units often doesn't work because there are so many counters for Protoss ground (Lurker, Broodlords, etc.) that it's unrealistic and best case scenario is you bleed out Templar (which aren't cheap and can't consume to get energy faster) anyway. Zerg has other tools like Queens and Overseers to make feedbacking vipers even harder by stacking them. Maybe it's bias but watching PvZ on the channel always seems like an uphill battle. 1 uncscouted muta transition and your game can just suddenly be over and even in an air to air engagement parasitic bomb+fungal is an insane amount of splash damage on some pretty slow naturally stacking units. Vs. Terran I think the problems are similar with EMP, the Viking+bio ball vs. Colossus+Stalker and probably some other places. Vikings wander too far forward 1-2 volleys kill a Colossus, Stalkers blink forward and maybe get 2 volleys off killing 2 Vikings potentially putting them out of position for what probably wasn't a positive trade in the first place and they don't win the fight against the bio ball without those colossus. Maybe all 3 races just need to get together and have some sort of... Hybrid 🤔? I think that'll go well.

I think overall winrates could be a better indicative of balance within all leagues of sc2. One important point to keep in mind is that everyone plays sc2 and not just professionals and the game must be balanced for all players.
I agree. I think weighing balancing decisions more heavily towards top-tier players is a good idea, but I think it should be looked at on the whole.
The issue with that is it has to be win rate+skill level. If say zvt has a fifty percent win rate but the zerg is outplaying the terran at every turn then its not balanced is it
People need to look at all parts not just the winrate
I don't think that balancing for all the players can be done. It would be awesome, just not possible.
Except if some players are hidden AI.
I hope MaxPax isn't one. But his behavior is really strange. Never offline. Always better game after game. Having an incredible multitask for a protoss player.
