Of course! I hate how cause in American we have a “Minstrel” or “Black Face” history in our entertainment. That when we see something created in another country with their cultural references. That we look at it with American eyes rather than appreciating it for being different. In Japan they don’t have the same history so to them when people say Mr Poppo is a black face. Well one things for certain is Mr popo is from one of the demon realms but the question is which one he has pointed ears after all and that's supposed to be according to dragon Ball daima The Mark of a demon. Even the Kai's like shin is one but a different one I think from what I understand
Kais always felt distinctly hindu to me since they had these flashy designs with brightly colored skin. But I thought that deva were their prototypes. By proxy I also considered asura the prototype for "demons".
Seeing as how we know Toriyama was a discovery writer and made things up as he went. I dont doubt that the Kings were his initial inspiration for the 4 Kaio then pulled from Hinduism when he came up with the Kaioshin. But who can say for sure.
The Greeks are generally accepted to have not known the color "Blue" or "Cyan" for quite a while... definitely after the Homeric era. When did the Chinese Guardians get assigned such colors to them and does it predate Western knowledge?
@@uhthin This im not entirely sure. As obvious these colors are what they are more closely associated with they dont seem to “always” appear with those colors. I also could not find any reason for the discrepancies in color in my research. Its possible some of the skin colors they are typically described with came at a later time as artistic interpretation of religion and spiritual beliefs do tend to change and evolve over time.
@@alaminior i guess that rlly depends on just how strong others in the demon realm are. Based on what we’ve seen from Daima Buu certainly seemed to be absurdly strong even by Demon standards. Im sure we will have a better idea of how the Demon Realm scales by the end of Daima

@@daffydlandegge3843 Retcons arent exclusive to Super and Toriyama has done them all throughout Dragon Ball. Powerscaling has been a mess since the Buu arc and arguably before that. In the end its just entertainment and really not that serious. Id rather dedicate my energy to something more positive than worry about the “damage” that Super did. I like all DB series bc I find them entertaining.

A.) Broly doesn’t screw up any “canon lore” he’s just written to be OP as shit, same way he was back in the day, but now even more insane power scale wise. I mean, Broly in Z can be scaled up to near SSJ3 level, and in terms of timeline he was mid-Cell Saga, easily the strongest villain/antagonist by miles B.) Zamasu also didn’t “screw” anything up, as Darc stated, Toriyama has a very long history of retcons. C.) Okay, come on, you’re gonna pretend like this shit didn’t happen in Z? Goku was hurt by a rock in SSJ during the Cell Saga when Krillin threw it to test his instincts. (Yes I know, anime-only scene, but same applies for that bullet scene) it had been shown multiple times in Z that if their guard is dropped enough they’ll suffer damage, and not to mention… a lot of those scenes are gags, not meant to be taken literally. D.) I agree on the whole idea of Whis having to explain concepts to Goku and Vegeta that they’d already learned in Z. Toyotarou did fix a lot of those issues in the manga version, but for anime-only’s it is certainly confusing to see Goku suddenly forget basic martial arts principles that he learned in OGDB E.) Jiren letting the others survive is again, not a lore problem, nor is it a writing problem. Jiren wanted to see the extent of their power, and so he pushed them to the brink again and again. Jiren didn’t get serious until Belmont told him to stop playing around, so not really a writing problem, that’s just his character. F.) Goku being moronic is a big problem we’ve all had with Super, but it can be chalked up to one thing: Toriyama’s burnout. Toriyama took DB from gag-manga roots to straight action, and ramped it up from that point on. We know from interviews that he was getting tired of the constant power climb and seriousness of the tone, and so Goku, and others, became affected in his writing. Besides, a lot of scenes of Goku being this stoic intelligent guy are anime-only, meaning it isn’t exactly how Toriyama himself wrote Goku. A lot of the Cell Saga characterization of Goku is on part of Toei’s writers and not Toriyama himself, Goku was always written to be a dumber and generally silly character who just loves to fight, and that contrast got boosted in Super, as Base Goku is a big ol goofy mess, but in his transformed states is a locked in badass. I get that you have your gripes with Super, a lot of fans do, however not every problem with Super is a “lore” or “writing” issue, and it’s clear you’re forgetting some lore yourself when writing this rant. Also, Darc isn’t on any high horse, he just stated factual information when replying to you. If anyone’s on a high horse it’s you bud. Chill out

The games, the Z films, GT, and others are “alternate timelines”, but not in the sense of per say Future Trunks’s timeline. I don’t know who started this rumor and tried to MCU-ify Dragon Ball, but it has never been stated that anything other than OGDB > Z > Daima > and Super are canonical. GT is a big reason this debate exists, and people like to skew Toriyama’s words on GT, and say “Oh he called it an AU” when all Toriyama said is that GT is chalked up to interpretation and could be considered an alternate timeline to an extent
Daima is canon. Originally, it was not, because production on Daima started very similarly to GT. In the beginning, Toriyama merely provided concepts, designs, and other little details for Toei to work with, but that changed.
